Unbeknownst to me I have been in quite a negative headspace. I've been going through the motions of training all the while already building in to the program an "out".
A new, but apparently good friend called me yesterday and helped me recognize this.
I had decided that I was going to train the "best that I could" to get to the start line(of Challenge Melbourne) and if it wasn't enough then I was ok with not finishing..just doing the "best that I could".
She helped me see that I was preparing to fail. Rather than saing that I was going to do this event come hell or high water and give it everything I have.
So..out with the old in with the new..attitude.
Stay tuned....

Gorgeous day - happy dance!

So, I think all of my big stressful events for the summer are over. No more travelling for art shows, or painting trips, or teaching workshops for a while. I'm looking forward to getting back into my (NEW!) studio and getting some painting done in the next few weeks, and getting myself back into a regular workout schedule. I'd also like to get up to the mountains a few times in the next few weeks to ride and hang out while the leaves are changing.
I can tell I haven't been being kind to my bod the past few months when things have been too busy. I've been eating too much crap that I know I shouldn't eat (bread, crackers, sugar), drinking too much socially, not sleeping enough, and (since I did my race a few weeks ago) not working out enough. As a result, my tummy has been a mess and my anxiety has been through the roof. I'm pretty much sick of feeling like crap and being stressed out all the time, so I'm going to take advantage of my finally no[...]

Ran from Shell Ridge to Mount Diablo (at least part of the way) with Kevin. On the back I got twisted around and ended up running a couple of new trails. However, I ran without food for about an hour and water for two miles. Better planning.

Didn't even try a FEEBLE attempt at running this week. Did spend quality time with Case though, but really wish I had missed out on the 7 hours of plumbing anti-fun Sunday afternoon. We did eventually get the waste pipe clog taken care of though with minimal clean-up needed and $80 spent ($100 if you include gas to two towns in opposite directions). Considering it took 5 month to get someone to put in our furnace which was a relatively easy, well-paid job, I can't imagine how long I'd have to wait for a plumber and it would be a little tricky with my work schedule and Case gone.

long run. thought it would be a bit faster since it was so cool.  first lap was around 1:10 45 and the second loop around 1:17:30.  probably went out a little hard, but overall not the worst run.

What an absolutely gorgeous day!  Mid 60's, sunny and not a cloud in the sky.  Perfect weather, as far as I'm concerned, and it can stay this way until next Spring.  :)

Awake from 2:30-5:00 a.m. NO WINE OR ALCOHOL LAST NIGHT! It was kind of fun getting a text from Brian at 3 a.m. and being able to have a conversation with him from across the world. He was landing in Tokyo and waiting to take off for Singapore. It was 4 p.m. local time for him and he'd just gotten off of a 15-hour flight. Oy.
Had a nice morning after I finally fell back asleep... really enjoyed my coffee and gluten free cinnamon rolls I'd picked up yesterday at the bakery in my neighborhood (Brenda I WILL be bringing these to Christmas breakfast!! Amazing) - then I colored my hair. Waiting on my hair to dry before heading out for 16 miles. The directions discourage heat styling of any kind and I can't wash it till tomorrow morning - it's fairly stinky (henna) but worth it to be 100% natural, chemical free and horrible junk free.

Spin class, swim & boot camp today.  Fun times to be had.
Spin class was okay, kind of wish I had seen that the weather would be cooperative to ride outside cause I would have preferred it.
Decent swim, worked hard and knew I was working hard.
Boot camp was canceled for instructor training so they filled in the Butts & Guts class.  It was challenging to say the least, but a good work out.  My gym is getting rid of all the Les Mills classes they currently have so all the Group X instructors are learning the new format for whoever they contracted with now.
John has been enjoying his conference...but I think today's events may be a bit challenging for him. Some reps took him to dinner last night and it seems my husband enjoyed the freely flowing wine with dinner a good bit.  I imagine this morning was rather rough.
Came home from the gym and made some soup for this week....butternut squash (the Michael Chiarello recipe is my favorite version) and a[...]

Stats taken after ride and before dinner, %water 70.1, muscle 39.1, bone 4.1 (getting back down to where I should be :) ). Glad I changed my brick to today as it was much better for riding! My friend Mike S who did Black Bear with me threw out an invite to do a 33 mile ride in Frederick Co. Well, as I had a long brick scheduled today, I thought I could ride to and from the start in addition to the ride itself to make it about the distance I wanted, which was 50-some miles. Now this was the first time I've had my tri bike out since IMLO and guess what? More issues - back brake was rubbing. I tried to fix it a few times and kinda did but I'm going to have to take it in tomorrow evening to see about really getting it fixed cuz it was still rubbing here and there. I don't remember it doing so on the IMLO course but the bike guys I took it to there did mess it up initially.

Anyway, only one other person (a friend of Mike's), Heather O, showed up to ride. Mike can go fairly fast[...]
