Last night's negotiations went down to the final 15 minutes before an agreement was reached. All hands were on deck at 10:45 p.m. waiting to pull the plug on programming in 4 states when we got the all-clear. I had a feeling that might happen! It was so crazy stressful, especially with being new to the industry and new to every step of this. Even I surprised myself with my calm demeanor and how organized I was with both our national office and leading our local teams. 

Still can't believe all of the congratulations and kudos sent directly to me, even from the top guy in my region, saying how complicated all of this is and how impressed he is with how I'm handling it so new in my position (and he copied my VP). I got off the final teleconferences feeling like Veronica Corningstone in Anchorman - I NAILED IT! NAILED IT!

Only a truly mean-spirited person would take pleasure in someone else's pain.  It is sad when people bully others then play the victim.  It is even sadder when spineless people watch this happen and take no action.  I could never tolerate such malicious people in my life.  Is it really so hard to respect other people's feeling?

Headache again. We need to clean the house then we're off to St. Louis for my nephews bday. Not feeling good enough to workout right now. Not really sure how I am going to drive all that way unless this headache goes away!!!
Fun visiting with my BIL's family at the bday party. DH did not go so I had to drive home. Had 2 cups of coffee after dinner to keep me awake since I get sleepy driving in the middle of day, much less at 9:00 in the evening. Now I am wired!!!

Working a lot today. This is my first big retransmission agreement cycle at work (one of these things) and I am leading the efforts for all of our regions' affected markets (in 4 states). So pulling together everyone from public affairs, communications, government relations, marketing, engineering, customer care, social care, business accounts, media accounts, etc. - and going through check-lists to make sure everyone knows what to do if the agreement expires tonight and we will potentially cut programming (they call it "going dark"). Two months ago, this was all Greek to me, but now I am being told I sound like a real expert, reporting out to our national office and leading regional calls. SUCH an interesting topic and learning experience. And only a bit stressful :)

Lost a bit of ground in bike and run due to the race, new Haus sessions, and mini taper. Give or take, I achieved my volume goals with regards to the above monthly totals. The quality has increased. With the quality has come a couple few duds. HIM should be a solid day but the course will be rough so my time may be slowed. I should be good to go though. At 140.6, I am feeling able to get the IM done in the general vicinity. I still feel a bit weak with regards the long swims and bricks. Time will tell about how the bike system and new run sessions have helped.

Sitting at home waiting for it to warm up to at least 50 so I can get the rest of my long tin mileage in. Then, of course, it starts to pour rain. It's looking treadmilly, but just 13 miles left at least.

Disappointed in myself for being 6.2 miles short for the week, but kind of proud too in that I RAN EVERY DAY this week. Haven't done that in months (or longer). It's been insanely slow goin', but my quads tell me they're fairly certain they ran about 20 miles today. Probably not such a bad first week back considering.

Rockfish Loop with Pete. The sun seemed so scorching hot that it baked the fields and gave off a steamy fragrance of flowers and cut hay in the air. It reminded me of my childhood when I spent hours in the 10 acres of fields and woods behind my house picking flowers and blackberries. I had that 70s song stuck in my head the entire ride, "Summer Breeze."
Afterwards, we took a nap on the couch, and then got my fall and Halloween decorations down from the attic.  Yes, I know it is a bit early, but we love Halloween!
