Went with Brant and his wife and his Aunt and Uncle and Chris to attend a free taping in Millenium Park of WAIT WAIT DON'T TELL ME. Brant and Chris are NPR geeks.
Didn't take many photos, but Brant took this one, and my hair looks fried. Frightening. I need a haircut.

Another exhausting and demoralizing day at work.  Nixed the bike ride in favor of some downtime and TV and going to bed early for tomorrow's EARLY & LONG ride.

Weekend should be a blast, excited about a number of things. 65-70 mile ride tomorrow, winds are looking calm so that is a relief. Then I am going to dinner and a paint party with my college girlfriends. I can't say I've been the best friend to much of anyone in the past few years, and even in the past few months where I've been feeling like I need my friends, my introvert side has really dominated. Instead of calling one of them up to hang out I retreat to my couch, to training, to sleeping. It's normal behavior for me but then I wonder why no one wants to hang out and it's because I rarely make an effort. So I'm really happy they thought of me and extended the invitation. I am not even excited about the canvas design (and I won't be drinking because of my run Sunday morning) but I just want to hang with my friends.

So this was Day 9, and I really did not want to go, woke up with a shoulder/headache type of pain and almost talked myself out of running this morning and waiting till tonight, but then I remembered we have a band thing tonight to go to! It's always something at night!
So I went out and hit my 1.1 mile route and as I was coming back in, my neighbor was outside reading, so I went and spent some time chatting with him before going in to coffee and my quiet time. So what I thought was going to be a rough morning, actually turned into a good morning after all.

Another day of almost walking off the job.  I actually had to get up from my desk, go downstairs and take a walk around the block to keep myself from saying f*** you, f*** you, f**** you, you're cool, F*** YOU, I'm OUT...  and walking out.  But I didn't, so I guess there's that.  I tell ya, everything is crossed hoping that things come together to allow me to go back to my previous job.   
Sadly, Tony isn't doing much better as he figures he'll get fired either today or in two weeks.  My guess is in 2 weeks so that the company has some time to interview and try and replace him.  What the company doesn't know is that their researcher is also on the verge of quitting because she can't stand working for this particular editor either.  Good times right now in the Goggs household.

I was able to get in a trail run this morning, 3 miles at a park near the house.  It is the first time in weeks that I have been able to run somewhere other than the neighborhood and it was a joy.  I have started scoping out other places to do more of this, but time crunch being what it is, I am somewhat limited.  But I will enjoy it when I get the opportunity, that's for sure.
I had my first session with Amy, the swim coach last night.  She gave me some pointers, some drills, and laid out the skeleton structure for a swim improvement plan. So, this morning I didn't have to work (late shift), so I did get to the pool.  It has been rainy for the past couple of weeks in the afternoon, so getting to the pool has been a challenge.  But I was there today and I stuck to the plan.  Swimming is much better when there is a plan to stick to, and a goal that I am working towards.
