  • Comments: My goal was to survive and beat the cut-off (6:30 to the summit, 10:00 for the course) I beat it by 1:30. I did well on the ascent, I sucked a big one on the way down. Happy with my effort and results. My favorite running shoes are shot after this one. I've never even touched a mountain much less trained on one or at elevation. I will have to consider doing the double next year... ascent (half) on Saturday and full marathon on Sunday. Everyone I met, whether volunteers or runners, were amazing people... great camraderie out there. I would recommend this race to anyone with the testicular fortitude to give it a shot.

  • Comments: Anyway, the race was incredibly well-run. Volunteers were wonderful. Aid stations were good and there were enough of them. It's a pretty impressive undertaking, putting on a race like that. And just the possiblilties of danger in the race, being able to keep everyone as healthy and safe as possible and tend to injuries quickly. The race org did a great job and my hat's off to them!

  • Comments: This was a serious soul searching race for me. I was in more pain than I've ever voluntarily subjected myself to. It was beyond the bonk and fatigue I've felt in any previous race. I went into this race as a one time bucket list race, but I feel like I have unfinished business on that mountain now. I will come back and do it again. Not sure if it will fit into next year's race plan, so I may do it on my own. If anyone wants to do it with me, let me know and we'll come up with an attack plan. I don't care about official results... the next time is just for me!
