QOTD "Execution most often beats fast, probably my favorite thing about triathlon, especially long-course. It is all about planning and the ability to properly execute that plan, no matter what else is going on around you. That, and the ability to stay calm and keep your sh*t together when the unexpected occurs." Rusty Smith

I've still not learned which buttons to press (or not press) on my phone... Here is another messed up photo... from last night. This must have happened when I was handing the phone over to the lady that took the pic.
RANDOM.

Tonight is Matthew's football meeting at 8 - hoping to head out for that but hit the gym out there before his meeting at 8. Hip is a bit cranky this morning. Advil on board and will do elliptical and maybe some strength at the gym. Need to get in strength.

14 miles in the morning with the girls. We are getting a head start on the big group and running 5 miles early at 5:30 a.m. - Angi is not happy about that early of a start, but Melissa is super paranoid about running in the heat. So we'll run 5 by ourselves and meet up with the group at 6:30 to do the other 9. At least we will be done by 8 a.m.?!?!

To hit weekly mileage I only needed 2 miles. (plan calls for 5 today, but I did an extra 3 on Wed.) Was really sore from last night, so I said only 2.5, then I got to that point and said ok, how about 3.5 (one mile loops on the course), then I talked myself into 4.5 and then figured, what the heck I will just run around to finish the five. Body felt a little less cranky as I went.
FYI I am now at 1000 miles (1005 to be exact) for the year. Should crush my old PR for yearly miles. (1520)

Long May You Run

Nice cool beautiful morning.

Was just reviewing my training log going back to January and I've done a lot more running than i thought i did. Up until May i was still playing tennis 1 to 2 times per week.

I'm logging about 70 miles per month for June and July (with a week still to go) and i've been running 2 to 3 times per week (sometimes more with brick runs) Swimming is not as often as i'd like, but it was still more consistent than i would have thought - usually at least twice per week. Biking Volume is only a little bit more than running, which kind of surprised me. But when i think about it, most of my weekday rides have been around 1 to 1.5 hours. My weekday runs are usually close to an hour. And my weekend runs have been 1.5 to 2.5 hours lately. My rides have been 2 to 3.5.

I think i've been really trying to be balanced. I don't usually worry too much about getting my bike rides in because i really like to ride. Given the choice, i try to swim or run, because i know i'[...]

We got some pretty pics despite her fear of bees!
Well this day is turning busy all of the sudden. Kids decided they wanted to go to the Funtastic Play Day to wrap up the summer camps through the park district. Got ready to go and the van battery is dead - Gabe left the lights on. Hitched a ride to the school to swipe DH"s truck. In the meantime Mom called and she wants to come visit today. We have dinner out plans with friends and also have to get the kids to the in-laws to stay the night! I don't see myself being able to squeeze in a workout today. Someday I will learn to get the workouts in when I am up at 5:30 in the morning!

After 8 minutes of foam roller and stretching. Sit-ups, reverse crunches and reverse leg raises were on the exercise ball, as were the oblique stuff.. I don't know what it was really. I laid on the ball and raised my legs up sideways... it made things burn so it did something. Then I did some curls and kickbacks to work the arms. I need a 15lb dumbell, the 10s are a bit light and the 20s are a bit heavy.

Push Through

---
This is the first time I've been able to run this route without stopping.

The crest of this route is at a mountain village called Mata Ahogado ('drowned plant' is the literal translation. It suits this town b/c they grow a lot of food in the creeks/streams coming off the mountain). The road up to Mata Ahogado is VERY steep and quite a ways up. Many times, I was digging into the road and bent over. Very few cars can make it up this road...I only saw ppl on foot, or on horses.

Anyways, I've attempted to run up to this town and always had to stop...until this time. W00T.
