Bike commuted to the office today since I didn't have any inspections. Sucky thing was I still had to go home and get my car so I could drive around for an hour and a half taking comp photos!

I was on a mission after work last night. Stopped by the vet and paid off the $1880 left on Aspen's $4400 vet bill using my check from my spring online class (which took most all of it). Stopped by the gym-ette in town to get a group class schedule and bought a punch card for 10 classes ($3/class isn't too bad). There really are only two strength classes per week, but at least they are Tues/Thurs mornings. Got some more sheetrock mud (my half-full bucket had some funky mold growth). Then I ran with the pups even. Feeling more motivated this week for sure.
Looked through my BT logs today some trying to remember how much I weighed for various strong races. I was surprised that it's more than I would've thought. Although I did get down to 124 at one point about a year after starting to run, my strongest races were in the high 130s to low 140s. Kind of a little sad too looking back at how dedicated(?)/awesome(?) I was compared to now. Yeah, yeah "Comparison is the thief of joy" and all[...]

5:30 pm - Oh my gosh, I feel like an entirely different person after finally getting out for a good long ride in the sunshine!! It was 70 degrees and beautiful down in Denver. Amazing how much better my mood is after I get in a good effort outside.
8 am - I'm not entirely sure where my motivation has gone, but I've been lazy the past few days for no real reason at all. I suppose I'm stressed and it's sapping my energy, but I should know better - I *always* feel better after a good workout!
Riding with Galen from his place in Lakewood at 11. Happy to meet up with him and get a plan going for getting back in shape. A little nervous that he's going to kick my . We'll see ;)
Nate is all peeved about Aspen's school. She came home with math homework that was stuff she was doing in 1st grade, and apparently they just tell her to help the other kids when she's done with her work at school. Looking more and more like we will be school poor for the next 4-8 years as we lean more an[...]

Okay, after a long day yesterday, at least I'm able to walk into the office today without my phone immediately ringing off the hook. Hopefully this foretells a less chaotic day?

Hopefully my trainee will remember how to use her phone properly so she doesn't get dropped after every call.  She's in VA Beach so there's no office commuting at least.

So stopped by LBS last night and ordered a Diverge. I'll be trading in road bike and cross bike on it. Asked about the wheels that are on the bike I rode because I have a suspicion they contributed immensely to the positive experience. Ugh, pretty high dollar. Went home and thought about it, then went ahead and pulled the trigger on the wheels. Knowing myself, I'll eventually spend the money and it's just easier to take care of it from the get-go.

Steve and I are getting ready for our gravel ride on Saturday. It's a race for everyone else, we are just going to take in the scenery and enjoy riding some parts of Missouri that are normally off limits. We are going to use our mountain bikes, which are 29ers and roll well on the road. There is some singletrack but sounds like much of it is unridable for whatever reason. Oh, and a jaunt through a cow pasture. I'll be sure to take a lot of pics of this one.

So i am mad at myself over my swim. I am telling myself i should be better than I am (which i should) but I know i need to do more work to get there. I just fell into some bad traps during the test itself - near the end of the 400 i choked on a bit of water. I lost some power in my pull. Sigh. I think i also dislike seeing everyone else improve while I seem to stay the same.
First i started with telling myself more positive things. I hate the negative self-talk. This is a hobby and it doesn't matter if I am 'good' or 'fast' or whatever. I am persistent! I am an ironman, dammit! Anyway, I'll get over it.
Thinking about how maybe I should join the Y near my work for a few months and supplement my swimming with time on my own. Even a couple of extra 30-minute swims a week would help. I hate the logistics of doing it during the workday but that is available time to me.

Going to spend most of the day outside. Low 60s and sunshine - perfect working weather. Low wind today, so I may get a fire going and get some dead stuff burned up. Hauling wood wears me out quickly, so I'll have to pace myself. In the area where I cut a new trail, I discovered lots of huge spooky looking grapevines. Will try to get those cut today as well.
