  • ..except now the reality that we actually hooked a night crawler with the snake tool is setting in. There has to be some pretty significant holes and deterioration for a night crawler to enter your pipes and there certainly was plenty of dirt. Google says $1.5-4k for a complete sewer line replacement, but not sure if it runs under our garage or not or if they even have the technology locally (remember, I don't even have direct deposit for my paycheck. They live about 50 years+ in the past here.) to do the trenchless replacement. We used so much of the snake line though that I wonder if the main line is where the problem is rather than on our property.

  • Interesting to look at Case's benefit info this weekend. The company pays for the life, AD&D, long-term disability and short-term disability insurance. I think the couple days they spent near the tracks last week kind of drove home how potentially dangerous his job could be. All the more reason to work hard and promote [...]

"Everyone Dies. But not everyone really lives."
I saw this one this morning and it really hit me. I have been doing a bunch of thinking along the lines of career & income. I am in a position to begin to consider if this is where I want to be, or if there is a different line that I should begin to follow. I switched careers about 15 years ago and it seems to be working out just fine. But is it all I want it to be, or am I simply putting in my time? And what else is out there that would crank me up and make me want to jump out of bed in the morning and head out the door to work? Am I putting too much emphasis on the job part of things, when my reality is that the job is simply a tool to get me closer to the free time I enjoy and the things I want to do in that free time? A lot to ponder.

7:12am:  Bears played late last night, which was a shame since the first half -- which I was awake to see -- was awful, but they (somehow) managed to pull out a victory in the 4th quarter -- while I was asleep.  Oh well.
Trainer beatdown after work.  I'm a little slow moving this morning; pretty sore from the baseline workouts and from doing stairs (my Achilles isn't too pleased with me).  But - it's all good, ya know?

Today marks day 1 of get my in the gym and start strength training. I will strength train for at least 15 minutes a day each day this week. I'm hoping by starting with a small amount, I'll get back in the habit and it won't be such a chore for me to continue on a regular basis.

I baked peanut butter chocolate chip cookies yesterday for a friend who takes them into prison for a ministry program. The cookies have to be a certain size and I was compelled to eat the ones that weren't the proper size. :) Anywhoo, yesterday was not my best day in the nutritional sense. Back on track today.

Not really a focused session. Got a set in for everything I could think of. It's a start and I'll be better prepared for tomorrow.

    A Bit Longer Run
Decided with the cooler temperatures finally here, and that I'm pretty solid on my 5k (although still not as fast as I'd like), I decided that it was time to stretch the distance a little bit.   So instead of 5k, I did 3.56.   Not a large jump, but about 10 percent.   Need to get myself back to 4 plus mile runs for my daily.    I probably could have done 4 miles this morning no problem, but there is a fairly significant hill on the route the last half mile, and I just didn't feel like I had it in me to run up it.   Wimpy I know, but it is what it is.
Overall, very happy, particularly since I went out a bit faster than I probably should have. But no worries.  Got it done, and that's the important part.

Got my training in last week but did not most most of it. Between posting it for my Coach and on Training Peaks
sometimes I don't get it here. I have to swim today and then will be out of town...hope I can find somewhere to swim
in NC. Can't wait to see my daughter and her family though. Will be back in time for the weekend.

And so begins another week of waiting and wondering!  Still 5 days away from the actual due date but really hoping he decides to show up before then.  Anytime now, kid!  We're ready.  Ready as we're going to be, that is.
Exhausted again this morning...was plenty comfortable for most of last night, but felt like I spent more of it wide awake than actually asleep.  Thank god for these half days at work...definitely don't have the energy or desire to spend any longer than 4ish hours here anymore.  Just not comfortable driving to/from and sitting at my desk, either.  Plus, since I've already shifted my patient load to my coworkers and tied up all the administrative loose ends....there really isn't anything for me to do!
