Subject: counting calories question and how to eat more ?!?

hey all

quick question for you. i have just started a new job and it's a LOT more active. i.e. changing from sitting on my a$$ in an office to standing around outside all day, for up to 6 hours 30 each day. plus i am bike commuting everyday. this is burning about an extra 680 calories per day.

how on earth do i get more healthy calories in, mainly during my working day; dinner seems to be fine

also atm to help focus things i am trying to log my calories every (work) day. all good but i am scared i am getting paranoid about this and don't want it to become a huge issue. any advice/hints?

btw i am currently 153 and aiming for 147 soon (ish

Honestly if you're asking a question about how to eat an extra 680 healthy calories in a day and you're not sure if you are being too picky, you may have answered your own question.

You're just doing everyday non strenuous work that happens to burn a few extra calories each day.

I'm 150 lbs and slowly loosing weight, and I've never counted.

Just eat healthy and train.

Here are some simpler things I bring to work on a regular basis for snacks.  Some things are more portable than others.  I carry everything in either a bento box (insulated) or a small messenger bag and have them on hand.  I'm assuming you have access to hot water.  Not sure if you are looking for more protein or carbs or what...

nuts and raisins (1 ounce of nuts, 1/4 cup of raisins) = 320 calories
cup of romaine lettuce w/sunflower seeds or almonds, 1 tsp olive oil, vinegar = approx 200
1 scoop protein and 1 packet diet hot chocolate mix = 150
dried cranberries, 1/4 cup = 130 calories
packet of oatmeal = 150 calories

Then there's all the obvious stuff like hard boiled eggs, wraps, fruit, etc.

I'm a calorie counter too and I like it... it works for some and not for others.  If you think you're getting too carried away with it, you could take a week off here and there.  You'll probably find that you can "eyeball" stuff pretty well, so it wouldn't be an issue.

Peanutbutter is a good booster calorie wise you can get in 100-200 fairly easily. Put it on Celery or toast if you want the carbs. Plus it's healthy fats... but the natural kind is what you want.

Almond butter is a good option too.
