Ugh, back is worse not better. Seems to be muscular, as it feels like it will "give out" when I make certain moves. Overall though, moving seems to help it. Might try riding a stationary bike tomorrow.

Home, wiped out tired! Glad to be home.
Random thoughts, there are now 2 students in DS's class on ADHD meds. I know of one Kindergartener in our district and another little boy in an upper grade plus 2 children in our neighborhood with undiagnosed and not medicated ADHD. I'm sure there are more, these are just a few examples from families I know. I find this a bit disturbing considering this is a small town with a small school. How many kids are going to the nurse to be medicated to get through their school day?

And I am feeling the holiday stress and frustration start to creep up on me. I really need to just get a better attitude. I dislike so much about how the Holidays are celebrated and I just feel so stuck to follow all these family traditions that I don't really enjoy. It suffocates me and I have a hard time finding the joy. I like visiting with friends and family. I don't need to stuff myself and do dishes for 5 hours in order to make it happen.

Need to ride my bike sometime today, but I'm guessing the trails up here are muddy? Might head down the hill and ride my road bike??
Getting back on the wagon with clean eating. I've been eating all sorts of crap the past month or so (birthday cake, bread, dessert, crackers, blah), and my body isn't completely happy. Knees and feet are achy, which for me is a #1 sign of inflammation - I haven't been running enough to actually expect aches and pains. So, cleaning it up - back to veggies and meat and good fats. Made a huge pot of chili and soup to freeze yesterday, cooking turkey breast and veggies in the crockpot today. Will log food for a bit to keep on track.
FOOD:
B - sauteed onions/peppers, sausages, coffee x2
S - pistachios, pickles
L - omelet with veggies and turkey, berries w/a bit of whipped cream, broccoli, pc of chicken (brunch out)
S - squeezy applesauce (during ride), 2 slices of swiss and a banana plus coffee (after awful ride)
D - turkey, veggies, roasted potato[...]

Mom's doing much better.  There was a thought that she might come home today, but it's looking like tomorrow assuming nothing goes haywire between now and then.  They wanted her to be fever-free for 24 hours and she's done that.  And the bacteria in her blood is "a wimpy bacteria" (direct quote from the infectious disease doctor) that can be treated with any sort of antibiotic, which means that she doesn't need intravenous antibiotics.
I'll be happy for her to come home -- not only for her own sanity, but for my own selfishness; it's hard on my schedule to spend several hours a day at the hospital not getting stuff done.

Another day trip to Western Mass. Packed up some dishes and other items from a hutch in the dining room that needed to be moved in order to make room for my Dad to come home on Friday. He is still in a wheelchair and it will not fit through his bedroom doorway. The house is really small and there is no way to widen the door. So we will move a bed into the dining room until he is cleared to use a walker again. Hubby came with me and did the driving which was great. I did some board studying so win-win. We took Dad to lunch which gave my bros a break. I won't be able to go up again until the Wed after Thanksgiving. Lots of phone calls to make helping to arrange things though. It will be 3 months on Wed since he fell. Long time for a broken arm.

So today is the first day of the rest of my life.  I've been pretty much on a work-out break since my last IM, and need to get back into a fitness routine.  But I've sure been enjoying the down time!  It has been nice to sleep later and go straight home from work. Pete and I spent Halloween in Colonial Williamsburg and Historic Jamestown.  Then we entered his Golden Retriever, Coley, in a dog show in Winston-Salem and he won not one, but two blue ribbons!  We also got to enjoy walking around Old Salem while there.
Now we are moving into the holiday season with much to be thankful for.  Things are better than ever at my office, my son is a VERY successful young man and will be home for Thanksgiving, and Pete and I have reached a point where our relationship is stronger than ever (thanks to a needed push).
Now I just need to get my fitness mojo back so I can at least enter some run races.  I also intend to sign up for some recreational clas[...]

Long run, hard finish.

End of week 2 of marathon training. Almost 34 miles and the legs feel great, although achilles' are kind of tight. I'm going to roll my lower legs really well here shortly.

Crap...3.97 hours of running. Goal is 4.
