2 hour delay this morning, but honestly, the government should have been closed again.  It took over an hour to get to work on a solid sheet of ice.  Though.. probably a good thing that everything didn't shut down because I have a 5pm flight up to New Hampshire!!  No running or biking this weekend, but should get in a fair amount of skiing... and hopefully I will return to more spring-like weather (supposed to be near 60 degrees next week -- here's hoping!).

I did the Polar Orthostatic Test and Fitness Test.  I got about the same numbers as previous tests.  HR Peak 67, HR Stand 61, HR Rest 52.  The Fitness Test gave 27 as the estimate of VO2 Max.   No change on that number.
The Polar watch has settled into telling me I am at a "Balanced" training state.  I guess I feel the same.  My typical one hour cardio exercise gives 4 to 10 hours or estimated recovery.  I think that is pretty accurate too.
I am entertained rather than annoyed by the warnings that I have been sitting too long.  I get up and wave my sissy weights around or do some jumping jacks to humor the watch.
I entered my weight data since February into an Excel spreadsheet that a friend set up for us years ago.  It took a long time and I went through the mods necessary to get it to calculate a slope.  (I got -1.24 lb/week)  Then when I tried to save the sheet, I got an error message from Excel about a problem. &[...]

Well my vehicle won't be ready until sometime next week now - even though the mechanic is getting the parts in today. The insurance people have to physically inspect it because of the amount of damage, which I understand. The good/better news is that my deductible is actually ZERO because I also had some sort of safe driving reward. That's nice!
And in other news, I set up my Tour de Cure fundraising page today! Last year was so different because my employer was the Premier Sponsor and I was so involved getting our 10,000 employees engaged. This year I'm riding as an individual rider - but still with the same goals to raise money to help find a cure.
Check out my page here if you're interested in finding out more.

So far feeling good about week 1.  Body was sore at the start of the week but pulling through.  I'll have missed a 20 minute swim and I'm short 22 minutes on the bike.  I have one more run to do which I'll do up north at the chalet.  Eating is good.  Goal was 1500 calories per day but I always go over with nibbles here and there.  Averaged 1670 cal/day and burned an average of 2400 cal/day.  Scale shows I'm down 4 pounds and I believe some of it may be genuine loss.  I'm feeling leaner already.  Like how my jeans are no longer snug.  Now I just have to be good over the weekend.  It's easy to eat heartily when you are outdoors in the fresh air all day.

Went to a bike maintenance clinic last night - almost skipped since this week was wheels/tires, but I went anyhow and I'm glad I did. I know how to change a tire so that part was meh, but the rest of the time he spent showing us how to set up tubeless tires, get the tire seated, add sealant, etc. Since Nate's new bike is set up tubeless, and my new bike will be, it was good because I had no idea how that all worked. Next two weeks are derailleurs and brakes - looking forward to it.
Speaking of my new bike, pushed back to the end of the month. I'm starting to feel like it's NEVER going to get here. Right now it's snowy and I don't care, but by the end of the month I'm really going to want it.
Down 2 lbs today - phew. Still higher than I like to be, but at least it's not as bad as it looked yesterday!
Supposed to warm up a lot starting today. I'm going to go ride my fatbike this morning while the snow is still there - I have a hunch the trails will turn to mud quickly, and I'll b[...]

I had no intention of getting on the treadmill this morning, but when I walked into my office, I saw some National Geographic travel books and decided I may as well get a little exercise while I read them. They have some really great adventure/hiking trips I'd love to do. They cost some serious amounts of money though. It was fun dreaming. :) My little laptop table worked well, but I wouldn't mind something larger (like Robin has) and I need to improve the lighting so I have an easier time reading.

Nice 2.5 today. I was a bit concerned between the ride and the glute challenges, but I think that I am moving in the right direction. Nothing too uptempo, but getting out and getting it done. Last night was a bit of guitar practice while TW and DD2 caught up with their shared guilty pleasure, Survivor. I admit, my worthless watching has been the Bachelor. That stuff is just too much!  I am convinced there is a town outside of LA where bat crap crazy people all live. The bus pulls in every morning and takes them to their reality show. Seriously though, what makes a person think "This is the answer, I'll work out my issues on national television"?!?! Wow. And to end on a better note:

Work, work, work.
4 mile run on the agenda and the roads are ice packed.  Joyous.  Tomorrow's 11 miles may be split into amounts I can tolerate on the treadmill at this point.
