Signed up for the 5k the day before the half marathon in Seattle in June. What is it with getting 3 cool medals. Chris was in - he thought it would be a great warm up for his race on Sunday. Super secret goal - to BQ at Seattle for him but he has a pretty steep time to beat.

Oooof I was going to walk tonight, but had a haircut after work, then had to do a Facebook Marketplace sale exchange, then I went to dinner with my Mom. So at home I just wanted to sit for a minute. 
I sold a bunch of corks from wine bottles on Facebook Marketplace! At some point I started saving them, thinking I would do something crafty - but let's be honest I'm never going to. I counted them (about 130) and put them on Marketplace for $20. Someone offered me $10 and I said SOLD! $10 easy bucks!

Pull Drill - Focus will be on learning to 'catch' the water with your forearm and pull yourself through the water. If you feel your lats (the muscles under your arm pits that go down the side of your back) engage, then you are starting to get it. If your shoulders are tired, then you are still using too much shoulder and not enough lats.

Kick (Regular) - regular kickboard kick or kick on back with hands over head, fingers locked.

We had a small potluck for our department yesterday that went very well. It was good to get to know the new girl Alaina a little better -- she's really quiet and initially I thought that might be due to shyness, but now I think she's just a quiet young lady. I'm impressed with her confidence and people handling skills. She sits on the other side of the cubicle from me and yesterday she was taking no from one of the engineers. Some of the engineers like to think they understand software and graphics better than the Marketing staff and try to micromanage things, and that wasn't happening with Alaina. There's a new sheriff in town...

Anyway I ate a ton of delicious stuff at the potluck and went back for seconds on a couple and am having a bit of a sugar hangover. Got home kind of late and squeaked out a short ride on Zwift and started sweating almost immediately. Back on the wagon today....

Tire Pulls
There were a few comments about tire pulls.  Jackie has worked with me on this two separate times and in the process, I acquired my very own tire.  The purpose is to work on run form, especially getting that little bit of forward lean that is desirable. Get an old tire, drill it and put an eye bolt in it. Secure the eye bolt inside the tire. You’ll also need two old bike tubes – mtb is better for this but road tubes are OK (they just get stretchy)


Tie a old bike tube to the eye bolt

Make a harness out the second old bike tube and tie the harness tube to the eye bolt tube.  Step through the tube, Twist the front of it several times to shorten it and then put it over your head.

Drag it around the 'hood.

Rain poured down in the night which kept me up then our doorbell went on a total freak out at 3:30 in the morning. It kept cycling through all of its different songs and tones as if someone was at door ringing it nonstop. So irritating! I did manage to fall back to sleep thank goodness.
Cooler temps came with all that rain. High was only 55 today windy and cloudy. And we're supposed to get lots more rain this weekend I guess. Glad I got out on my bike when the sun was shining earlier this week!

Cardio 3 is insane.  Completely off the hook insane.  It was not pretty--but I got it done (for today)
I signed back into my work computer last night after I got home from the viewing...Worked until about 10 ...decided sleeping this morning was my priority so I stayed in bed until 6 then just did the 22 minute hard corps workouts de jour.  I have Jericho's half & half for this evening---it's a 45 minute workout so I'm not doing it at lunch--but I might go out for a walk cause the SUN IS OUT!! (first time in a week)
