I was right... seeing IM Chatt in person gave me this incredible jolt of energy towards training - it was pretty awesome, despite the volunteer experience not living up to what I thought it would be. I got there right for my 2:30 p.m. shift, but we were told that we were still "an hour or two" away from anyone finishing (I understand why they ask people to get there early, but two hours was sort of extreme?!). So I went over to T2 and watched people come off the bike and start the run, and immediately got emotional. T2 is a magical place for me, and a place I didn't make it to in my last IM. I cried behind my sunglasses and watched, imagining myself in that place a year from now.
Back at the finish line, I chatted with folks and waited around forever. I met a guy who was wearing an Atlanta Tri Club hat and talked for awhile about the tri club and training in ATL. Then finally, the fast people started coming in. But it was like 10-15 minutes between finishers, and around 20 vo[...]

The Beachbody video playback issue is only on my laptop. I can play them fine from the iPad.  I've logged completely out, shut down the browser to log back in and still no video playback.  Sent an email to customer support today because the two feedback messages I sent have gone nowhere.
I was exchanging texts with one of the people in my group about the current class. We've decided that it's the same rhetoric and busy work....I'm not sure either of us feels as if we are learning new content so much as we are how to use search engines to validate our opinions. Sadly, people know how to find "science" to back their dumb- claims a lot...Every class is the same format...posts, projects & powerpoint. We're almost done with this class, but there are 8 more following.  Hopefully they get better.

GOD! I wish I could log "watching the UCI Men's WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS" as some sort of exercise. Because that's what I did today.
Peter Sagan did an amazing job. As usual. Stealthy, quiet, sitting in the group, the announcers hardly mentioned him once, except to wonder where he was. He stayed buried in the group until he had to outsprint Alexander Kristoff and he did that quite handily.

Well maybe not so handily.

I was out of my mind! Wearing my TOURMINATOR SHIRT for good luck.

10:13am: Another Monday. I took a bucketload of caffeine because I was literally head-bobbing at my desk and now I feel hang-from-the-ceiling anxious. Not sure which is a better state to be in.
Supposed to be a rest day. If I can't work this caffeine out of my system by the time I get home, I might need to do something about it, though.
Discussions have begun for Instant Pot Friday. I'm thinking gyros might be on the menu. And pumpkin steel cut oats for breakfast.

Squat - 275lbs - 5x5 (2x5 - 45lbs, 1x5 - 95 lbs, 1x5 - 135lbs, 1x3 - 185lbs, 1x2 - 225lbs, 1x1 - 255lbs)
Bench - 165lbs - 5x10 (2x5 - 45lbs, 1x5 - 95 lbs, 1x3 - 135lbs)
BB Row - 140lbs - 5x5 (1x5 - 95lbs)
Dips - BW+2.5lbs - 3x5

It amazes me how much workouts can change from day to day. On Saturday, I had a great workout despite my back being hosed up from a crappy squat last week (lost my brace mid-squat last week and muscled it out instead of dropping the rep). Today, I just couldn't loosen up. Got through the workout but wasn't getting as deep as I liked and just didn't feel "strong." Better luck next time.

Shoulder is still problematic for bench. I made an appt with an orthopedic but can't get in until next week. So, rather than give up entirely, I'm working volume instead of weight. Got in 10-rep sets and am hoping that helps develop some strength while I'm figuring it all out. As I type this a few hours later, it's already bugging me. But, that's all part of th[...]

I meant to pack my goggles in case I decided to swim here, but forgot them. Ever since the foot surgery and having the pool, I've been very apprehensive in open water. My feet cramp something fierce in the water and it freaks me out a little. Also, I've found safety in having a side nearby in the pool. Yesterday I actually got mad at myself at how I let my thoughts run away when I jumped in the water. I ordered a pair of goggles through Amazon, which will be delivered Tuesday, and decided to swim to the bouys in our cove. First day, I'll swim to the first one, I'm guessing around a quarter mile, then around the second before we leave. Isn't it funny how much our mind gets in the way of what we can or can't do?

Hiking a couple of waterfalls this morning, then going to Robin's tonight for dock night! How cool is that? I've been hearing about it for years and am really excited that I get to experience it first hand!

I've been reading the book Runner's World Train Smart, Run Forever: How to Become a Fit and Healthy Lifelong Runner by Following The Innovative 7-Hour Workout Week.  I haven't gotten to the actual workout yet, just the background info - most of which I already know, so I definitely think what they recommend will make sense to me. I got the book from the library to see what it included before buying it.
Things I have considered for next year: running break training for a duathlon (more variety, less running) signing up for a 5k/month following the TSRF plan a combination of 2-4.
