My bio-metric screening results are back! A full vial of blood to get these results:
Waist circumference: 25 (target <35)
Triglycerides: 126 (target <150)
Blood pressure: 124/74 (target 120/80)
Blood glucose: 83 (target <100)
Total cholesterol: 172 (target 125-200)
HDL cholesterol: 62 (target >46)
LDL cholesterol: 85 (target <130)
The only "alert" area where I was on the line was blood pressure. Normal range is 120/80 and I was just slightly over that. They told me in the screening that number was "good" but I guess the computer program thinks otherwise. Really pleased with my other numbers, especially triglycerides and cholesterol. In the past I've had super low good cholesterol and I've never seen a triglyceride number.

I did the most random spontaneous thing yesterday... my friend's husband is from New Orleans and owns an ice cream shop down there (as well as several here in DC area) so he goes back and forth quite a bit.  When we were at the wine festival on Sunday, we were watching scores and one thing led to another... I asked him if the Ravens ever play the Saints, and he said, as a matter of fact they do, for Monday night football in November, do you want to go?  Uhh, YES!!!  He has season tickets and said OK, book a flight and let's go.. and I had enough airline points to do this.  I am still negative leave for work, so it's gonna be a total in-and-out trip, flying down Monday afternoon, go to the game, fly home Tuesday morning.  But I am so freaking excited!!!

Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear.
Yesterday was long and tiring. The day after upgrade went as expected. Then a benefit comedy show with dinner after that, which was enjoyable. Hopefully, today will be a bit shorter than yesterday. I'm pretty sure it can't be longer!

Feel like I'm starting to peak on schedule for my Oly race on 11/09.   Feeling good physically and that is boost for my confidence.  Next week is final build week, then recover/taper leading up to race.  Most of the work left is in my head.

Bike order is officially in to Pivot today - woot! Now I have to hurry up and wait. It's a new bike, and the first shipment of smalls won't be out until December. There's a chance they'll get me on the list for one of those - if not, it"ll be February or March... I figure that's ok because I'll be riding my fattie in the snow anyhow!

Heading home from Aspen today. Had a great time, but looking forward to seeing my kids and getting back in the studio!

9:58 AM: It was sunny this morning, so I broke my 51° rule and drove into work with the top down. (Top down, coat on, heat blasting) . Probably one of my last chances. The convertible is good for about 6 months out of the year. Maybe 7 if I can start putting the top down late March and go through early November.

Be badass every day

Slept in this morning, then went to our group breakfast and over to MIL's house to check on her. I want to get a really great lower body workout in today. I've backed off the steps because I'm spending time getting steps that I could use getting a better workout that will make me stronger. I don't have the amount of time I'd like right now to focus on building a good plan, so I'm winging it and just getting something in when I can with the theory that something is better than nothing.

While I didn't have a horrible day yesterday nutritionally, I got into the sweets, so I get to go through the fun of getting that back out of my system. Shouldn't be too difficult if I just keep in mind what my goals and and how I can better propel myself towards those goals.

Trying to Tri

Shorter tempo this morning, as I am now cutting back intensity and volume (sort of?) in anticipation of the race. The skunks were out in full force this morning - I saw three, literally almost running into one. Three miles at tempo, all significantly faster than previous efforts (7:18, 7:15, 7:16). The first mile is not accurate, as I had to stop for a brief period to let a skunk get clear of the path. I still have no clue what the 10k will be like, as my goal pace is a lot faster than tempo.

Due to travel, next two days will be off. I'm kind of looking forward to sleeping in a little bit.
