Be badass every day

Things are slowly starting to come together here. I feel a shift in mindframe and I know the better I eat and train, the better my body will feel (and look!) I opted to do yoga this morning instead of strength training. Felt like my body needed to stretch out a little. 20 minutes felt like an hour. It was hard! Plan to get a dedicated core session in later as well.Forgot to mention that Saturday night at the silent auction, I was hovering around the fitness membership/personal trainer at my friend's gym. At the last second, I put the winning bid in, but a girl came by and was clearly upset that she couldn't get another bid in. I had a feeling that the membership would make a big difference in her life, so I convinced the officials to allow one more bid. I'm going to succeed regardless of if I have the membership or not, but she might not. (Plus, I was a little scared. lol!)Fall has arrived and that means pumpkin is back in my life! I put pumpkin in my oatmeal yesterday and made some pu[...]

Well, the eating didn't go super, but I didn't make HORRIBLE choices. I only took 2 cookies instead of the whole container my friend brought for me. I ate a healthier soup instead of fries with lunch. I didn't earn nutrition points, but it could have been worse.

As far as the swim. Well, I was getting bored of not kicking and it sucked that the first 1000 meters were fins-on work. So I put my fins on and got to work, but then later in the session my foot started to hurt, so I got out early. That'll teach me. :( I need to be patient. I need to be patient. I need to be patient.

In other news, I picked my spring marathon - Rock & Roll DC Marathon in March. They were running a sale through yesterday so I went ahead and registered. Yes. I registered for a marathon while I'm still in a boot. It made perfect sense to me.

A Sticky Run!
Good run this morning, but the humidity remained really high, and with no wind, it felt REALLY muggy!    I did have a very good run this morning though, managing to improve on yesterday's time, and no walking breaks taken.
The run felt strong, and I am happy with it.
Now off to the office.

Food reaction for Grace, sheesh, how can anyone be SOOOO sensitive to food? Honestly I hate to have her even try new things anymore! I found some salami at Wal-Mart that is on the approved food list but stage 2 which means has some spices that could be a problem. Well they are. She was bouncing off the walls last night, could not fall asleep again (went to bed at 8:15 and was still awake at 9:30), woke up this morning SCREAMING that she did not want to get up over and over then sat on the floor in her room bawling saying nobody likes her, I only have fun with Gabe etc etc. Just from 3 pieces of salami. HA. At least we know why and how to help her feel better quickly now. And this is one big reason why she is not in public school this year while we figure all of this out. I can't imagine trying to get her ready for school or the kind of day she would have at school when she is feeling bad like this. Comforting to know we can take it easy today, no worries.

Not yet!
However, I did sleep a lot better last night than I have since last Thursday.  And the Eagles beat the Colts last night (so I read in the newspaper this morning...definitely didn't make it until even halftime), so life is good.

I sleep REALLY well during rain, so no surprise that I slept in this morning and skipped my run. Thinking about running in Washington Park after work if weather cooperates.

Bike fit seemed to go very well. I've heard nothing but good about the Edwardsville bike shop and was not disappointed. I had a professional fit on this bike about three years ago, so for the most part I should have been in good shape. The fitter made a few small tweaks to my position, noting that I was stretched out a little too much. He adjusted the aero pads, tilting one of them up and in, and then brought the bars back about a quarter inch to get my arms more vertically oriented between shoulder and elbow. He then lowered the saddle about half an inch, which flattened out my back and smoothed out my pedaling stroke.

He took some measurements of the bike and now will do some research on tri bikes that have similar geometry and give me a call either late this week or next week to discuss some option[...]

"We lose ourselves in the things we love. We find ourselves there, too."
No run today, which is A-OK. A little yardwork last night and maybe more tonight. Appointment made for a massage in a couple weeks, after the Friday night race. Tomorrow's run may happen in the park, through the woods. I have begun the search for a tri bike. Spoke with Gary at RBE and the Q Roo had been sold this weekend. So he is keeping his eyes open for me. And I'll begin by digging out my fit numbers from a couple years ago and see if I can get some ideas on sizes and brands from there. Probably hit the Competitive Cyclist fit calculator as well, just for drill.
Yesterday I found a Strava segment that a friend had rode that is asking for me to grab it, so tomorrow I will break out the bike for the first time in a couple of weeks.
