No workout today, didn't feel recovered from the run in the heat of Thursday night and have a long run on Saturday. Not sure how that's going to work, the temp for Saturday is forecast to be in the 90s with very high humidity. It might be a lot of walking.

I got a two-bottle Nathan belt thingy today and some new running shoes. Went with the Brooks Pure Flows. Have been running in the Pure Connect for several years, but have to say that Brooks changed this shoe substantially and it was time to investigate an alternative.

So much for planning.  Thought I was going to ride last night...didn't happen.  Thought I was going to run tonight...didn't happen, although I did take a long walk.  I really need to do something tomorrow.  I'm thinking that with all the resting I've done lately, I may skip my usual Monday rest day.  I still need to map out my training between now and my next race; it's only 4 weeks away!!!  I was talking with Alex about it.  I'm thinking I might start back at the levels I was at 2 weeks ago, increase in week 2, maintain that level in week 3, then decrease the final week of the race.  I'll have to look at the numbers to see if that makes sense. 
Now if I can just find someplace to swim.  There's a pool here at the hotel but it's ~15 yds.  I suppose I can make that work as long as I don't push off.  If I push off, I'll maybe get 4 strokes in before I whack my hand on the side and have to turn around.  Evidently, some [...]

Leg hurts like a beast where the cat bit it....Slept like crap.  Session with MrE tonight.
First time in over 20 years where no kids in house.....strange.  Since I got pregnant with Thing 1 when we were married only 3 months, and gave birth to Miss Thing when she was only 18 months it seems like we have always had kids ......cause we have......this empty nest will take some getting used to!!

All right, I finally actually registered for the race, so it's a go tomorrow! My friend Christy and her boyfriend registered too, so I won't be the only one. Weather is showing 60% chance of rain in Winter Park tomorrow, with 1-2" of rain possible, so my worries now are more about the freaking weather than how well I can do. I know I can do the distance, so I'm just going to go out there and do my best!
Nate's working on a house in Granby today, so I got a hotel room in Winter Park last minute for tonight. I figure it would be dumb for him to come all the way home then drive back up tomorrow morning, and this way I won't be rushed in the morning (when I did the hill climb it was a bit stressful getting to the start line in time!).

What do you do when you wake up at 5:30 and can't get back to sleep?  I guess you go for a run?
My co-worker is running at least 1 mile for 100 days.  It seemed like a good way to get back in the habit of training. Not sure I will make it 100 days, but I am hoping to make it 30 days. I was planning to start on 9/1, but I think I'm starting today instead.
I also have runs to do for the Hogwart's Running Club: Sorcerer's Stone 5k Chamber of Secrets 10k A Walk in the Moonlight 5k Platform 9 3/4 9.75k
My total distance to catch up on that is: 29 3/4 k or 18.5 miles.  I'd really like to finish that by the end of September.

I've got MEH's salsa chicken recipe in the crock pot! Just chicken breasts and a jar of salsa on low all day, shred in the crock pot when I get home. I used green salsa because I'm obsessed with it, and might add in some black beans before wrapping in corn tortillas tonight. 
Debating doing my last 4-mile run for the week TONIGHT (in the heat again, and mere hours before our 5:30 a.m. start tomorrow morning) or wait until SUNDAY. I know I'll be a bit sore Sunday, but is the rest more important on the day before or after my long run? I kinda want to get it out of the way tonight, but don't want it to affect the 16 miles tomorrow.

So the plan to get in the pool every day this week starts into action on Friday.  I can only do today.  Cannot do yesterday or tomorrow.   So today I got in the pool.  I'm pleased.
Also I worked on consulting work all morning - not administrative stuff.  pleased about that too.
