A good nights sleep.
Planning all the things to do on a long weekend.
Having coffee delivered to me at  my desk by a handsome man!
I am sad today. I just cannot get over the thousands of people fleeing their homes for the unknown. I NEVER EVER what to feel that desperation and hopelessness that would force a person to load their family into a boat and leave everything forever. And then to die. I detest, even hate, the people who dismiss this horror for what ever selfish, bigoted reason. I know things like this happen the world over, every day and that saddens me, too. We are so damn lucky in so damn many ways and I vow to do my damnedest to not forget that, EVER.
So to add to my list:
I live in peace, without fear, in a place that I love, with people I love, to do the things I love. There is no greater richness.
Signing out for the day. Gonna ride my mountain bike after work. :)

Jeez, talk about crabby, had to work lunch by myself today. There is supposed to be 2 people, a supervisor for the children and someone at the computer. Usually the principal is there with me but she had something today and was short staffed I guess. So, I had the pleasure of managing 175 k-3rd graders by myself. WTF? How am I supposed to scan all their lunch cards, monitor the salad dressing going around the tables, open all the freaking packages of crap that these kids can't seem to open by themselves, wash the tables, listen to them tattle on one another and line them all up on time by myself?! K comes in at 11:00, they have until 11:20 to eat but they are all in la la land because they are Kindergarteners. Someone was supposed to be coming down the hall to meet them to take them to recess at 11:20 but it is 11:25 and no one is coming, here comes 2nd grade and in the mean time 1st grade needs to finish up and get out but they are misbehaving terribly making far[...]

Another day, another 67 cents after taxes, or something like that.  Today is a normal one, with the final day with coach Amy in the pool.  And my run this morning is done, so how bad can it be?  I have two development efforts on schedule to be delivered today.  And a couple more in the hopper.  It's all good, made better by a day off tomorrow.  A few things on tap, work at mom's, meet friends for lunch, yada, yada, yada.  I think I'll enjoy the crap out of my 4 day weekend!
You have to like the optimism:

Back from Ward - we had a great time. Carol's cabin is right in the middle of the (tiny) town, and we all just walked up and down the street to find stuff to paint. Ward is a funky old hippy town (Carol is TOTALLY an old hippie, her stories from the 60's are hysterical), so I challenged myself to paint the cute buildings rather than falling back on my usual pure landscapes. It was good for me to mix it up a bit, I think, and got me excited about painting again after a few weeks of struggling in the studio. Did six paintings, and 4-5 of them are frame-able, so it was also somewhat productive. Kind of nice to go with the girls. I normally paint with a bunch of guys, and I love them but damn they're so intense and competitive sometimes! It was nice to just chill with some girls who were happy to have a glass of wine and good food and paint. EXACTLY what I needed! Also, no cell service for two days so I was totally, blissfully out of touch, which is pretty rare nowadays.

Pretty excited to get started on the new plan (still under construction!) I have my body goals in place and am working on strength goals. Fred's brother has been staying with the MIL and I'm taking over for him today, so I'll work on getting my goals finished up while I'm there.

Was going to see "A Walk in the Woods" today, but with the MIL issue, it may have to wait until tomorrow. I'm really enjoying reading the book again. So funny!

45" plank
50 crunches
10 ball transfer
10 leg lifts
15 bicycle crunch

Tired. One thing common to depression is that the mental part brings on the physical part. My struggle with my brain takes a toll on my body. Plus I am old and cannot recover as well. At lease I get out of bed. Barely!

Taking daughter to her first soccer practice. Hope she likes it. They were supposed to be friends together but we don’t know if she knows anyone on the team. Oh well she is pretty good at making friends.

Taking son to rugby match on Saturday whether he likes it or not. Got the tickets on Groupon. Should be in the nosebleeds. Hope we make it to halftime.

Today is my Friday! My company gives us both Friday and Monday off for the Labor Day weekend. :-) 4 day weekend!!!

My muscles are still very tight and sore. This started last Friday. It is a side effect of the medication I was on for 10 days. I took the last dose on Sunday, but I have been doing some reading about this and the side effects can last several weeks after taking the last dose. I am going easy with my workouts to avoid straining or tearing anything. My lungs are doing much better. :-)

Not a great run today. Not a great evening talk with the boy last night. The girl needed some company after the boy chat. Up way too late, worrying and hot flashing. UGH! Knew I had to get up early anyway with the temps and humidity. Just not my best day out there. It is the longest run of my training plan, and because I'm a dork even longer than I should have run. :-/

It is done and I had a cold bath with epsom salt in the foo foo bubble tub when I got home. Chickened out on the ice. Just.could.not.do.it. Lost over 6lbs of fluid (weighed the same, but sweat out all my gatorade, plus water, plus recovery drink on ride home!) GROSS!!!

Dinner at Mimi's tonight. YUM!!!

I sure hope the boy is feeling better today, but I doubt it.

We are going out of town this weekend (jeez, two weekends in a row) for a quick Missouri getaway -- some mountain biking in St. James, then trout fishing at Bennett Springs. I really love that area and the thought of wading in an ice cold stream out in the woods sound really pleasant. Steve invited his dad along, never thinking he would want to go, and the offer was accepted. Steve's dad has health issues and is not very mobile, so we will have to be creative about how to keep him entertained. Truth be told, he will probably just be happy to not be sitting into his condo watching tv all day.

BeeBee (my older kitty) seems to really be doing well on the pre$cription food for diabetes management. In true diabetic form, she dropped a couple of pounds very quickly this month, which was probably a good thing for her since she's very overweight. Now she's jumping up on the bed, the couch, like a kitten again. Still drinking a ton of water and peeing all the time though. I really d[...]

I got home yesterday and couldn't warm up for the life of me, which is one of the reasons why I got on the drainer - because I thought I would get the body moving & warm up a bit... and it worked!  Until it didn't  And after showering I was on the couch under a fleece blanket, with long pj's on and drinking hot tea.  I stood outside for a bit (you'd think 90F temps would help) and got back into the shower under HOT water.  Nope, still freezing.
Oh, and lookie, now my throat is sore and I feel like .
Thankfully today is supposed to be a rest day so I'm going to take it and just do NOTHING when I get home.  Sadly, with Tony gone to CO for the weekend, it means that I won't have anyone to cook for me which means I could either attempt to make something and risk burning the house down and/or having something explode in the kitchen (yes, this has happened before), or I have popcorn & wine for dinner.  I'm pretty sure I know which is [...]
