My parents will be here tomorrow evening and will be here until Tuesday morning! I am so excited!!! I am taking a vacation day on Friday. They left Cincinnati a few weeks ago and have been driving across the USA. They did this a few years ago and stopped at places like Bryce Canyon, Mt Zion, Los Vegas, etc. on the way here and then Grand Cannon, Sonoma, Nashville, etc. on the way home. They are taking a different route this time and have stopped at Mt. Rushmore, Badlands, Custard's Last Stand, Yellowstone, Redwood trees, San Fransisco and are now driving down the coast to San Diego. My dad likes to drive and they are having a great time. They stop and stay in hotels along the way. It is amazing that my mom is healthy enough to do another trip like this!!! We are so fortunate. I wish I had a larger place. Mike and I don't have a room for guests. :-( My parents are staying at the hotel that is just around the corner, but I wish they didn't have to spend more money on a hotel. [...]

Kitchen countertops were done today and it looks so amazing. I am mesmerized by this resurfacing process. Since they were only in the house for a few hours, I picked Bentley up from daycare at noon and only had to pay for 1/2 day. The fumes are bad, but I opened all the windows and turned on all the fans. Entire bathroom and kitchen back splash (all of the white surfaces) are being done tomorrow.
I also can't say enough how much I love my home security system (YES SHAMELESS PLUG! If you live in a Cox Communications market and want this awesome system let me know, I get a kickback for referrals!). Instead of having to be home to let the workers in, I had them call me when they arrived and I remotely unlocked the doors while I was in a meeting at work! I was also able to see when they were opening each door (not that it really mattered, but just more interesting than anything) and they called when they left and confirmed they had successfully locked the door from the outside. So[...]

School ends with a half day tomorrow and then my schedule gets difficult, so I'm hoping to sneak out for a good 2+ hour ride today.
Super excited to set a PR on my mountain bike ride last night. I ride that trail all the freaking time, so I rarely get a surprise PR on it. I'm feeling pretty decent about my riding right now, considering I'm coming off of an injury! I hate to admit it, but having Galen force me to ride the road bike has been good for my base fitness - less interval-like than riding a mountain bike 100% of the time.
Packed up my stuff and painted outside this morning. So nice - it's been a while, and I have been dragging about getting into the studio. I'm kind of tempted to go out every day that I have the sitter this summer, or close to it.

Why I didn't have time to run this morning:
I hate not being able to trust people to do their jobs. Spent 3 hours yesterday trouble shooting Casey's new phone (his old one had a broken charging port, but we at least were able to sell it to Gazelle for $70). Turns out that the supposed Samsung Experience Expert sold us a Galaxy s6 GSM phone although we very specifically said we needed to be able to use it on the Verizon (Page Plus) network. Seriously irritated to have to drive to Missoula again to get it straightened out, but more irritated that I was up past 11pm and was on the phone after my weights class for no reason. When I called to talk to a manager before I went he claimed that it "should work fine" until I directed him to the Samsung website that specifically said it wouldn't. My expectations really are pretty low, but come on!

7:30am: Okay, so all I know is this: I've been feeling really good lately. Like, mentally and physically. I'm not as tired as I had been. I'm excited about things in my life. I'm still the same out-of-shape that I have been for the past year, but feel like it's all manageable and I'm making progress. I don't know, people ... it must be something in the water. Or maybe in the birth control pills? That's really the only thing that's changed. Seems improbable to me, but whatever the cause, I'm not going to question it into submission.
I should do stairs today, but I ALSO should study. If the weather were going to be cooperative, I'd just move stairs to Thursday, but I'm not sure it's going to be. Of course, I can do stairs in the rain. Hmm. I'll have to make a game-time call on this one. I'd like to get this second exam out of the way tomorrow, but in order to do that, I need to put in some quality time tonight, for sure. The other option is to put the test off until Friday. Or maybe [...]

We're heading to Dayton this morning. Fred's daughter bought him a membership in the Wright Flyer Association which includes a ride in a replica Wright Brothers biwing airplane. Fred is all kinds of excited. Me, I'm the photographer and videographer. Should be fun!

Had to cut workouts short this morning. Flat out ran out of time. I'll do them more justice tonight when I'm not so rushed. Food is packed. I'm ready for a solid day 3!

Chest press on ball 12# dumbbells - 15
Chest press on bench 15# dumbbells - 12
Pullovers - 15# dumbbells - 10

So, I hesitate to jinx anything, but my ankle feels the tiniest bit better today. Perhaps resting was a good idea after all? Who would have thought it. I have today as a rest day, except PT later. I have a date with a wobble board.

Many of you know that when I go to masters in the morning, I often bring breakfast to work with me.  I've been on an overnight oatmeal kick for a while now and I generally make up what I need for the week on Monday night.  This week I made Brownie Batter Overnight Protein Oatmeal.  Good stuff!  Here's a listing of several recipes that I've tried with links: Brownie Batter Overnight Protein Oatmeal (very brownie batter like, loose consistency but so does brownie batter Overnight Cake Batter Protein Oatmeal Carrot Cake Overnight Protein Oatmeal (really outstanding the first few times and then not so good, I think the most recent batch of carrots was more bitter or something) Pumpkin Pie Protein Overnight Oatmeal (not awesome) Banana Bread Overnight Oats (so awesome!) Pumpkin Pie Overnight Flax Oat Surprise Apple Pie Overnight Oatmeal Parfait (this one may be the best, definitely top three!) Cherry-Vanilla Super Yogurt (not oatmeal but really good, especially when [...]

Pro Tip for Racing Injuries
Last June, I had a traumatic brain injury during a race. Thankfully, everything is okay, and I have good insurance. Of a $25,000 hospital stay, insurance covered all but about $2,200. I made a claim through USAT's insurer for the difference. The insurer notified me that it would cover all but $210 of the $2,200. This notification was last September. Yesterday, I finally received a bill from the hospital for the $210. Eight months after being paid by the insurer, and almost a year after the injury.
If you don't have insurance, USAT's will act as primary coverage. If you do have insurance, it will function as secondary insurance. Take the time to make the claim. It can save you a lot of money. It saved me over $2,000.
