Enjoy the Journey

Either the heavy pollen is having an effect or I'm coming down with a summer cold. Slept like a log and didn't get up for my planned run. I guess I needed the sleep. Might be able to squeeze something in later in the day.

4 miles didn't happen. Went home, sat on the bed and the comforter just tore - all the way across almost at a seam. Packed it up, and went to Kohls. They refunded my money to my card and I looked - they had all the same brand - not happening. Went to BB&B and found a nice one. Home at 9pm. :| Will make run up tomorrow. This marathon training is not going as planned.

will try for 4 miles today - if the hip doesn't want to do it in run form - I will do 4 miles on the elliptical. Will stick to plan this week. WILL!

My Shenanigans

Major life changes (well, a bit of an exaggeration).
The wedding pictures from the weekend of July 20th had me realizing how overweight I have become.  Changed my diet and started to workout as soon as I got back on the 24th.  The weekend was more housework and walking, but still active.  I think I got a run in on Friday, but I would have to check my Garmin.
For the record, I measured (and I KNOW it was a bad time to do it, right after a wedding and vacation), but I was 260 lbs, almost 30 on the BMI scale, 30% BF on the home scale, and basically 30 to 40 lbs overweight.  That all went down a little after returning to my normal schedule, but it's still bad.
SO...  THAT'S the starting benchmark (and heaviest I have EVER been) that caused me to really take this seriously (that and the fact my new-ish 3 piece suit felt like wetsuit in terms of fit) that cause me to toss out the crap, eat the good, plunk down mone[...]

I Made it to Ironville!

I did my first ever bike commute to work !  I have my sister's bike that is a cheap bike that is okay to lock up outside - it was pretty good and uneventful which is what you want in a bike commute. Lots of other cyclists - there seems to be order on College st and most people respecting red lights.
I was really late to work, though. I was on drop off for the baby so by the time i got her all ready and walked over and home it was way past 8:30.  It took about the same amount of time as it does to take the TTC - i am sure I could be a little quicker. I have to figure out the transition between the railpath and college st.  It doesn't make sense to me to cross the road and then cross literally 250m later to turn left across streetcar tracks.  But I also don't really love the idea of biking on the sidewalk.
I won't have to worry about it on the way home because it's all right hand turns there.

6:21am:  I was pretty productive yesterday; got my workout in, got a lot of my packing done AND watched most of American Ninja Warrior.  Today has more of the same on the agenda, with burgers on the grill tossed into the mix as well.  That'll not only be dinner, but then lunch for the rest of the week.  Look at me being all nutritionally organized!

Can I log pushing the pool broom around the pool for an hour and diving down to the bottom of the pool to scoop up gravel  as exercise? It's looking good now though. I think we have it cleaned up enough to actually run the vacuum.
I made the kids wait to get in until I was finished with this so they didn't stir it all up again. I finally let them in and here come the 4 neighbor girls with their suits on. WTF? Here we go. I said is there another adult coming with you? Well no our babysitter is at home with her boyfriend. Ummm, no. You tell your babysitter she needs to sit down here with you and call your Mom to tell her your swimming. So the little ones had to go do the running back to babysitter who said the oldest can be in charge. I said Well no, this is my house and my pool and I say there needs to be another adult with you. I am not going to supervise 6 kids in the pool by myself all afternoon. Irritated. The two older girls stayed for a while but the little ones went hom[...]

Work a Little Harder

I hope that I am not stuck in a loop of injuries. ARGH.  Getting the race in August changed to a relay. I'll bike, Dan will swim and Marcia will run.
Not my monkey, not my circus. I have some real strong feelings about patch day in this company. Today the IT guys admitted yet again that it "didn't go so well". At what point do we make an effort to fix that? Or do we keep throwing bandaids at issues? Silly me, get more bandaids!
In completely unrelated news, Thursday is "Celebrity Bartender Night" at a local watering hole in order to raise funds for the Englewood Cancer Society. Gary, the LBS owner, is the celebrity. Sounds like 2 good reasons to go!!!

"GET TO MILE 18 on the run!"

Welcome to IM training week 27! 4 to go!

Stats taken after strength session and before dinner, %water 70.3, muscle 39.2, bone 4.1. Followed the plan for today. Chilly this morning, only around 60! What month is this??? Wish it was this was for IMLO! Probably no such luck but it's been an abnormal summer so far. So who knows? Trying with the Tempo Trainer again and I don't think I'm doing the catch correct for the stroke rate. It seems to be fine, though perhaps a bit hurried. I just seem to not be moving as fast as I think I should be for the rate. Will continue to work on it.

Then, decided to retest once again my FTP on the CT. Changed wheels as I thought perhaps something was wrong with the other causing the tubes to go flat. This one seemed okay as I started and I went through the sequence okay. FTP = 250. So, still in line with the test I did back in Jan, if not a bit better. So, not sure exactly how to equate this with outside riding. I have an email into p[...]
