HAPPY INDEPENDENCE DAY!!

To all who have served and those who continue to serve, I thank you. This day would have no meaning without your sacrifices.

I still need to do 4 minutes worth of planking and 4 minutes of wall squats for the Freedom workout.  And I copied a workout from Team Giddyup that I want to do that includes some sprints.  Team Giddyup workout will wait until Monday.  I am done.

I love the quiet of the early mornings, before the kids wake up and get outside and start playing and the lawn mowers power up -- I live in kind of a typical packed-in suburbia and while there are lots of things I love about it, peace and quiet doesn't really come with the territory.  I mean, within my block there have got to be at least two dozen kids between the ages of walking-and-talking and sullen-teenager. If I had my druthers (no idea what druthers are, but I for sure don't have them), I'd like somewhere that was a little more secluded.  Still have neighbors and all, but just not so close.
Yesterday was fun -- my roommate is house-sitting for one of her rich clients and so she had a bunch of friends over to lounge by the pool and cookout at their outdoor cooking center (yes, VERY nice house). I drank more than I have in a very, very long time. And can I say? I love day drinking. :) I got there mid-afternoon and left around 7pm.... took Belle out, fed her, played wi[...]

I feel like Yanti talking about this story...
Came home from walking to packet pickup.  I went to flop on the couch and didn't realize my knitting bag was there.  Every other time I've done this, it's been fine.  Worst case the needle breaks. Not this time...  Somehow the needle went through the bag, through my pants, and about an inch into the top of my butt.  I feel like a complete moron, but it seems relatively ok.  The needles were wood and nothing broke off.  I had a tetanus shot 3 1/2 years ago, so I don't think I need to worry.  Mostly I feel dumb!

I have found that communication is often a sticking point in the business world, with nearly everyone in nearly every company doing far less of it than they should.  And it ends up affecting others, who think they were left out or not "looped in".  Yet in reality, there is no obfuscation, just a lack of a clue.  Often times we are unaware of who needs what, so we undercommunicate.  Then there are the frustrating few, the ones with a clue, yet no desire to share information with others in an attempt to keep them in the dark and maintain some sort of "edge" over their co-workers.  The result of both of these actions is the same.  A lack of production.  For all the strides we have made using the variety of tools available to us, we remain inefficient and stagnant, fearful of change, and unwilling to share.  It is sad to see, yet gives all of us an opportunity to make our selves rise above.  Today I strive to not be "that guy".  I will do[...]
