Stats taken after ride and before dinner, %water 70.1, muscle 39.0, bone 4.1. Today called for a shorter but more intense ride than yesterday. Had a tough time deciding as it also called for more hills, perhaps ones 1-3 miles long. Thought about Raven Rock but couldn't really find a decent route to incorporate it. Finally decided that Route 26 from Libertytown swinging north on 97 and then back on Nicodemus would work. Some long gradual uphills along that route with a few shorter ones not so gradual. Had to stand for one on Nicodemus in the beginning. When I got onto 31 just before New Windsor, I started to lose steam and decided that when I reached the time for the ride, to stop and eat something and then save the ride. Rest of ride I would be in recovery mode just taking it easy. Nice and sunny again out and around 80 with some humidity, my kind of weather! I had thought about going to Milkhouse since it was so close but timed the ride start wrong after doing errands and di[...]

The last month of school is tough.  A lot of stuff going on with the kids with performances, testing, etc.  I hope to get a little more consistent this week.

I really didn't plan to run this fast...Legs feel a little heavy from the past few days of cycling. I thought I scaled it back, but do remember speeding up, trying to get away from a cloud of biting flies about halfway around the lake.

What a pathetic run month.

Cut the dog walk short, as the beautiful weather has brought out tons of friends, both human and canine, to meet and greet as we make our way around the circle. Now its time to shuffle on over to have s'mores with my parents, and hitting the grocery store on the way back home.

So here's the deal with s'mores: they are one of the best foods ever, right? This time around, we're swapping the graham crackers out for Goya's Maria cookies, and ditching the plain chocolate in favor of Ghirardelli milk chocolate and caramel squares. Epic! And truly, summer can't actually start until you've made s'mores. That's a fact!

As my parents start to get older, it becomes a little tougher to enjoy spending time with them. There's so much worry involved now, and they aren't even really elderly yet. If they're this stubborn about taking meds at 65, what is it going to be like in 15+ years? Doing little things like the s'mores keeps them in a better mood, which gives me a bit more "good daugh[...]

The big waterfall at Staunton was pretty impressive today with all the rain we've gotten. I almost didn't ride up to the overlooks, but glad I did:

Managed a 4.5 ride today, plan was 4 but I kind of misjudged how long the final climb would take me. It was slow, but steady, and now my legs are SHOT. Loaded the bike on the car and started driving just in time for it to HAIL the whole way home. Glad I rode by myself - if I had waited to ride with the girls I would have been caught out there in the hailstorm!
So, 25 miles with 4.500 ft of climbing took me almost 4.5 hrs. Breck 32 is 34 miles with 5,000 ft => still have a ways to go with my training to get there!

Swimming today.  Probably a long  set.  Wanted to do a continuous swim but started off kind of fast for me (first 100 was just2 minutes).  Figured I really haven't swam all that much lately so a continuous 2000 yards would probably suck big time.  Decided on a ladder of sorts.  Wore my Garmin without the HR strap.  Interesting data from it.  Not sure what SWOLF means.  Could definitely see where my rest intervals were on the graph.
Tomorrow I need to do a brick in the morning and if I have time go back to swim (gym closes at 2 PM).

The weekend was a huge success!  With the exception of starting out the day struggling to get to the parking garage (a Memorial Day parade had all sorts of streets closed), everything went smoothly.  Jersey Boys was fun to see, Morton's Steakhouse not only had excellent food, but the service was top-notch and with a personal touch (they had pre-printed menu's saying "Happy 50th Anniversary", took a group picture and put it in a card for my parents, and gave them a free souffle for dessert), and then the architecture boat tour this morning was really interesting.  Whole lot of walking around and seeing sights as well.
I'm happy to be home, though.  My roommate has a new girlfriend so I expect that I'm not going to see her much -- she took care of the dogs while I was gone, but she was gone when I arrived home and I'd be surprised to see her before Tuesday after work.

I really freaking hate when my kids have sleepovers. DS had his best friend over. Every limit has to be pushed. Fussing about sitting to eat dinner, playing video games all night long, staying up until 10:30 and now they are both awake at 5:45 am. Go to sleep. There is nothing to do at 5:45 in the morning. Oh wait - play more video games I'm sure.
And I have a headache again.
Mom bought a bunch more plants for me so she is planning on coming out today.

Left hip flexor is sore, so will skip the run today. Yesterday's course had some challenging parts with switch back segment of ice age trail. May not have been the brightrst idea to push it while still recovering from 50, but glad I did.

Not much good I can say about todays run other than it was the longest I have gone this year.  I do believe I was a bit dehydrated due to a fun night with Dud and Y.
