Chilly. About 40 degrees when we started the ride... I wore my magic jacket and by the end I was 100% saturated in sweat. It was like one of those sauna suits. It's not SUPPOSED to breathe because it's supposed to block out the wind... but... ZOMG. I got hot. Very hot.

Got home, took a shower and packed up some more eBay stuff. This is what $206.00 in sales looks like...

Couple of pairs of sunglasses... Chris' jeans... couple of shirts and a wrap dress. Bye bye! Off to your new homes!

I'm not gonna lie, yesterday's bike ride bothered my shoulder a bit.  When I was showering after the ride, the muscles around my left shoulder blade spasmed and it's been quite talkative today.  I thought that the PT exercises would further irritate it but they didn't bother my shoulder at all.  I'll talk to Jeff next time I see him. It's like I need a different set of exercises.  And here I thought the end of PT was near.  Maybe I really am a lifer!

TRX and PT

- Lat pull down with resistance band on balance ball (2 x 12)
- short stair seated balloon (paravertebral inhibition) and all four right arm reach (pelvis restoration repositioning), 5 sets each

Stats taken after ride and before dinner, %water 68.3, muscle 37.9, bone 3.9. Yeah, I realize I haven't been writing much since I went to Boston. I really need to backlog about that too as it was an awesome experience overall though not without issues. I switched my long run and ride this weekend as the weather was just looking better today for the ride. And I'm so glad I did as it was sunny today with temps in the low 60s plus a bit of wind. Due to the latter, I had to wear light arm sleeves and I decided to wear the 2XU compression top for a bit of added warmth. This worked out well as the wind going out did chill me a bit. Testing the tri bike with a higher stem today to see if my neck can get some relief. Seemed to but still complained over time. One thing I did note is that I seem to be able to stay powered in aero going up lighter rollers. Now had a headwind going out and chalked it up to free resistance. So I went a little longer going out because I knew I could fly c[...]

that was a long, painful run.  Experimented with a 28:2 ratio.  Was able to maintain that through 2:30.  After that I also walked the hills.  I think that i am not ready for that yet.  Will probably keep that going for portions of the long runs going forward until I can maintain that without so much degradation.

Where did my motivation go?  My bike buddy is competing a 70.3 today, so I am not feeling a solo ride... still working on my project (my first T-shirt quilt as a retirement gift for someone at school), so once I get started on that and doing laundry, anything outside is not gonna happen!  Chance of rain later on anyways... I will get back at it tomorrow for sure.

So glad I got a ride in yesterday, even if it was short and easy. It's pouring rain/sleeting, and we're supposed to get a couple of inches of rain by tomorrow evening. Blech.
Happy for my friends who raced yesterday - one took 1st in her age group. one took 2nd, and the other DNF'd but because she stopped to help someone who was injured. Looking at the results, there were only 4 in my division, and I think I could have been close to 2nd. Bummed I didn't get to get out there and try! :( Oh well, there's another in two weeks. Hopefully I can be all prepared for that one!

Week Goals
Recovery week! Low hours, but we've got a couple hard efforts-another swim time trial and a 10k race on Sunday--try to find one or something similar. If not, do your best effort on a measured course or at the track.

Well, that was a challenging day. I don't have my times yet, but I won my age group for the mini. Not sure about the sprint. We had rain, cold weather and high winds, ugh. Will post more when I have times.

'Pull' Drill - Focus will be on learning to 'catch' the water with your forearm and pull yourself through the water. If you feel your lats (the muscles under your arm pits that go down the side of your back) engage, then you are starting to get it. If your shoulders are tired, then you are still using too much shoulder and not enough lats.

Full stretch and myofascial release.
