Who's up? This chick ... 2:22am. Have to get up early to go to work for training this morning, so I am not excited that I am awake. Design guide training for the Sub-Zero Built-in series refrigerators today.

Fingers crossed that sleep comes my way soon.

Thinking a lot about the potential of PRing at Louisville. I don't want to jinx myself, but I can't help but run the numbers.
Swim: I am consistently a 1:20 Ironman swimmer. I fully expect to be within 1-2 minutes of this time again.
Bike: This is where I think I can knock the most time off my overall. Past results have been 7:31, 7:32 and 7:46. If I can even cut it to 7:15 that would be a 15.4-mph average. And honestly I think I can do better than that, seeing that I am averaging 16+ on 60-mph rides today... but I'm trying to be realistic with hot foot issues and multiple potty stops.
Run: Knowing what I am (not) capable of, I think the run will be about the same as last Louisville - 6 hours. It's a flat course so I shouldn't have the trouble I did at Vineman with the crazy hills.
All together (budgeting 18 minutes for transitions) that puts me at a 14:53. My PR is 15:09. Totally do-able, right???

Haven't been sleeping well again. Frustrating. Good news is that I don't start working until 10 this morning, so I can get my run in, go to yoga, then come home and take a snooze before I have to get ready for work.

Last full day in Sonoma County. We are spending most of the day in the Alexander Valley and Dry Creek AVAs. We visited Simi and Geyser Peak before stopping at Dry Creek General Store for lunch. After lunch, we visited Clos de Bois (yes, the do mass market stuff but that's not what you get at the winery, you get their small batch stuff) and then went to the hotel pool for the rest of the afternoon. I tried to do some swimming during a lull in the activity but I only got in about 150 meters before several families descended upon the pool again.

Santa Rosa has a Wednesday Night Market on Fourth Street and we did that for dinner. Fun!

Debating whether to head down to Golden for the Dirt Divas ride tonight, or just do my own thing. I'll probably go, but I'm getting a bit burnt out on leading rides. I just want to take it easy and follow!
Still waiting to hear back from the shop on the status of my bike. I expected it to be here last week. Would be really awesome if I had it by this weekend, who knows where it is right now?? For the record, I'm super excited about this particular bike and will be thrilled about it despite the wait - I'd buy it again - BUT I will probably not buy from this particular shop in the future. I haven't heard from them once in 9 months of waiting. All of the updates I've gotten came straight from Pivot through my team. I sort of wish they would at least call me every once in a while with an update. Is that asking too much?
Super low energy and unmotivated today. And I've been eating crap (reheated pasta, coffee cake) all day. I'm thinking one has something to do with the other. No[...]

So, yesterday after my swim, I didn't shower. I didn't change. I didn't do anything but crawl out of the pool, wrap a towel around my waist, jump in the car and drive home. I then forgot to shower at home, because I fell asleep on the couch. This morning I reeked of chlorine as I sweat on my walk. This is so glamorous.
The plan is this for tomorrow: Take 6:13 AM train. B picks me up and drops me off at Xsport. I should get there around 7. A short swim is better than no swim, so the plan will be to swim 2000-2200. Then get dressed and walk to work. THEN, at lunchtime, a treadmill walk. That alleviates some pressure for the week, and lets me have just 1 workout on Friday before a big weekend.
The new plan for tomorrow... drive to XSport, do the swim, leave the car here at work overnight, and take the train on Friday when I don't have an AM workout. Jesus.

Ironman dream this morning, and the most detailed I think I've ever dreamed. For some reason I completely stopped on the bike, like threw in the towel and headed to transition (my old sorority house of all places). But then got a 2nd wind and decided that despite sitting there for 6 hours I could still make the bike cut off. So I scrambled around trying to find my bike clothes, shoes, shirt (I was in my sister's closet and could only find cotton t-shirts, wondering why she only brought cotton t-shirts to spectate this race! Haha bring some tech shirts next time Brenda so I can snag one for my bike ride lol) - again the theme of searching for things. Somehow I made it on the bike and was riding through sand, while other athletes were already on the run and running faster than I could bike. It was a gloriously-yet-horrifyingly detailed dream. Amber and Brenda you were both in it - Linda I knew you were hours ahead of me but you didn't actually appear.

I think this happens every summer.  The heat and humidity, especially, makes running so hard. I am also being more active and thus generally less rested.  I start to seriously question my athletic ability and also wonder if I am suffering a terrible disease.  I know when the humidity breaks I will run, happily, again.  But until then - UGH.

The latest with the job front...
Tony is pretty sure that he'll be getting a phone call either today or tomorrow to give him the axe.  He and his editor REALLY don't see eye to eye on pretty much anything, and haven't gotten along since day one.  We'll see what happens, but fingers crossed that the other job comes through!
As for me - the HUGE problem I'm having at work is with a paralegal in the Houston office who is clearly the Queen Bee (or another word that starts with a 'B') around here, and while she's very good at what she does, she seems to have completely forgotten that unless someone actually tells me or shows me what the protocols and processes are for this firm (and where to find as their document management system is a complete joke), I'm not going to know these things.  So no, QB, I haven't started the project that JUST showed up on my docket today as without any instructions, how the HELL am I supposed to know what the HELL I'm supposed to be [...]

Racing - I've been thinking about racing a local sprint on Aug 22 but I'm losing my interest. I like to train, don't love to race. Getting up so early, swimming in a stinky lake and swimming through nasty pond grass grabbing at my feet, it just doesn't sound very inviting. Our pool at home has spoiled me. I have not swam in any open water all summer and surprisingly I don't miss it.

P90x3 Dynamix the warm up one. Trying to release the tension in my hips and IT band.
