was supposed to start out season today with the boys. Just.not.ready. Mentally or physically. I just want to finish up the year in the run durability plan. I messaged my Coach, he gave me his blessing to start in January as I always have and cracked me up in the process. I thanked him and said PS...you get me. He replied with a photo of Tom Cruise with the words "you complete me" I snorted out loud when I saw it. It sure is great to have a wicked smart guy with a sense of humor in your corner. :D

I wish I could be that girl...you know the one. Driven, high achiever, red liner and always hungry for the next pr. But I am not that girl. Not by a long shot. I will save all that mental energy and grrrr for INSEASON when I hope to hit my goals come July 23rd.

I will do as my coach suggested and work in some ftp rides to prep mentally for the work to come, focus more on my intervals in the runs, and still run my trail for my birthday with out concern of trashing my legs f[...]

Fun weekend. Big ride Saturday, super short but fun race yesterday. Then the weekend ended with Aspen yakking on the carpet of her room at midnight, and me doing laundry and cleaning puke out of the rug until 1 am. Blech. Think she got food poisoning. Then I took Owen to school this morning and came home to dog diarrhea all over the kitchen. So yeah - been cleaning up bodily fluids since midnight. Rock on! My life is so glamorous!!!!
Anyhow, sorry to be gross. Aspen is on the couch now watching movies, totally fine, but I figured I couldn't send her to school. And I'm trying to figure out if I can sneak down and get some painting done. Glad today is a day off the bike. Just have a 20 minute core/roller session planned. Legs want a break!

Foundation workout plus some serious stretching and hip openers (much-needed, omg tight after this weekend!).

Felt a little bad; I think this was the first year I didn't go to my Dad's church choir holiday concert. It was last night and I was feeling run down from my long run so passed. As much as I try to like Christmas, the holidays just don't do anything for me. The incessant music, the decorations, Santa, Elf on the Shelf, the commercials - it all annoys me to no end. I know I'm in the minority and most folks really enjoy this time of year so I'm not one to be a spoil sport (in public). But as a PSA, the holidays suck when you don't have someone to share them with. And having it thrown in your face at every turn just makes it worse.
I came into work this morning to see every inch of our building has exploded with Christmas. We are having a decorating contest (could be your cube, department, whatever). And for the annual Halloween contest (don't even get me started), we usually just do whatever it takes to look like we are participating, but for this first Christmas decorating contest t[...]

Back feels pretty good.  Stiff in the morning but has been missing the persistent ache that I dealt with for so long.  Yay!
I'm still working on making good choices (food, TV, wine, etc).  Saturday was an embarrassing blow-out of decadence, but it helps to emphasize how good it feels to make good choices in comparison.
This week I'll keep working on the scheduling.  I continue to want to do too much.  Tonight I am going to run at least 1 mile on the treadmill.  I am allowed to stop after that, but 2 being my goal.   I hope the new shoes are awesome!
-----
If I ran another 31.37 miles in December I could hit 650.  That would be a nice high bar for me.  That seems so doable...

Swimming tonight! Feel tired today.
Very exciting - demolition at our house begins today! (Architect is still updating drawings but contractor is ready so we decided to start the demo without the drawings as most of the work hasn't really changed, at least for the demo)

Back to the real world, ugh.  Given the options, I'll take employment at this point in my life. But I can sure see a day when I am working less and enjoying more.
No bike ride last night, so hopefully we'll do the Christmas light ride tonight.
I took this pic last week and it made me sad. However, I had it reposted by someone pretty high up at the county.  I am hopeful that something is done about this. I know I'll be involved if they do a clean up day.

Earlier this week I shared a picture of a beautiful #sunrise, taken from the path on my way out to the fishing pier. Along that same path, I took this one as well. Two sides of the same coin, two very different things to see in the very same area. As someone I know likes to say, "This is why we can't have nice things." Unfortunately, we need to put in some work to keep this from overtaking the other. It's our world folks, so we should all do our part. ~ #swflorida #charlottecountyfl #cleanupyour[...]
