This race is only 8 weeks away but I haven't seen any other threads on it so I am starting this one in case anyone else is doing it.
Training thus far has been indoors only due to my being sick of and on. I've been a little concerned about what to expect out there. I know from race reports that the run is hilly and that the swim is in a lagoon but that's about all I know.
Anyone else doing Puerto Rico with me??

I am racing. I have raced there the past two years. You can expect a fair amount of heat and a bit of wind. The wind generally isn't terrible though. The swim is in a protected lagoon, so the water is quite flat. The bike is nice that it is closed to traffic. It's a pretty straight forward bike course without too much to get worried about. The run is the most challenging part of this course. Between the heat and the two steep hills that you do twice each, it can be tough. If you have any specific questions let me know.

thanks for the info
Any idea on the elevation of the run? how long those hills are?
I am working on hill running now but being in NW Indiana near Chicago the cold weather doesn't really help with heat acclimation

Total elevation I'm not sure. The two big climbs are the ones to worry about. The first one is not very long, but it's quite steep...maybe 250 meters. Going down hurts just as much as going up. It slams your knees and quads. The second one is coming back out of "the microwave" by the ocean. That's a bit long...maybe a quarter mile. It is on cobbles too so footing can be a bit tricky, especially as it gets wet from the aid station nearby. Try working the treadmill for some intervals at a decent incline. The sauna can help a bit with heat if you hop right in after a workout. I'm in upstate NY so I know the feeling.

I just finished the NYC marathon on Sunday and I think I'm going to venture into triathlons. I am doing an Olympic distance and I want to do a 70.3 next year too. Any advice?

Some mistakes I made during the Hawaii Ironman 70.3. Don't be caught out on the course not knowing how or not having the equipment to change a flat tire.

It was the morning of Ironman Newfoundland 70.3, I felt queasy. I didn't want to eat or drink anything. I had a full blown case of the pre-race HEEBEE GEEBEES.
