If anyone has read my blog in the last five years, you may have noticed me complain about ankle pain and arthritis. Well, I finally saw a specialist and had a series of scans done to determine the problem and best course of action. Unfortunately, yet not surprisingly, my best course of action is two rather complicated surgeries.

The first will be to reposition my left heel bone (seriously, you should see the scan for that one - my heel bone is completely facing the wrong direction!), restructure the front of the ankle joints (random extra bone where there should be space, like a little shelf), and completely fuse the sub-talar joint. I have scheduled that first surgery for Thursday, April 2. I am required to be completely non-weight bearing for two months post surgery. That will be interesting, considering I live in a house with three staircases and have a five year old.

Up before 2 am for the third day in a row. At least this morning, I've been productive in the office, but I didn't get any training done and I am HUNGRY!Heading to the new Ohio State Cancer hospital tonight for a tour. They invited our Pelotonia team to see where the money we raise is going. I don't really want to drive to Columbus, but I'm very interested to see the new state of the art technology and hear from the researchers. 9:03am:  Back at the office. My boss brought in bagels to celebrate my test passing (and also sent out an email to people in the office telling them what a good job I did -- he's the best), which is good timing since I forgot to pack the lunch part of my lunch.  The soup is sitting on the counter, right where I put it after pulling it out of the cabinet.
Hoping to get in a short workout when I get home.  Tomorrow I won't be able to do anything because I'm taking my parents to dinner and then to the taping of Wait Wait Don't Tell Me, the fabulous NPR radio show.

Friday I am heading to an Ortho Doc to get my wrists and shoulder checked out. My wrists have been bothering me for a long time and it is time to get them looked out. It hurts my wrist to push myself up out of a chair and there is no way I could do a push up, so hopefully they can figure that part out. My shoulder on the hand is really worrying me... I fear it may be a rotator cuff injury and that will put a serious hamper on the 2015 season. I have never been more hopeful of a cortisone shot before in my life.

A lunchtime run is on the schedule today.  I'll end up staying at work late but it's good to switch things and run in the daylight every now and then!  I try to mess up my work day once a week at most.  Fortunately, I work in an understanding department.
