It's very helpful that Nissan is disclaiming that 'cars can't snowboard'. Damn. As I was going to sue them for false advertising after I find out that the 'snowboard mode' button didn't work as advertised.

Really?

Productive weekend on the business front (feels weird saying that). New post on dieting, wrote a 4 week workout program that I will be offering for free to newsletter subscribers and facebook fans, set up a facebook fan page, 90% done with newsletter set up. This stuff takes way longer than I would have thought. Oh, and I got some studying in too.
Tested the pomodoro technique while I was working today.  Basically I set a timer to go off every 30 mintues then got my butt off the couch and walked downstairs to do 25 KB swings or farmer walked a set of bells upstairs to my bedroom and back downstairs. Loved it.  Wish I could do that at work.
Deload week starts tomorrow and I get to test out the workouts and shoot some video. Should be fun!

Had a very nice run this morning, and then Steve and I drove to the gym (LA Fitness) to get a workout in. I have such mixed feelings about this gym, it's not really the kind of place where "serious" athletes go, if that makes sense. The vibe is one of vanity, the focus is on looking good. Not that there's anything wrong with looking good, but at the Y there were any number of people training for marathons, triathlons, etc. On the other hand, pool time at the Y was hard to come by unless I went on my lunch hour. At LAF, there are very few people using the pool and not many who actually lap swim. So there's never an issue with getting a lane.

After the workout, we did some shopping for stocking stuffer items. I'm just about done with Christmas stuff - just a few items to wrap and that's it!

Woke up late today so after breakfast I did some housework and we went to the gym.  John worked on the elliptical and some weights while I was in Centergy class.  Good class, very challenged --especially in that balance tract.
I changed to go swim and set my gear at one end of the pool--walked over to get a kick board and some kid came to take my lane.  He and his friend took 2 lanes to fool around.  John came and did some water walking in my lane while I was swimming.  Another guy had to swim in the overflow area cause of those 2 kids.  He was complaining.....I kind of blew the kids off, they looked to be maybe 18 --old enough to learn pool etiquette but not necessarily smart enough to use it.
Thinking about an evening run tonight.....

I didn't sign the kids up for camp or anything during break this year. I might regret that a bit since I really need to get some paintings out there door, but I'm just looking forward to a couple of weeks where we don't need to be somewhere at a certain time. Anyhow, so workouts are going to be harder to fit in for the next few weeks. We'll see how it goes.
Happy that I managed a decent ride today. Looked like snow was coming in from the top of Evergreen Mountain, and it was crazy windy up there. I still love being able to ride in the snow! Took a more technical trail down to the car at the end of my ride today, and it was a bit of an adjustment to ride the rocky sections and drops without suspension. The big tires soak up a lot, but not THAT much...

Cooking this morning -  made doughnuts with icing and sprinkles then the kids voted on homemade peppermint patties for my attempt at making them Christmas candy. The recipe was not hard but I only bought one candy mold which only makes 11 at a time so it took a while! Also had to make DD more spaghetti sauce and ketchup while the candy was setting. In the middle of all of this my stomach did a double take and totally revolted. Don't know if it was something I ate or what?!

And now my heel is sore again just from that crappy walk! GRRRRRRR

Yoga from Grokker: first video I tried was Yoga to enhance performance which was more slow strength via plyometrics. I got bored and distracted too easy with this. The moves were squats, lunges but like you are moving in slow motion. Just not what I was looking for so after 30 min (it was 58 min long) I quit and found something else. Yoga for feet and foundation. Same instructor, same problem. Just get on with it already. Fine, a[...]

5 more days till I see the doc. Hoping for the all clear. Swimming onFriday finally! Have plenty of time after work and before my doc appointment. If nothing else I'm guessing I'll be able to ride my bike. But, I really believe this was a blessing in disguise. My eating is better, appetite is still weird, sleeping like a baby and napping by the fire during the day with my pups. If people only knew. LOL. My girlfriend knows my appetite so she made strawberries stuffed with cheesecake. Used low fat, low cal version and only out half the amount of stuffing in the berries. Said it was the only way she'd get me to eat more fruit. Ha! They are amazing and she is the greatest cook. My instructors have been teaching my karate classes and I even got the itch to do that again. Totally burned out on martial arts and was thinking of selling. Will probably still sell or take on a partner but it was nice to know I still had the desire. Want to keep 51% for my son. So happy I have my classes at work [...]

Stats taken after run and before getting something to eat/drink, %water 68.2, muscle 37.7, bone 3.9. I had thought about going for a longer run today but I stayed up late watching a movie and thus got up late. Still decent sleep though. And needed to do go to the gym first and then grocery shopping. So, as I was losing light on this shortest day of the year, I just decided to stay local and run this 9.2 route I've done before. Bright sunshine but chilly temps and a bit of a breeze today, but it was still a decent run and I got to sub-8s for the last couple of miles. Now just gotta get through Winter ;) Left glute was bothering me but using hip compression made it less of an issue. Thing is, it's getting a bit sore sitting here and I may have to use the hip compression during the day tomorrow so the area can get better. Will monitor

Tomorrow: rest

Tues: forgot I'm moving my telework day to Wed so I can do the Christmas Eve run in the morning. So, this will probably be a [...]
