Cinco de mayo can be painful. Delicious margarita's though. The crew at dinner came over here to continue. Margaritas make for messes in kitchens, too. :)
I though of going to the pool, but I think I'll do a trainer ride instead. Let's see if the tootsie can deal with a bike shoe or not. I am hoping to get on a bike trail this weekend, but I am taking my mountain bike so I don't have to deal with ankle issues out in the real world. Plus, the person I am riding with is slower than even me, a mountain bike is perfect for hanging with her.
I am a little bummed, this was the weekend that a friend and I were going to go canoe camping down a local river. There is no way to do that with my foot the way it is. I just keep getting to cancel fun things. Maybe I should think of NOT getting hurt for a while...

Went to the dermatologist bright and early this morning for my 6 month skin check. He isn't too concerned about the pigmentation on my excision scar, just told me to watch it. Everything else looked decent, and he thinks I only need checks every 12 months since I don't seem to have a lot of creepy looking stuff on my skin. So, good have that that cleared up for now.
Kids are off today and Monday for testing, so we're hanging around. Was going to take them mountain biking, but it's raining now so we'll see. Totally missed Aspen's testing this morning - apparently they emailed me the time and I didn't get it, so I got a call this morning that she missed it. OOPS. I feel like I get flakier by the year??
Hoping to drop the kids at Nate's office and get out for a quick ride this afternoon, but we'll see what the weather looks like.

Another busy day.
Working this weekend -- starting around 4pm Saturday, hopefully done by Saturday night sometime, but not necessarily.
And then starting Monday, I'll be in a Sharepoint bootcamp class -- where they take two weeks of classes and smash it into one week. Which is awesome except that the schedule requires 12 hour days.
I think I might relax tonight. :)

Feeling great about lots of things today. Work-wise, I mentioned that my VP nominated me for a leadership program this summer which is apparently a big deal - got the details today and it involves a trip to Phoenix! I was also accepted today into a 360-degree review program. I guess only a few people get to do it every quarter because a whole class goes along with it, but if you do, it looks good that you're interested in receiving feedback and addressing it. Then a co-worker said he nominated me for an award through the industry organization where I serve as communications chair. AND my boss said that half of her 1-on-1 meeting this morning with our VP was spent talking about me and the good things I'm doing! That's fun! Then just now I received some points through our rewards and recognition program from my VP. Totally feeling the work love right now.
Also down a bit on the scale, the direct result of being strict on calorie counting this week. It really does work. Going to try a[...]

Change of plans again!  I didn't get myself up for the run this morning and now I can't do it today as planned.   Well, I can, but not until after work and it's going to be in the high 80s and super windy.  I suppose I could still decide to go, but right now I am planning on moving it to Sunday again.   Grrr.
My left foot still feels weird.

My training logs are lacking of any triathlon related activities lately.... interesting.  My plan was to do the team ride on Tuesday, but then it rained.  This will all change once I get back from London in 2 weeks.  I'm getting the 2nd round of spine injections on Monday, so nothing for a couple days, then vacation.. then back at it!  I swear ... back in the pool, back on the bike, back at everything!

I was the only person who showed up for group training last night, evidently the gym doesn't pay the trainers for group sessions unless a minimum of 3 clients show up.  I told the Drill Instructor I would work out on my own.  No reasonn he should give away an hour of his time.  So, I basically did his usual workout but substituted the bicycle crunch & plank since there is no TRX use without a trainer.
PiYo Drench today.
Miss Thing comes home tonight.  Thing One will come home after her graduation next weekend.
My trainee is doing pretty well....the other new person quit already.  Seriously.  For all the security stuff we have to get in order to hire someone then the 6 weeks she has had in training so far.....what a freaking waste!!

Happy Friday.

I am tapering for the race next weekend - I never like taper. I actually am not thinking of it even as a race, but just an event. I know I am not there to race. I just want to run/hike/walk the 50 mile course on the Pacific Crest Trail within the 13 hour time limit.

As I am finishing up week 2 on my new job, I am feeling much better about it. Still have one more week of "onboarding training", but am having more meetings and starting to learn more. I am excited for this opportunity. Once I adjust, I know I am really going to like it. Already loving the flexibility of working remote.

I ate way too much last night and feel pretty bloaty about it today. It's interesting that i now track what I eat and knowing that I was going to go out made me choose better for the early part of the day.
Felt pretty zonked at the end of the day ... I can't find the treadmill lube but I am working at home today so i'll go for a run on lunch.

No go on training this morning, chest cold is kicking my butt, just didn't seem smart to get out in cool air and start breathing hard.
Update of family situation:  POS brother is getting out of jail today, prosecution offered him a plea deal when the case basically fell apart when I told the lawyer that Dad would not testify against him, he feels sorry for him and obligated to help him out.  Brother signed the plea deal, has a court hearing this morning and should be released sometime today.  Dad is on his way to the airport right now and will arrive in Florida this afternoon.  He bought a one-way ticket, I have no idea where he will be staying, his condo that is for sale or a hotel.  Brother has a restraining order against being on the condo property so if he shows up there it's only a matter of time before one of the residents call the PoPo and he's back in jail.  My Dad has obviously been brainwashed by the narcissistic sociopath and cannot s[...]

Last night's cycling was challenging, but I feel like I'm making big progress. I hesitate to call it a breakthrough workout, but my second set of tempo was stronger than the first. Exciting.
Swim this morning took a lot longer than I would have expected. But, for the main set, I hit all of the splits. Coach says there are some things to work on (no surprise) . . . so maybe there's a chance I can get decent at this?
Family gets in town today for baby girl's baptism. Going to be a crazy, busy weekend. Will definitely get my training in, but have to keep my eye on the bigger things.

Some balance with weights, core work

I didn't get on the bike yesterday, but that is no surprise. A lot going on in the house so that one got skipped. Ride tonight. I'll take the le Fantome' out and throw in some intervals to up the intesity and raise up the workout levels (if not frequency) for the week. Maybe a couple of laps in the Sands neighborhood.
I ran across this one from a couple years ago and it sums up the affect that the sunset has on TW and me. She didn't know the picture was being taken. The picture is pretty crappy,  taken with an older cell phone. Grainy and such, just no quality whatsoever. Still, I like what I think the picture says.
