And now I have the song "BE OUR GUEST" running on a continuous loop in my head. Great production and my friend was a FANTASTIC Mrs. Potts last night, but music theater continues to be so incredibly long and dry for me. Even with a Disney production that I'm deeply familiar with, and an intermission, it is just not my cup of tea (see what I did there?). It was great to have dinner with my parents though.
Turns out the big pool party is tomorrow - I was hoping it was Sunday or Monday - and my two best girlfriends are both out of town so they won't be going. Debating. My unicorn tank top came yesterday and is on point, but do I want to go to a party solo to hang out with "just acquaintances?" All of my guy friends are also out of town at a bachelor party, and my parents are going to Florida tomorrow. Might be a quiet weekend after all.

8:09am: Semi-annual review yesterday. They still love me and I get to stay for another 6 months to add to my 21+ years here.
Got home yesterday and after dumping my stuff on the kitchen table, went directly to the couch and napped. Woke up, had some dinner, did a few things and then went to bed. It's an exciting life I lead, I know.
Feeling much more energetic today. Will head out to the stairs after work and then treat myself to a salad from Portillo's for dinner. YUM.
No official plans for the weekend, which suits me just fine. I've got a list of things to accomplish, some of which include finishing the book I'm reading ("The Smartest Guys in the Room" about the Enron scandal), doing some writing and relaxing outside with an adult beverage.

8:50 AM: So Munich has a half day today and is off all weekend until Wednesday. They have another interview set up for the role I interviewed for on Friday 7/8/2016. They may have a decision the following week. Spoke with the HR recruiter today and confirmed I'm still in the running as a competitive candidate. I'm going out of my mind. How long can I stall Allstate? Oh boy.
2:59 PM: Ironically, I just had my mid cycle review and my new boss thinks I'm great. Isn't that a hoot. After everything that happened this past year here. I have run the gauntlet through hell and survived. NOW I get a glowing review.
Really strange dream last night... I've been having a lot of REALLY WEIRD dreams with very vivid imagery. Last night, I had a dream that Chris and I lived in a house (not our usual house) and it had a walk out basement. As he was scooping the litterbox, he scooped too hard and broke through the foundation of the house. It was super flimsy and it lead out directly t[...]

Not nearly as sore as I thought I would be after all the squats yesterday--but I know the quads and abductors have a few things to say to me.  Today is a cardio challenge, I think I should be afraid--very afraid
My trepidation about this workout was not unjustified.  I thought I would die....or maybe that was wishful thinking??
Today is John's last day at Bon Secours.  He turns in his stuff around 1PM then will come home and change, go pick up Miss Thing for the long weekend.  He will be applying for the job with Biotronic, as well as the one through the health care system that is more in physician contracting.  We talked about the positions last night.  Their pros and cons are completely opposite each other.  Personally, I think he'd be happier at Biotronic but isn't sure about the amount of travel involved.

5 new orders so far (bids on 2 others) and July is off to a great start. I was just thinking about how the PAYING part of my vacation to Europe later this month will actually be WAY cheaper than the LOST INCOME part of not working! Bah!

Slow moving this morning - tired. Busy with work this morning. Planning to run this afternoon. Need to go grocery shopping and do laundry. It is amazing how being gone just a few days can really put you behind and get you so off routine. Happy July!

Getting ready for Ghoulie Ann and her family to arrive. They are staying in the house until the 4th. A bunch of folks are coming over on the 3rd to watch the fireworks. We are ground zero. They are launched about 200 yds from our dock. It makes for good viewing, but is hell on the doggie. I have to take her into the kennel early because of it. We are leaving for the Highland Games on the 5th. Camping in the rain. Even when it is a drought everywhere else, it rains there. A LOT. I am hoping to be able to run the Bear. With all my foot injuries and lack of running, excess wt and lack of running up hills, It may be pretty grim.
I will be off the internet until I get back next Monday. Stay safe and have fun, ya'll.
I will leave you with some flowers from my yard.

Day#001

In the musical, "The Music Man" there is a great line: "You pile up enough tomorrows, and you'll find you are left with nothing but a lot of empty yesterdays."

There is no secret that I struggle with depression. Exercising helps. Good nutrition, hydration, and proper sleep certainly helps. Caffeine actually makes it worse unless I am having caffeine for the first time in a long time. Today, trapped in the midst of my latest depression, I gaze back on the pathway I have traveled to get to this point, and I see the piles of empty yesterdays ringing hollowly behind me. It is an awful feeling.

The "what ifs?" are so overwhelming right now. What if I had quit caffeine 5 years ago? What would have happened if I did not stop running after my first marathon in 2012? Perhaps I would be in good shape. Perhaps we would not have had two miscarriages in the last year? Perhaps we would have more happy children, and not our one awesome son who has to deal with daddy's mood swings. [...]

220. Friday, sweet Friday.
I got a nice, albeit short, ride in last night. Close to race distance, mostly close to race pace, except when going safely through intersections and stopping to say hello to TW.  I'm actually quite happy with the result, I have neglected the bike training to the most part, but I haven't lost too much. Probably because I hdidn't have much to begin with!
Janyne noted that the hammock pic from last week was probably not me, so here is one from the other night. Not much beats a venue like this!

J's background check cleared, and he officially starts on July 11th! This has been a long and stressful few months, and I'm so SO looking forward to being a two income household again. They say money can't buy happiness, and while that's true....it can buy rent and food. :)
