Went to teach Spin and everyone had cancelled. Must be the back to school madness setting in. Just as well I wasn't feeling the love.

Find out what I can do

After run, a couple of quick chores in Ruidoso and check the forestry work that is supposed to be going on on my lot.  I may have to fire my guy.  Let him know that I needed it done in the next couple of weeks.  He did half, then basically has been procrastinating for the last two months.
Unload ski gear from U-Haul, load up big book case and drive to Roswell for meeting then home to Midland.  Long day, but I enjoyed my run.
It was so gorgeous.  You could smell the forest.  They were mowing grass on the golf course and it was just a lovely cool late summer morning in the mountains.  The grass is super green everywhere.  I had five inches of water in my rain gauge.

Life won't wait forever

9:17am:  It seems that August and summer have finally arrived ... looking at a week of high temperatures and high humidity and intermittent storms.
Supposed to go over to my parents' house right after work for dinner with relatives, but I think I'm going to try and beg off.  I've been absolutely dragging along these past few days and not much of me wants to have to socialize once I finally leave here.  I think I'd rather go for a walk, take a shower and go to bed.

Loving my new car today!  Over the past week, I've been wondering if I made the right decision, going from the huge Jeep to such a small car (Eos).  But then, I filled up the gas tank yesterday for only $55 (compared to the $75-80), and that's using the premium grade.  Then, this morning, I drove into work with the windows down and sunroof open, and just LOVED the fresh air (except for the one time I pulled up next to a smoker..yuck!).  I don't normally shower in the mornings b/c I get so hot and sweaty, but since I ran, I had to today.. and the breeze really helped cool me down... and as an added bonus, I was able to put heat on my back with the heated seats.  I have to go to REI to pick up my new bike rack at some point and am getting my hitch installed on Friday.. just have to remember not to open the roof when the bike is on the car!!

Feeling a bit better this morning but didn't get up to run. I think I just worked myself to the bone yesterday. Going to try and get on the road at a decent hour to get a run in tonight.

1 month to go!  (give or take...)
Today started out just spendidly.  I was actually sleeping fairly well and comfortably, and then my phone rang at 4am.  Yup.  On the random urinalysis list.  Yes, even at 8 months pregnant.  Obviously the Army doesn't trust that the health and welfare of my unborn child isn't motivation enough for me to avoid illegal substances.  Out the window went my plan to swim this morning (which I was really looking forward to, especially since my lower back has been bothering me the last few days), as well as another hour of sleep.
So...I'm going to try to leave work a little early and swim this afternoon instead, if I can summon the energy.
Not sure if this is better or worse than spending the day watching the movers pack up the house (which is what Travis and my dad will be doing).

√ Ride tonight!
Emma did better last night.  We gave her pepcid before bed. to settle her tummy.  Well, actually, we told her it was cheese but a regular strength pepcid was stuffed inside ;-)
Monday night, poor Emma woke up twice with urka gurkas. I don't think that any of Monday's dinner stayed down. :-(  At least she ran to the kitchen to do that.
I heard back from Saris and they are going to exchange the resistance unit.  I need to box it up and send it to them.  You know, in my spare time.

Forward is a pace!!!

I was finally able to talk with my old boss tonight, and it will either be 2 or 4 weeks until he can present the proposal for me to work remotely to the board of directors.  Things working in my favour: the lawyers I worked with all want me back I REALLY want to go back one of the named partners and the highest earning lawyer in the firm wants me back  the managing partner is a friend of mine and I think I can sway him
Things NOT working in my favour: I would be the first paralegal in the firm to attempt to work from home on a regular basis figuring out all the IT stuff BEFORE hand could be a chore  we would need a 4-3 vote for it to go through
I'm heading back to Chicago on the 28th and lunch has already been set up with the guys for the 29th to see where things are at.  I can't wait to see them, and I seriously can't tell you how much I hope this works out.
Keep your fingers crossed!!

Reviewing today's phonics lesson. Not liking this curriculum. They want the kids to be able to code every single sound. Who writes words with codes surrounding every letter sound?  Then memorize every little rule OMG.  So todays rule - "When a vowel is followed by a consonant, it is closed, like a door, and the vowel is short. When an accented vowel is  not followed by a consonant, it is open, and the vowel is long."  All of this to read the words no & on.
But we got through it and found some words that fit the rule in our reading today. I have a plan to let Grace feed the word cards to my Little Old Lady Who Swallowed the Fly puppet tomorrow and see if that is a little more engaging for her.

This was math meeting today. She introduced me to our new little classmate and she was teaching her the days of the week :).

Core, squats, lunges, bridges, planks, foam roller on my shoulder and hip. Not into the strength training stuff tonight.

Out of the Darkness

Was going to wait another day to let my hip settle down but just couldn't stand it.  It felt so weird to not do SOMETHING, plus I have my next race in a little more than 4 weeks so I figured I'd just do a little run.  (Love that almost 3 miles has become "just a little run"!)  I changed the display on my Garmin to show current pace instead of average pace and like that better, although it's a bit shocking to look down and see a pace that feels faster than it is.  I find it's hard for me to mentally tolerate anything under 10:30 - that just seems so slow.  Funny how perspective changes over time!!
Speaking of perspective, yesterday, I had a coworker, after I told him that I'd done my tri over the weekend, tell me that he had thought I'd lost weight because I was sick.  Yes, I have lost about 15-20 lbs and my clothes are getting a little baggy, but really????  I still weigh more than I did when I graduated from college in the 90's and it's not like [...]
