Have not been posting in here much, but I am working out. Mainly going to the gym lifting and using the elliptical machine. I have been doing weight since June and I am starting to see some of the work paying off. My shoulders and chest are starting to look more athletic. I had this vision of working out hard and then on my 45th B-day (Sept 7) posting a pic about trying to not grow old and stuff, but I never seem to follow through on pictures. Anyways, I plan on continuing to hit the weights and using the pool, elliptical and bike for awhile (maybe through January) and then start focusing again on racing.

Hill work today-- 2', 4', 6', 4', 2' hill pyramids. I was not up for the 10, 8, 6, 3, 2, 1 set--moving that to next week--need a flatter hill than the hill of death I used today! Also, I need a longer hill too--I almost got to the top at the 6 minute interval.

Another rough day. Yesterday my calf (I think my soleus, specifically) started to hurt. I got up to head home from the office and couldn't walk properly. What the heck? So I iced it and took some anti-inflammatories and hoped it would feel better today. It doesn't.
I'm also still not sleeping well, and crying pretty consistently. But what happens when I try to get an appointment to see the doctor? They can't fit me in for six weeks. I explained that I thought my depression was becoming a real issue, and didn't know if I could hang on that long. So now I have an appointment for three weeks from now. Sigh.

After all of the stress and pressure I am feeling good today. I've done everything I can and will just cross my fingers that enough media show up tonight that people pat me on the back. One outlet is 99% guaranteed bringing a videographer and a journalist, but the other print and ALL the broadcast outlets are up in the air. My exclusive pitch was declined, and everyone else said we are on the schedule but it just depends what happens in the news today. Which I know, that's how it works, but it just makes it nerve wracking - especially since I want to show everyone that while it's not my job, I can do this.
This process, while I've done it before, really opened my eyes to how much I don't want this kind of job. I decided last week I'm not applying for the fired guy's job and this really solidifies it. I'm very capable of doing it, but it stresses me out to no end. It's not enjoyable to me in the least, like it is for other folks. I would be so unhappy doing this day in and day out f[...]

As I drove to work today I realized the time had finally come - it's time to squeeze in a few bike commutes before winter!  It seems silly to be thinking about winter in August, and it's 80 degrees out, but things will change quickly.  
I am going to set a goal of riding one day/week.   That will help me take it from "if" to "when."  I am going on another trip in October, so I can plan 6 weeks ahead.

We've been covering a really simple topic the past couple (and next few) weeks at church. How do you bring the light of your faith into the world? Boy oh boy have I figured out just how much work I have to do. I think most of us, no matter what faith or non faith we ascribe to, have the best intentions each day to be good. Or more to the point to DO good. Unfortunately, I feel like most days I miss the mark. But I'm pretty sure I get another chance to try it again tomorrow. woke up coughing and couldn't stop. very tired of late. really hope it doesn't go full blown cold. stupid allergies have been awful all year!

picking up the 404 today since the hub recall is fixed. love Fraser and all they do for me!
*update* got the 404, new tires. tubes, spare tubes that will actually work on the 808, and a new big ring up front. The chain was skipping and has been dropping, which shouldn't happen with the di2. Lord. I am hoping to get a new rig soon, but I've invested $300 in parts this summer! GAH~ Good news is she's all ready to go for this weekend and race day.
