Another easy to moderate ride this morning...on road bikes.

Afterwards, a hard swim with the masters club. Man, I just don't know why swimming is so hard for me. I get in the lane with the really fast guys (coach's orders) and they leave me in the dust. It's just so crazy to me. How can there be that much of a difference? My technique isn't that bad...

Longish swim today looks to be the only workout this week with any kind of challenge. It wasn't that bad - was a bit of a challenge, but by no means hard. Rest of the week is pretty light stuff, undoubtedly the early portion of an active taper. Hard to believe that my A race is in 10ish days.
I decided that I am going to do another race in October. It will be a nice point of comparison from my very first tri last year, as it's the same course.

10:19am: Hump day! Got my 5x5 workout tonight and plan to get out for a walk as well. The 5x5 is getting challenging; the ramp-up period is pretty easy (as it's intended to be), but now I'm starting to inch closer to the day where I won't be able to get through all 5 sets.
I made the simplest, most tasty, most awesome dinner last night:  grilled some fresh chicken breasts with just a little garlic salt and paprika for seasoning. Cut that up and then made chicken wraps with some fresh guac, tomatoes from the garden (oh, c'mon, you know better -- my Mom's garden, not mine) and a sprinkling of chihuahua cheese. Perfect! And I have two lunches from it as well, so I'm excited about 11:30am coming around.
Related to my dinner, I have to give props to the T-Fal indoor grill that was kind of a whim buy for me, but I use all the time and LOVE because it's Laura-proof! I almost always overcook chicken -- it's like my superpower -- but this grill tells you when it's ready. You te[...]

Day 2

Yay! I made it to Day 2. That's always a good thing. Wasn't the best ride. Didn't feel like being out there on the hills. Struggled a bit till I got home and changed over for my run. It was hot out there. Like HOT. I've run on hotter days but, I wasn't interested in sweating this one out like I did. My thoughts were all over the place. I though about how little I wanted to be running at the moment, how maybe I could focus on the 5K distance after this triathlon and get my sub 20:00 at the Turkey Trot this year. Wait minute, I'll be 47 then! Times are going to start going up with age. I can't wait to get this over. My shoulder hurts. I can run just a little bit further to the sewer before I turn back.

Stuck it out despite the negative mental feedback, which in general, isn't a lot to celebrate because when I motivate myself to get out, I usually do what I set out to do. So, maybe just celebrate that I made it out for Day 2.

Reluctantly registered for a 5K coming up in September. The Start 2 Finish groups all have this on our training plans because Fleet Feet sponsors the race. But we are supposed to run 11 miles that day, so I guess they are going to give us some guidance on running before and/or after this race (that doesn't start until 8:30 a.m.). I'm not on board at all with that idea since we will have to tack on 8 extra miles somewhere and inserting a 5K in the middle seems so random. But I am trying to be a team player so forked over $25 this morning. It's for a great cause though (ending human trafficking in my specific community - and I support this organization personally anyway) so I'm good with that part. Plus I just transferred $100 from my random eBay and Ibotta earnings into my checking account so that makes paying for a race I don't want to do sting a little less.
Work thing didn't pan out yesterday. Feeling a ton of pressure. Doing the best I can . Ready for tomorrow to come and g[...]

Last night I was exhausted, so went to bed early....only to toss and turn. Ugh! And then I woke up at 4am, when the alarm wasn't set to go off until 6. Ah well, at least my job doesn't involve heavy machinery or something like that.

Still feeling like road kill.  Slept in some to see if maybe some extra rest helps at all.  Drives me nuts to miss training at this point in an IM training schedule.

Letting my breakfast settle then doing Chisel Cardio. John works through the morning, he might get someone to drop him off here at the hotel...If not I pick him up around 12:30 then we head home.
We did diner in a nearby English pub last night.  It was okay, could not eat all of it though.  Looked like the pub had some regulars for the various sport seasons...
One tough workout!!  I looked like a drowned rat after I finished it!!

Tweaked an ankle in the park yesterday, so this morning I am simply doing stuff around the house.
On this week's episodes of The Young and the Clueless:
Good lawd, they've broken me. I just can't watch another minute of this twit crying because she "loves" this guy who doesn't "love" her. Where I come from, this is called life. Sometimes, it is really cool and you go on cruises or to Bahamian resorts. Other days, it kinda sucks. Like when your daughter's fiance breaks up with her because he is a two timing, cheating man-. Excuse me, I digress.  All of it contributes to the story of your life. The story of your life is yours to write and yours alone. Do yourself a favor you fame-whoring, fake crying, off the rails, backstabbing, self loathing, helpless whiner. Get off of "Reality TV" and figure out who you are and how to make a well adjusted life for yourself. Because this crud they are calling drama is not doing it for you. And it sure ain't doing it for me.  I co[...]

9:09am:  Last night I went to sleep WITHOUT THE TV ON. It was quite lovely! And quite a switch from the last 2 weeks of Olympics watching.
Probably some sort of walk/run-ish thing outside today. Kate will have clients in the basement for the bulk of the afternoon, so no treadmill. And since we're having dinner after she's done, I don't think I have enough time to get to the stairs and back (though we'll see ... perhaps I can sneak a quick trip in ... not that my calves really want me to do that ... still complaining a bit after Saturday).
On the menu tonight? Grilled chicken wraps with guac, fresh tomatoes and mexican cheese. YUM.
