HAAARRDDD effort this morning, plus I'm tired. I had about 15 miles in my legs when I spotted the group about a mile ahead. That being said, they were HAULIN', and it took me another 5 miles of almost all out effort to catch them.

-Update-
Meh swim. Tired.

Not a great run today. Not a great evening talk with the boy last night. The girl needed some company after the boy chat. Up way too late, worrying and hot flashing. UGH! Knew I had to get up early anyway with the temps and humidity. Just not my best day out there. It is the longest run of my training plan, and because I'm a dork even longer than I should have run. :-/

It is done and I had a cold bath with epsom salt in the foo foo bubble tub when I got home. Chickened out on the ice. Just.could.not.do.it. Lost over 6lbs of fluid (weighed the same, but sweat out all my gatorade, plus water, plus recovery drink on ride home!) GROSS!!!

Dinner at Mimi's tonight. YUM!!!

I sure hope the boy is feeling better today, but I doubt it.

Back from Ward - we had a great time. Carol's cabin is right in the middle of the (tiny) town, and we all just walked up and down the street to find stuff to paint. Ward is a funky old hippy town (Carol is TOTALLY an old hippie, her stories from the 60's are hysterical), so I challenged myself to paint the cute buildings rather than falling back on my usual pure landscapes. It was good for me to mix it up a bit, I think, and got me excited about painting again after a few weeks of struggling in the studio. Did six paintings, and 4-5 of them are frame-able, so it was also somewhat productive. Kind of nice to go with the girls. I normally paint with a bunch of guys, and I love them but damn they're so intense and competitive sometimes! It was nice to just chill with some girls who were happy to have a glass of wine and good food and paint. EXACTLY what I needed! Also, no cell service for two days so I was totally, blissfully out of touch, which is pretty rare nowadays.

Today is my Friday! My company gives us both Friday and Monday off for the Labor Day weekend. :-) 4 day weekend!!!

My muscles are still very tight and sore. This started last Friday. It is a side effect of the medication I was on for 10 days. I took the last dose on Sunday, but I have been doing some reading about this and the side effects can last several weeks after taking the last dose. I am going easy with my workouts to avoid straining or tearing anything. My lungs are doing much better. :-)

A good nights sleep.
Planning all the things to do on a long weekend.
Having coffee delivered to me at  my desk by a handsome man!
I am sad today. I just cannot get over the thousands of people fleeing their homes for the unknown. I NEVER EVER what to feel that desperation and hopelessness that would force a person to load their family into a boat and leave everything forever. And then to die. I detest, even hate, the people who dismiss this horror for what ever selfish, bigoted reason. I know things like this happen the world over, every day and that saddens me, too. We are so damn lucky in so damn many ways and I vow to do my damnedest to not forget that, EVER.
So to add to my list:
I live in peace, without fear, in a place that I love, with people I love, to do the things I love. There is no greater richness.
Signing out for the day. Gonna ride my mountain bike after work. :)

Tired. One thing common to depression is that the mental part brings on the physical part. My struggle with my brain takes a toll on my body. Plus I am old and cannot recover as well. At lease I get out of bed. Barely!

Taking daughter to her first soccer practice. Hope she likes it. They were supposed to be friends together but we don’t know if she knows anyone on the team. Oh well she is pretty good at making friends.

Taking son to rugby match on Saturday whether he likes it or not. Got the tickets on Groupon. Should be in the nosebleeds. Hope we make it to halftime.

It's a hard life sometimes! Taking a break from reading to listen to chipmunks chase one another and then this happens. I like how the runner image off the book reflects through the lens of my sunglasses (Reading Lizzy Hawkers book. Not great writing but a decent albeit disjointed story so far.) oh ya... And how the chipmunk rests on my knee! Once he'd hopped off I saw a tick crawling on my leg though ewww ! Brushed it off easily.

I think biking to work has been really good for me. It's a great way to get in nearly 6 hours of activity per week. Sure, it's not a workout per se but it's certainly active time. Most of the time it saves us a bit of money too. We did put a minor amount of money into the bike - a new bottom bracket, some new brakepads and a bike basket. Really small potatoes when we might compare it to the spend on triathlon stuff!  But then there are days Darren drives and we still buy a metropass so it's a bit of a waste. We probably should cancel the metropass but there is a convenienc factor.
So anyway, when i don't really have 'training' to do it's a great way to stay active and i think does have some crossover benefits. Like, bike handling, getting going quickly from a stop ... those sorts of things.

Tonight, I ride!  I believe that I'll do Beer Hill x5
This has been a busy time at Chez Kizer.  Kevin is going a little bit nuts getting ready for his trip. He's been packing things all week and is a little bit stressed about getting things at work to a good point before heading out.  He and a friend are going on a mountain biking trip.  Two years ago, Kevin and Chuck went to Moab.  This year they are going to Bend. I am dropping them off at the airport tomorrow morning.
Emma has been having a bit of a rough time, I think.  After literally years of no accidents, she has peed in the house three times in the past two weeks, including last night when I was doing my brick.  I was gone for about two hours. This is worrisome. I got her an appointment with Dr. Betsy tomorrow.  I am hoping that it's a UTI but at 13, it could be anything. (One of my friends was recently talking about her elderly 11 year old Golden.  Emma isn't elderly, is she?[...]
