Plunked down my $700 this morning to register for IM Chattanooga 2018! Got an early link for volunteering, and figured I may as well pull the trigger. I'm mildly scared of the run course, but I've got a whole year to keep training on these hills. It's gonna be such a great race!

Caught a bluegill for breakfast this morning. Didn't do so well at cleaning him this time. Picked a LOT of scales off - quite annoying. lol! Had him with some black beans and blueberries. Very tasty!

Heading out in the boat. Going to float around and do some fishing and reading and catch up on my tan. :) Goggles should be here later, so I may get an open water swim in.

I had the best time at Robin's dock/porch night. Everyone was funny and sarcastical and very friendly and her mom clearly loved being the center of attention. It was awesome!

I have a trail race tomorrow :(
I signed up for a Thanksgiving Day 5k.  It's close to home and I'm interested in trying a plain old 5k plan.   Works out perfectly to start the week after the 10 miler.

Attempting to set some goals.  I printed out Hal Higdon's half marathon novice 1 training plan yesterday.  It's been a LONG time since I looked at one of these.  The Tallahassee Half Marathon is 2/4.  That means the 12 week plan starts 11/12.  So I have 7 weeks to work up to a 3-4 mile distance and base.  If there are no more hurricanes and my thyroid would cooperate, I may try to do this.

I've been reading the book Runner's World Train Smart, Run Forever: How to Become a Fit and Healthy Lifelong Runner by Following The Innovative 7-Hour Workout Week.  I haven't gotten to the actual workout yet, just the background info - most of which I already know, so I definitely think what they recommend will make sense to me. I got the book from the library to see what it included before buying it.

Good workout.  My arms are certified jello.
Beachbody sent me a response last night. It was something with the settings.  I was able to fix it without any problems.  Just odd that it worked one day then it didn't. I never changed settings in between...

Did not sleep well last night - the normal first night in a hotel. Made myself get up early (it felt like the middle of the night due to time difference) to get in a morning workout. It is going to be a long day and I am not sure if I will have energy this evening. The hotel has a 7:30am shuttle to the office.

So... Yesterday I did my open water swim and came home and showered. The shower was cool but not cold. Then I went grocery shopping  While I was doing this, Kevin was mountain biking. He got home and showered. His shower was not warm at all. He met me in the driveway and said, "I have bad news, the water heater is dead." We got an estimate today. They are replacing the unit tomorrow.
We seriously looked at tankless but it cost just over twice as much. It would last twice as long but there was really no cost savings, especially with just two people in the house.  We simply could not justify it.

Tonight I ride. I am getting antsy for some other trails to open, but post Irma we have seen a whole bunch of wet and flooded. I did one afternoon of trail work. I'm waiting on SCORR to do another, out in the Carlton Preserve on Boldly Go. I've heard it is flooded out there. Palmetto Trail in the Myakka Forest is flooded as well. I stopped out there a few days ago and barely pulled into the parking lot, which was ankle deep in water. The roads heading out to Myakkahatchee are still under a bit of water from what I've heard, so I'm doubtful that Live Long, Prosper, or Point Of Least Resistance are open. Today I'll hit Hillsborough again, probably stopping for pictures and such. I need a shot of the beach ball off the trail. Hopefully I have enough time and tank to get through it twice.

Woke up at 4:45, stumbled out of bed and went straight to the grocery store. Little Miss wanted pumpkin spice muffins and I didn't have any pumpkin and we needed other groceries too. Baked the muffins, off to work all day and by after school I was wiped out tired. I started dozing off in the recliner at 6:00 but the dog was bugging me for a walk. Walking her revived me a little bit so I managed a workout after all.

HASfit 30 min high interval strength training workout adjusting squats and lunges to avoid knee irritation.
