8:09am: Semi-annual review yesterday. They still love me and I get to stay for another 6 months to add to my 21+ years here.
Got home yesterday and after dumping my stuff on the kitchen table, went directly to the couch and napped. Woke up, had some dinner, did a few things and then went to bed. It's an exciting life I lead, I know.
Feeling much more energetic today. Will head out to the stairs after work and then treat myself to a salad from Portillo's for dinner. YUM.
No official plans for the weekend, which suits me just fine. I've got a list of things to accomplish, some of which include finishing the book I'm reading ("The Smartest Guys in the Room" about the Enron scandal), doing some writing and relaxing outside with an adult beverage.

Back is a bit sore from yesterday's ride on Jack (TT bike). Not used to being in aero, etc.
Sprint swim set this morning. Challenging - especially the MS, where I missed the third 50 interval by a couple of seconds. Strength followed.
Found out the other day that my mom has cancer. I'm having a hard time processing it. I know it's scary, especially for her, but right now, it's not real to me. Maybe because they don't know if it's moved to the nodes - if not, it's extremely treatable. If so, look out. Surgery to find out in a week and a half. Weird stuff.

Well the year is half over and time to take stock. Hours run, miles run and even yoga are over last year and on track to be PRs. Goal for miles run of 2000 ( or 2016 to be cute) is within reach at just under 980. A little behind but not out of reach. Goals for 2nd half is get/stay healthy for fall races. I intend to reintroduce strength into my life and I will hit the road and add a little speed training.

8:48 AM: I got the offer from Allstate. So... that means a loooooooooong commute for me, for the chance to be a trainer, gain experience in front of a group, and get out of my current situation. I'd rather work at the other company... I think... There's more long term potential there, and more room for me to grow into the role.
The plan is to listen to the offer from Allstate and ask for some time to consider. Then call the other company to find out where they are in the process. Risky to say no to Allstate if Munich is still interviewing. I could end up with nothing at all. So much armpit stress sweat. SO. MUCH.
3:34 PM: Talked to the recruiter about money. It's a decent offer, but with the long drive I would need more incentive. Left messages for Munich. It's crappy timing, seeing as it's late in the afternoon on the Thursday before a holiday weekend.

Not nearly as sore as I thought I would be after all the squats yesterday--but I know the quads and abductors have a few things to say to me.  Today is a cardio challenge, I think I should be afraid--very afraid
Today is John's last day at Bon Secours.  He turns in his stuff around 1PM then will come home and change, go pick up Miss Thing for the long weekend.  He will be applying for the job with Biotronic, as well as the one through the health care system that is more in physician contracting.  We talked about the positions last night.  Their pros and cons are completely opposite each other.  Personally, I think he'd be happier at Biotronic but isn't sure about the amount of travel involved.

Slightly better day at work yesterday although there was some minor drama at the end of the day. We have a person or two in upper management whose behavior borders on bully, which can make it hard for the managers who play by the rules, my boss being one of those.

Yesterday I kept getting twinges in my foot at the site of the cortisone injection --it almost feels like there's a string wrapped around the foot and the string is being tightened. I'm sort of beginning to think I should throw in the towel on running.

But hey, it's Friday and it's a three day weekend!

Friday, sweet Friday.
I got a nice, albeit short, ride in last night. Close to race distance, mostly close to race pace, except when going safely through intersections and stopping to say hello to TW.  I'm actually quite happy with the result, I have neglected the bike training to the most part, but I haven't lost too much. Probably because I hdidn't have much to begin with!
Janyne noted that the hammock pic from last week was probably not me, so here is one from the other night. Not much beats a venue like this!

30 bicycle crunches

Welp, I've got a core, and it's sore as hell. AND I've done two, count 'em, TWO strength workouts this week. No wonder I'm sore. I like the run/exercise thing. It makes doing those exercises much less tedious. I'd have done today's workout at the park but it's a little windy and I wasn't sure my yoga mat would stay put. As it was, I went to the gym and ran on the 100m track. That was lots of circles!!

I have a ridiculous sunburn on my back from wearing a racer back bike jersey yesterday. It's really really obvious where I can't reach with the sunscreen. I hate using aerosols but I may have to resort to that. Either that or stop wearing tops like that. Or maybe not run and ride at the height of the day! :-P

Gratitudes:
1. Cooler weather for the next couple of days.
2. I'm not in a[...]
