Early work day so I found some new mountain bike track and then took the road bike out for a spin afterwards and then finished the evening off with a treadmill run. It is training camp week so I will be hitting it hard and resting a lot as well!

Bought a new strength DVD. Jillian from Biggest Loser. Not sure I like it or not. The movements were complicated so I had to stop the DVD, watch them do the exercise then try to make sure I was doing it correctly and not injure myself! Everything had 2 or three steps but you used your whole body. I do better when I can focus on one thing at a time. So for instance a lunge too simple so lets add arms tricep bend then push up to balance on 1 leg while still trying to do the tri exercise. My balance sucks so this whole exercise I just felt like I didn't get that much out of because I couldn't do it properly. Maybe it will come with a little more practice.

Rather good day where I got done more than expected. Feeling a bit irritable though. Hubby eating too much of my hard effort cooking. Could consider it a compliment I guess.

7:17am:  Feeling pretty decent this morning -- a small miracle since I had weird, weird dreams last night and slept fitfully.
My hand is feeling pretty good, though it's still a little swollen -- I'm not sure what dog got me, but whoever it was did a good job at it, for sure.  Regardless, I think today I'll strength train ... despite the swelling, gripping no longer hurts so I think I'm good to go.

My bio-metric screening results are back! A full vial of blood to get these results:
Waist circumference: 25 (target <35)
Triglycerides: 126 (target <150)
Blood pressure: 124/74 (target 120/80)
Blood glucose: 83 (target <100)
Total cholesterol: 172 (target 125-200)
HDL cholesterol: 62 (target >46)
LDL cholesterol: 85 (target <130)
The only "alert" area where I was on the line was blood pressure. Normal range is 120/80 and I was just slightly over that. They told me in the screening that number was "good" but I guess the computer program thinks otherwise. Really pleased with my other numbers, especially triglycerides and cholesterol. In the past I've had super low good cholesterol and I've never seen a triglyceride number.

Todays Spinerval is supposed to include a 1000 yard swim, 30 min bike with a brick run.  I am thinking I can do the brick after work but am not sure about getting the swim in today.  Was thinking about swimming tomorrow morning and doing the Coach's run tomorrow night.
Kept my run shorter than the Spinerval called for cause I am running more than the 8K plan calls for already.  Not by a lot--but no need to stress the legs too much.  I haven't done a brick since my last tri in June!!

Stats taken after run and before dinner, %water 69.3, muscle 38.5, bone 4.0. Essentially followed the plan today. Really all I can do in the evenings after work now considering how dark it gets. Ramping down before the race anyway, so works out. Decent swim and treadmill workouts though I think I may need to calibrate my foot pod again. Left foot in inside ankle and also a bit of the Achilles/heel bothering me during and after the run. But this is the last run until the race now.

Tomorrow: pick up wetsuit (it was being adjusted), pick up bike, and pack. I will need to spend a light hour on the trainer if the rain doesn't let up.

Thurs: drive to race site with fellow triathlete Jon Ege. It will be his first Half. Hopefully, we can at least drive the bike course after we get there.

Fri: race prep - packet pickup, turn in run gear bag, pack bike gear bag, relax as much as possible

Sat: RACE!

Three Wishes

I've been feeling pretty frustrated and down these past few days and I had a meltdown last night. Part of the problem, probably a of of the problem in fact, is that I feel like I haven't slept in four weeks. I've been "sleeping but apparently it's not restful sleeping.
Also, I find it to be very unhelpful when coworkers point out things my saying, "Too bad you're missing all this great weather!"  I want to say unkind things to the children that approached me in Costco and said, in a rude and nasty tone that even took my mlld-mannered husband aback, "What did you do to that?!"  And telling me that your recovery is faster than mine? Also not helpful.

9:58 AM: It was sunny this morning, so I broke my 51° rule and drove into work with the top down. (Top down, coat on, heat blasting) . Probably one of my last chances. The convertible is good for about 6 months out of the year. Maybe 7 if I can start putting the top down late March and go through early November.
Woke up in the middle of the night confused about what day of the week it was. Chris had gotten up to use the bathroom, and I rolled over and looked at the clock... 4:34 AM. Convinced it was going to be Saturday, I asked Chris "What day of the week is it?" Imagine my disappointment when he said... "Well, yesterday was Monday, so that makes today Tuesday!" WHAT? I would have bet my right eye it was Saturday. SAAAATTTTTTUUUUURRRRDDDAAAAY. Nope. Tuesday. I just had a weekend, I am not entitled to another one. At least not yet. Weird. I felt very disoriented. And very disappointed. Tuesday. WTF.
Bah. My right eye is the weaker of the two, anyway.

But then I s[...]
