Subject: Question about difference in leg size/foot size for running
Hey,

I just started training for triathlons about a month ago. I started running regularly a little longer ago than that. This has been my first time running since back when I was back in high school (I am 21 now).
My left leg has been hurting me ever since I started running again (the shin). I have viewed a ton of internet videos to adjust my running form. However, today I ran 5K and really focused on what the issue was. I came to the conclusion that I believe my left leg is shorter than my right leg.
I know for a fact that my right foot is slighty bigger than my left foot, so I am assuming that my right leg is also a little bigger than my left leg. This would explain for the pain in my left leg (taking more force than the right leg). Am I wrong about this? And what can I do? Thanks

My right foot is almost 1/2 a shoe size bigger than the left but right leg is shorter.  The pain is not likely due to the size of oyur feet but your gait - the positions of your feet when landing on the ground.  Do a gait analysis - many running stores do them, or a chiropractor, or physical therapist.  When you figure out what type of gaits you have, get shoes appropriate for your type.  For a while i used a pair of  "cushioing" shoes which apparently are too soft for me.  It causes problem with my right piriformis.

Only a specialist should determine that and in if that is case suggest insoles, PT, etc.

99.9% of the time beginners battled minor pains/injuries due to improper training and or lack of leg adaptations to running. It takes consistency, patience and time to get the legs ready for the stress of running.
