I am absolutely fascinated with what people have listed and at what price on Craiglist. In many cases it'd be just as cheap to buy new, but I couldn't help but click to find out what a "banana chair with rocker" and an "Armwar" were.

9:04 AM: Working. Working. Working. Working. Then hustling out of here to get to a TUESDAY NIGHT RIDE @ 6:45. Hope the weather holds... possibly supposed to rain. Hope not. Tuesday rides are going to be a bit faster. 17-18 mph. Looking forward to this. Blasting some of the carbon out of the old engine.
7:14 PM: Due to storms in the area, tonight's ride was canceled. Much to my chagrin.
I am using this slot of time to deep condition my hair and re do my pedicure. I am having a glass of wine, waiting for my hair to cook, and watching... INTERVENTION. It's like 2010 all over again.  Chris' bike ride was NOT canceled, so I'm alone, at home, with my wine, my hairdo, my toenails and my cats. Windows open. Notsobad.
Check out my guy Peter Sagan...

What a ham. (Clicky clicky for a little bonus video!)

Welcome to IM training week 27! 4 to go!

Stats taken after strength session and before dinner, %water 70.3, muscle 39.2, bone 4.1. Followed the plan for today. Chilly this morning, only around 60! What month is this??? Wish it was this was for IMLO! Probably no such luck but it's been an abnormal summer so far. So who knows? Trying with the Tempo Trainer again and I don't think I'm doing the catch correct for the stroke rate. It seems to be fine, though perhaps a bit hurried. I just seem to not be moving as fast as I think I should be for the rate. Will continue to work on it.

Then, decided to retest once again my FTP on the CT. Changed wheels as I thought perhaps something was wrong with the other causing the tubes to go flat. This one seemed okay as I started and I went through the sequence okay. FTP = 250. So, still in line with the test I did back in Jan, if not a bit better. So, not sure exactly how to equate this with outside riding. I have an email into p[...]

A body in motion stays in motion. A body at rest stays at rest.
Uh, yeah. The body at rest is me. It's been two weeks since I've done ANYTHING remotely active, and I have a 25 mile mountain bike race in a month. Maybe I should go do something?? About to take the kids to the gym so I can fit in a run. Supposed to rain a ton this afternoon, so biking might be out the next couple of days...

Leg press, hamstrings, calf raises, pullups (one with no assist - need to keep working on these!), shoulder press, pushups with feet on ball, planks and knee tucks on ball.

My Shenanigans

Major life changes (well, a bit of an exaggeration).
The wedding pictures from the weekend of July 20th had me realizing how overweight I have become.  Changed my diet and started to workout as soon as I got back on the 24th.  The weekend was more housework and walking, but still active.  I think I got a run in on Friday, but I would have to check my Garmin.
For the record, I measured (and I KNOW it was a bad time to do it, right after a wedding and vacation), but I was 260 lbs, almost 30 on the BMI scale, 30% BF on the home scale, and basically 30 to 40 lbs overweight.  That all went down a little after returning to my normal schedule, but it's still bad.
SO...  THAT'S the starting benchmark (and heaviest I have EVER been) that caused me to really take this seriously (that and the fact my new-ish 3 piece suit felt like wetsuit in terms of fit) that cause me to toss out the crap, eat the good, plunk down money on a new gym/studio, and get a grip on my w[...]

Life in San Diego

I had a slight headache this morning, but I felt okay enough to be up at 3:45 and on the trainer at 4:00am. Another day. Took some Tylenol. Headache was gone by the time I started the run. Lots and lots going on at work. Trying to keep up and do a good job.

Last big week and weekend of training before taper. I am very happy I will be racing Louisville for the last time the race will be in August. Doing #10 where I did #1. Getting excited! Moving the race to October will change the entire vibe of the race. Part of Louisville's charm is surviving the heat and humidity.

Going to try and check out one of the outdoor pools tonight... the Deep Eddy!  It's all of $3 to get in for residents, and free parking.  What could possibly go wrong??
Onward to Austin, Part II
Tony in the driver's seat, me sitting passenger, 11 banker's boxes full of stuff along with 3 suitcases of various sizes, George on the bike rack, and whatever else we could stuff into the car.  I have NO idea how long we drove for, but it was actually really quiet on the roads.  To the point where we contemplated just driving all night, until we came to our senses and realized that would totally f**k us up for the next few days.  Around 1:30am or so we found a Holiday Inn or something on the side of the road that we stopped at to crash for a few hours, and then back on the road around 7am.
I guess being July 4th meant that everyone was already where they wanted to be as we kept waiting for the weekend traffic that just never arrived.  We were in cont[...]
