A little yard work, hopefully a trainer ride and then drive to pick up the packet for the race I cannot do. There is some good SWAG in it. Tonight is a shrimp and grits dinner honoring a family friend. It will be on the beach on the other side of the lake, if my foot is feeling okay, I may walk over there. It should be a beautiful night for it.

Took a day off! Starting Monday, either me or my colleague will be in class until basically the 4th of July (taking a week off for Memorial Day week) and so there will be no vacation time until we're both back in the office. Going to be a tough stretch, for sure.
Been productive this morning: dropped off stuff at Goodwill, stopped at Panera to get breakfast, took Belle to get her nails clipped (she was not pleased), rearranged some of my in-home networking stuff, played ball with Belle until she forgot how displeased she was with me and just now sitting down and relaxing a bit.

Yay for Friday!  I am headed to the gym this afternoon to swim(!!!) and sign up for that XIT class... It's basically my gym's version of orange theory.  It requires a polar heart rate sensor so that it can plug into the class system... of course all my products are garmin.  I ended up ordering the Polar HR7 but trying to figure out how to sync everything is driving me nuts!  I want to be able to import calories into MFP since I think it will be more accurate... last night, for example, I plugged in Zumba for my class and it said almost 800+ calories burned?!  I really doubt that!
Anyway.... to get this to sync, I have to pair the monitor to the Polar Beat app.. and then pair that to the Polar Flow app... and then finally I can pair that to MFP.  Oh, but I can't sync Polar Beat and Polar flow unless I download the application to my computer?  Huh?  I found a 3rd party app (Digfit) that would do everything - record from the monitor + syn[...]

TOUR DE CURE TOMORROW! Weather is going to be chilly - 50 degrees and 20 mph winds in the morning but at least it's not severe weather like last year. Kind of glad I'm only doing the 25K! My work team people are all doing different distances, which all start and end at different times, so a group photo isn't going to happen. Hopefully I can find a few folks in our Cox jerseys and snap some pics. Our team has raised more than $1,500 which I feel so good about! $800 of that was a corporate donation but it all goes into the same bucket.
One last chance if anyone is interested in helping me reach my (new) goal: http://main.diabetes.org/goto/lisaconklin

Nothing happened last night. Had dinner and was in bed with Benadryl by 730. Slept through the night for the most part. Feel pretty good this morning.

Time to say it outloud...I'm struggling a bit. Nothing that's really showing up in charts/graphs...but the consistency I had once had is showing a bit of wear. Yesterday I slept in, skipped my strength, and ran in the evening. At the time I was saying I wasn't feeling well, but then it happened again this morning.
I don't think I necessarily didn't feel well. I think I woke up and didn't want to work out, and somehow decided that was a good enough reason to skip. And it isn't. I know I always feel much better once I start the workout, and by the time I'm done I'm loving it.
This morning I woke up and made a conscious decision to skip my swim. I am having a bit of pain in the arch of my foot, which began after wearing heels on Monday, so I still feel okay about my decision to not run this afternoon. But I need to come up with a plan for the weekend that will get me back on track.
Most of all, I need to not ignore this issue. In the past I have had some motivation/consis[...]

I enjoyed last nights workout, my ankle did not.  It swelled up--mildly, but swelled nonetheless.  I put compression on it after my shower, iced it last night and kept it elevated.  Have compression on today too.  Let the Drill Instructor know--but really I know it is my reminder to not do anything stupid more than anything.
I think all the trainers are trying to do small groups now.  Makes sense, they can train 4 clients at once, if they have 6 sessions like that a day they have made a whole lot more money than 1 client at a time--even with the reduced rate for group sessions.
We spoke to Thing One about the job offer....Dinwiddie had 3 openings and interviewed 11 people.  The fact that they came back to her so fast is impressive.  They want to put her in the middle school room, but that is the one that requires the adaptive certification which she doesn't have yet.  She is checking with the board of education on the requirement. &nbs[...]

Huh.  I was just offered a job and I have to decide by this afternoon.  I hadn't planned to go back in to the "organized" workforce (for lack of a better description) but when they called and asked to meet I figured I had nothing to lose.  That was Wed. morning.  I was ambivalent after and didn't think it would really amount to anything.  The woman is a friend of someone I used to work for and so they chatted and then called to say they have modified the position to be a great fit for my skillset and experience.  None of the boring operational stuff.  All building and creating.  It's a decent offer.  It's just a lot to consider.  She's leaving the country for work and wants an answer this afternoon.  Working on my own schedule from home is sweet though it's not like I take that much advantage of it in terms of workouts etc.  But it's a less hectic lifestyle for the whole family although... my child's new school will make eve[...]

So the wife and I are about two weeks into looking for a new house. We're looking to stay in JoCo, just not as far west in Olathe so that we're closer to the kids' school and also for something bigger. For those curious there aren't a lot of houses on the market. The ones that do pop up are off the market in a day or two so you have to be pretty vigilant about finding new houses on the market. This is not like the process we went through pre-financial crisis when we would spend a leisurely afternoon with a realtor touring houses. We figure that ours will sell just as fast based on what similar houses in our neighborhood have done, but were not selling until we know where and when we're going. Hopefully this doesn't drag out too long.

Ride done. I have a quick work meeting, then a trip to the...
POOL! Yes, after nearly 6 months not in the water, it is sink or swim time.
A late night at work, and I can't wait until the weekend gets here.

What matters more than people? I can't think of many things. Be it family, friends, co-workers, neighbors, or anyone else, they all matter. So be kind. Say "Thank You". Say "Please". Hold a door open. You never know the burdens that others are carrying, and you just might brighten their day a little. A #tbt to a train ride through Alaska. #getoutside #exploreyourworld #whatsyour20
