Subject: Big Guy swim jammer/tri shorts

I'm hoping y'all can help- thought I would post a separate thread rather than posting in the other one. I've found tri shorts that fit my hubby (6' 280 lbs size 46-48) but, no swim jammers. And after wearing his tri shorts in the pool for about a month, they are see through. He's wearing underarmour compression shorts under them, but still, you can put your finger through them almost.

I found a website that has tri shorts and biking shorts for bigger guys- and the shorts fit, but there is no drawstring, and now in the pool he's having to stop and pull them up after every lap.

So my question is this, are there jammers out there that will fit him, or is there a tri short (with a draw string) that can withstand frequent chlorine/pool use? I've got to find something for him to wear and the swim trunks he wears in the summer are just too much drag.

Thanks in advance for any help!

When I was wearing jammers I was about 250 with a 38-40 inch waste. I wore speedo jammers and liked them but they faded way to fast. Since then I just wear regular swimming trunks and been doing so for about 2 years and will now and always train in them.

Have you tried calling swimoutlet.com to see if they have anything. They are a huge place...other choice might be Keifers...they sell lots of strange stuff like for schools so they have to have lots of sizes. They even have their own line of endurance suits.

Yep. the XXL speedo/tyr/dolphin jammers pretty much only go up to about a 42 waist.

Keifers, didn't see anything on their website either...

what about regular bike shorts?  the padding wouldn't provide any more drag than loose cotton swim trunks  ... try performancebike.com, they have big boy sizes to 4 xl, I think.

I would advise against swimming in bike shorts. The larger, thicker chamios soaks up water, becomes heavy, and RUBS.

Just my two cents.

6' 290 here and a 44 waist. 54 chest

I love the jaggad trisuit - it is a trisuit but it has a removeable chamois which essentially makes the suit a jammer - it is thick material as well - so the suit does not become "sheer" like some of the others - i wore a 2xu which was so snug until my wife rode with me one day and said she could see my b-crack - never wore it again.

Check out the jaggad fits me well!

BTW: I have the desoto, speedo, lg, and a host of others - the only other trisuit that fits is the bt xxxl trisuit.

Jaggad makes the shorts as well not just the trisuit - same material and same fit.

I don't know if you have already found what you are looking for, I have had a lot of trouble finding tri gear that will fit me also. I stumbled upon this web site and I am going to order a pair of jammers Tues or Weds this week. Good luck.

Actually, the aerotech shorts do fit, but they are the ones that don't have the drawstring so they keep rolling down in the pool.

 DOH!

I'm gonna try to put a drawstring in them. I'm not that handy though so I hope I don't kill them.

Will check out the jaggad tri shorts, too....

Thanks!

i've purposefuly stayed away from jammers in the pool, and gladly enjoy the extra speed I get in a race, wearing tri shorts.  I guess i've never really seen the benefit.  Im not saying there isn't one, but I can't see a benefit to technique when I am as slow as I am already.

how disappointing that the website advertises female sizes to 5X but in actuality carries shorts only to XL.  sux.
