Another Friday, another rest day.
This morning, I dropped Kevin and Chuck at the airport for the beginning of the Bend MTB adventure.  Interesting side note about Chuck: Kevin mountain bikes with him and I road bike with him!
Emma has her appointment this afternoon. I'll report more when I have some info about that.
Last night, Emma and I continued the tradition of playing "beauty parlor" while watching Project Runway.  Emma does not care for this tradition!
UPDATE:  Emma saw Dr. Mackey today. I brought in a free catch sample.  They are sending that out for analysis since Emma was unable to provide them with a sterile sample.  Dr. Mackey said that it doesn't really sound like a UTI but it certainly could be.  He is thinking that it is age related.  He thinks that Emma is not getting enough warning or something similar.  Spinal cord issues causing the signal to not get to the brain properly?  I don't want you to think that Em [...]

Really want to run home today, because it's such a nice way to fit in a workout and it's a pretty easy/fun route.  BUT... it's going to be in the 90s. I am pretty much over my need to heat acclimate this season!   I guess the worst that happens is I have to walk a bit, but at least it's finished.  Also the route is pretty shady. I did bring my stuff and it would be leaving my car in the garage at work until I can come back for it.

High school practice cancelled last night due to rain. Always a bummer when that happens with an evening ride, because I'm never all that motivated to do anything else at 6 pm. Went and watched Aspen's volleyball practice instead, since I missed the first one on Tuesday. So cute to see all the girls learning how to play.
Headed out for a decent ride this morning, since I feel like I've been totally lazy this week. Now I'm going to hit the shower, and try to start a painting before I pick up the kiddos. Heading downtown for Dave's show tonight.
Evidence that my feisty new bike is FAST:

My chest is covered in gnat bites. I will try to take a photo. It looks... diseased. They go all the way across my chest and onto my R shoulder.

I am very crabby today. VERY VERY crabby. Like wow. Crabby. I should probably go home before I punch someone in the eye or curl up into the fetal position and start wailing. Hormones. I'm ridin' them. Look out.

Short run today, maybe some PiYo if there's time.
I collapsed on the couch last night and it swallowed me whole.  Had to force myself up to fold laundry--but that was worth it cause I found about $30 in the dryer.  John doesn't empty his pockets well and finders are keepers when it comes to money in the laundry.

Looks like right knee issue is really outer right calf strain. Combination of new shoes and orthotics, I think.

Made it to Friday! So on Monday I wrote about being depressed and whatnot. Came home, wanting a bit of a pity party for myself, and learn that my husband lost his job. The writing's been on the wall for him and the rest of the team, so this isn't unexpected, and he was already looking for a new job. Hopefully he'll find something better than what's behind, right?
My regret is that I didn't handle the news particularly well. And by not particularly well I mean like an offensive narcissistic jerk. But the world still turns (NOT around me) and here we are at Friday and a holiday weekend. Here's to carrying on and playing the hand you're dealt.

Wind forecast is looking dreadful for the entire weekend - specific information isn't yet available for Sunday, but tomorrow is 15-25 mph sustained south winds, plus gusty. Thinking of running tomorrow, then taking my chances that the winds won't be worse on Sunday for my 95 mile ride.
Hilariously, last week on the Facebook IMLOU page, a bunch of folks rode the course and complained to the high heavens about the awful winds. Someone finally asked "what were the wind speeds?" and they were LESS THAN 10 MPH. Someone even posted a weather screen shot showing they were like 3-4 mph but they maintained how "brutal" and "soul sucking" the winds were. People are funny. Or maybe it's just crazy windy in Kansas.
TONIGHT I SWIM!
Got my bookings done for San Antonio in December (I'm always paranoid prices will skyrocket) - decided to stay a few extra days to explore the Riverwalk and what not. There is a Spurs game Saturday night that I will probably get a ticket for. Attending an NBA gam[...]

So, we've been cat sitting my sister's cat at our house since we got back from vacation. Let's just say it's been interesting. Dominance games between her and my cat - where she sleeps in his spot on my bed, on me.  And then there's the dog in the mix.
Funny animals.

The start to the school year this year has really taken a toll on me.  I am happy to report that after 3 weeks without air conditioning in my classroom, it was repaired this morning!  I just have not had the oomph to get at any training, other than my Sunday bike rides with my bike buddy, Hope.  And I probably wouldn't do those if she wasn't expecting me!  Had a real off day this week, my tummy just ached, and I would have called in sick if it wasn't such a hassle explaining where I was teaching in all different parts of the building, so I toughed it out and 24 hours later I was fine.  And I ran 2 miles on Monday and was sore for 2 days?  I suck...

I've had it with job paperwork that's not mine. If he can't figure it out then maybe that's a sign. Admittedly, the log on problem was due to the gov't misspelling his birth town, but still I was the one who had to figure out who to call and what to say to fix it. The security job he was offered apparently has some gov't contracts so he has to obtain a security clearance. We're still paying on 2014 taxes. Oops. If he still had the railroad job (oh, or maybe ANY job) they would've been paid on time no problem. Considering that it's just 2k and we have an installment agreement in force we're paying on every month maybe it'll be ok. I'm just super irritated. The Boeing interview yesterday went really well he thinks. He had applied for three different positions, but he interviewed for the entry-level one which at least means their expectations should be in line. The hourly pay is actually less than the security job, but steadier hours (for as long as it lasts). He thinks it might be too [...]
