Back in the office - brought the bike to ride home after meeting with school but a buddy wants to ride downtown so I will meet him and catch a ride home with him - commuting tomorrow hopefully.

While I was away the boss from the shop texted me - he is buying me a new bike to ride for a year - no complaints here :)

BTW - no internet really down there so I had no way to post anything - but I did ride over 5 hours of total bike time and even ran one day. I even got a beach flat :(

My right knee ached badly the rest of the day on Sunday, prompting a day off today. It's not so bad this morning. I will be gentle with my next run for sure.

Happy monday. My feet and legs are sore from the festival. And I'm tired. And have two HUGE mosquito bites right on my sit bones that are not making work comfortable. Boo.

decent swim.  slower than Wednesday, but my arms tell me it was a tough work out.  the second set of 100's definitely suffered and 150s weren't great.

Supposed to be a rest day, but since I missed swims Friday and yesterday I figured a swim wouldnt hurt.  Technically I guess I didnt miss anything since the instructions for my plan in the 2 weeks after a race is that the plan is just a suggestion.  Listen to the body and take the rest when needed.
Anyhow, a great morning for a swim.  Flat lake, sunny skies and perfect temps.  Only a couple of us at the lake though.

Yesterday morning I thought, "I've been sleeping quite well the past several days!  Minimal wakeups in the middle of the night, comfortable, waking up feeling pretty well-rested."  And then last night happened.  haha  Just could not get comfortable, and it seemed like I woke up every hour.  Including waking up for good at 4:30 - just laid there until the alarm went off at 5:15.  Annoying!

"GET TO MILE 18 on the run!"

Rest day. Hmmmmm...somehow, misread the training schedule for yesterday, though it's not too bad. Should've done a 1/2 hour more on each yesterday. Well, will readjust this weekend, though what I might do since I believe in the long bricks is actually add time to the Z2 run after the long ride instead to simulate the race. Last time, I didn't think I got that and though I could ride long one day and run long the next, I didn't think I trained like I should've. So, Sat might turn out to be a 5.5 hr ride and 2-2.5 hour run to more simulate the length of the race and get my body used to that. This is also what's in Matt Fitzgerald's article "How to Nail the Ironman Marathon", where he says about doing a metric Ironman. While I did more than that on the bike for 5.5 hours, the run would be 16.1 miles. So 2-2.5 hours at Z2 would put me right there. It would give me good practice to 1) not go out so fast and 2) see what happens with shortening my pace a bit longer. This wouldn't ha[...]

Met up with Dave post ride at this cool market in Milford and got dinner stuff while exploring the store. Expensive, but fun!

Then we hit the lake with our floating loungers. So awesome! We motored across the lake instead of dropping anchor just outside our cove as many other boats had, and had a beer and just chilled until the local party poopers came by and told us we couldn't anchor by the island as it was their property. There was a big stink about it a few years ago, but I wasn't sure of which island it was! It was stupid...two fifty year olds making no noise, just floating. Our radio wasn't even on. The boat co-pilot party pooper even video taped us! In case we went crazy and opened a can of whoop ???? Weird! I'm sure they have encountered some holes but seriously! Dave was a little testy...he's all "that boat may not come into our cove. We'll put up a toll booth just to deny them...eff them...we own the dirt across the cove too...No cove for you!" Lol!

Blerg.  Swim cancelled. It was actually cancelled with lots of notice.  I, however, did not read my email until I was on the subway en route to said swimming.
I got off the train to head home and then i realized I should just go to work so i could leave early. I would have to get changed out of my swimsuit and put on makeup at work. But those facilities are actually preferable to those of the pool.  So here I am before 8 am.

Molly DNF'd at 66.7 miles

She thought she missed the second cut off - she didn't but said she wasn't having any fun and bagged it.

I drove the entire way home - 17 hours straight with junk food and stops to get gas and go to the washroom.
