Race week :) We are headed to Dade City on Friday to do the Dances with Dirt Green Swamp on Saturday. I am doing just the 13.1.  Uncle Fra the 10k and Richard the 50k.  Last year we both got lost on the 50k.  I think I did about 36 miles or so and Richard did 38 miles.  Oops.  One year I won the overall female in the 13.1 but I think it was before many people knew about this race :)  This year I thought maybe I would go for the win, until I saw last year's 1:31 win time.  In any case, it is always fun to go to races, and I am excited to run through the Green Swamp.  Gonna take it easy this week, attempt to sleep more and lay off the booze until post run.  See what happens.

Not an actual workout, but an estimate of work done throughout the day. Part of my movement breaks every 30 minutes throughout the day I got in 410 KB swings (goal is 10000 for the month) and at least 100 pullups and pushups. Plus a bunch of mobility and a 45 minute walk

I just uploaded a plan to my profile for an olympic distance race in June.  I've been to the pool once in 2015 and I haven't run once so.... CLEARLY I need some structure!  Not sure which race I'll do.  There's Guelph (pretty) or Toronto (local) so I'll make that decision closer to race time.  A little nervous about jumping back in to running... as in "will I be starting from scratch?".  I'll weigh myself tomorrow out of curiousity to see what my season start weight is.  I think I'm probably 5# heavier than I want to be.  Tonight I'll need to clear the basement cobwebs and set up my trainer for tomorrow morning ugh.

Feeling a bit better today, think I just needed a good hard rest day.  It's sleet & freezing rain here. Ugly out.  Not going to the gym in it.  Was hoping to go outside and cut back the rose bushes (best done in winter) and we need to work on the pool cover cause it's sagging with the weight of snow.....but we aren't going out in that mess.  I am thinking I might make up some of yesterdays missed mileage on the treadmill though.
Decided to let the run pass.  Felt like it just wouldn't be a good idea to make up the mileage.  Wasn't doing 10 miles on the mill and wasn't going outside either.

Sunday swim with the team.  This was my second Sunday.  I seem to struggle with Sunday focus.  I have lead the lane both weeks.  my mind totally wanders - coffee, breakfast, chit chatting with myself.  I have a devil of a time doing the descending sets on Sunday.  Interesting.
 
Bike was REALLY easy.  Could have gone harder but it was nice to not be last, not be struggling to keep up and not have any 'bad' stuff in my head.  So while I consider it 34 junk miles....It was really nice.
 
The run.  Did my 2 min run/ 1 min walk with my cadence beeper. legs were tight but not painful enough to really want to stop.  Pretty much 30 min to warm up and then was good to go.  While it frustrates me to run/walk...I need to allow myself the method as it does work.

Welcome to March with 8 inches of snow.
Whatever.......
I'm getting really anxious about running or lack of running all of the sudden. I want to be running more. Not even a lot, just enough that I can race a sprint. Like I said, making me anxious. If I can get over that 2 year chronic tendonitis issue I should be able to get this freaking knot out of my heel!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Church was as empty as I have ever seen it today. Took kids sledding at Tiff's after lunch. She has a big hill. Then for some reason they wanted to trudge around trying to walk in the woods by her house. The snow was over DD's knees, DS's boot fell off in the snow. They liked it though. It was kind of quiet and peaceful.

Ran a half-marathon today. Had not really trained for it and still recovering from Arrowhead and did a hard bike ride yesterday, also. 37 degrees and windy drizzle; it was pretty tough conditions and hands were frozen stiff.

Finished 3rd in AG and got a belt buckle award, so that's pretty cool.

It's a shiny new month! We got about 4 inches of snow last night, which will need to be shoveled after I have a cup of coffee. Can hear a cardinal singing happily in the back yard and it's such a happy, hopeful sound.

On tap for today: need to get a respectable long run in and I don't think I can take another treadmill run. If the plows have been out, I'll hit the roads. Then a swim and maybe some strength.

Update: We got closer to 11 inches of snow. Parking lots and side streets are still a mess; decided to skip going to the gym in favor of home workout. Made a pot of turkey chili using a knockoff recipe of Paneras chili, the whole house smells good.

Feeling great. Slept well. Other than cooking a chicken picatta meal for the family the day was very easy to get through. Energy level was great. Kidneys are definitely working just fine.

Ran 11 today. Right calf def. is strained. How'd that happen? Ran easy, kept pace constant, and avoided any surges or speed.

So, a quick comparison of my 2012 and 2015 training. Very similar volume, HOWEVER, the 2015 volume was all done at MUCH faster paces overall.
