Ran first from home (could not resit the trail today...hill repeats instead of a threshold mile) and then the girl and I went to Indian Springs. Agreed to bike only an hour so she'd come with me. She did me a favor. Legs were very tired. And It was hot and muggy. And I got bit by two flying I don't know whats! :)

Hammy was ok though. Good idea to postpone running till today.

Well, that was fun! Photos, info, data, etc to come. Going to take a teeny tiny nappy.

My pal Ali Engin was there taking pictures. He does some really cool sports photography stuff with the blurred background and whatnot. And the shadow. Pretty freaking cool.

I hit my strength time goals, and was close to the cardio goal; considering I made 2 trips to DC last week I definitely consider that a victory!

Good workout today. Added glute and shoulders to help avoid injury and build up wimpy parts. Ate egg hash with turkey sausage 2 hours prior, muscle milk light after.

A have a friend from college who qualified for 70.3 worlds via a massive roll down earlier this year. Today at the race she broke a toe coming out of the water and didn't realize it; just thought it hurt from stubbing it. She rode up and down the alps and ran a half marathon on it. What a warrior!

Off to ride my bike!  Matoaca Road--well surfaced but a bit heavy on the 4 wheeled traffic going too fast if you ask me) and the intersection across Hickory is not the best.

Had hot spots by 13 miles.  Nothing is improving them.  I think it's time to replace the 8 year old bike shoes.  Endorphin is having a sale next weekend.  Maybe I can find some new bike shoes.

When I get back we're going to the county fair.

OH my. Did a 12 hour CNA shift yesterday and they were going to be impossibly short today so I volunteered to go in from 5am-12pm so I could still go to a school co-worker's baby shower. It was my first day being primarily responsible for specific people. So, so glad that I've worked really hard from the start to be super-helpful with these new co-workers 'cause I felt like they really came through for me today with picking up some of my duties so I could leave when planned, answering questions and generally being patient with my ineptitude. At this point at least, I do want/plan to keep my status as "relief employee" (which requires working at least 5 shifts every 3 months) even after Case starts back to work so that revenue avenue stays open in case we need it later. Of course, he was rejected at his last three interviews in a row, so keeping some of that lack of hope to myself and I guess now BT. It was hard to NOT be annoyed when I got home last night and he told me all abou[...]

Made it to early church so I was able to get the pool at 12:00 for lap swim. Woo Hoo!! Kids were fussing around about being bored so we went to the inlaws fishing. Mia got her run in out there. She is snoozing in on the carpet, not moving an inch so no need to take her for a walk tonight :). She ran HARD and she is one fast dog. She has a whole different gear from running to eat my dust sprint. Maybe I will put my Garmin on her to see how fast she can go :).

Run at Bear Creak Reservoir. About four miles in I passed two runners. Jeff and Wally. Wally had come in 15th in a SD 100 Miler. NOt bad for a 72 year old. Amazing.
