Comments:

Not a great run. Finished 1:30 off my goal time. Felt like I struggled right from the starting gun. I knew things were not going well when I dropped my MP3 player in the first mile and it broke - No music for the race. :(

Legs were tight and I never got a good rhythm during the race. Breathing was also a little heavy. I didn't wear a HR monitor, but I would guess my HR was through the roof. My splits tell the story. I was struggling in the middle and almost considered quitting at the 5K mark.

Even with all these issues, race was still a personal best. Reason is I haven't run this distance race since May and my times have improved significantly since that time.
What would you do differently?:

Allow my body more time to rest before race. I believe my training had a negative effect on this race.
Post race
Warm down:

Walking, catching my breath.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Lack of training and rest specifically for this race.

Event comments:

27th annual race. If I am around, I will make this race a Thanksgiving tradition.

I'm sorry that you felt you had a bad run, but it still is a PB, and look how far you've come. You're doing awesome man!
Good for you for pushing through that last 5k. Sometimes I feel off before I even get started, same as you seemed to. Just got to push on through and do the best we can. Nice work.

G

ps. sorry too about your mp3 player. What a rotten distraction first thing into a race.
