I am thinking about doing this with Team In Training. Have you done this one before? I have only done 1 sprint distance tri last year. I was signed up for Santa Rosa until all the hurricanes hit.
I see you're from around my area!!!!

Never have done it before but I am looking forward to it.  I am originally from Memphis, so this was one that was on top of my list for this year.  I have heard nothing but good things about this OLY.  Should be a good time.

I will be going back and forth to Diamondhead a couple of times to ride and run on some "non-flat" terrain, so I will keep in touch, as I can always use a training partner if you are willing to meet me.  Bring whoever as the more the better.

I'll be doing some travelling to Memphis this Spring. I'll have to check my dates and see if I can weasel this in.
Thanks for the heads-up.

I am signed-up and training is going well - I am stoked! My first OLY - I hear the water temp dictates a wetsuit, right?

Lane-
Diamondhead is a beautiful area. I would love to meet sometime. I am sure I can get some of our Multisport club or bike club members interested in meeting.
I know that we will be going up to Hattiesburg on February 19 (Saturday) to ride the Longleaf Trail. It is a nice bike/running trail with not a lot of traffic for (I think) around 88 miles (round trip).
Let me know when you will be coming over.

Darr- We were posting at the same time. This will be my first Oly distance too. On the team in training site it says to bring your wetsuit. I think it said water temp around 68 degrees (I think) that time of year????

Newtri,

Have you started doing anything with Team in Training yet? How do you like it I was thinking about doing it myself and possibly doing the Memphis in May Tri or the escape from Ft. Delaware.

TuTac76-
I was going to do the century ride in Lake Tahoe last year with Team In Training, but due to circumstances beyond my control I wasn't able to do it. I know that I did get a whole bunch of info on how to do the fundraising, I got a t-shirt, a gym bag and a whole bunch of fundraising supplies. It is for a great cause and I feel it is worthy to do especially if you are already planning to do it.

This was my first oly tri last year. Very nice race and nicely put together. You all will have a great time! The water temp last year was 84 degrees! Also, the time trial start is a nice way to begin your first tri. I was considering doing it again, but my first 1/2 IM is just a couple weeks later. For all you TNT members, you will have a HUGE cheering section on about every section of the race. That alone kept me cruising along.

Does anyone have any info on the MIM mountain bike tri? My husband and I signed up for both, but someone told me the mountain bike tri is not very good. Last year it was supposedly on a golf course - the ride and run.

I'm in for both the Oly and MTB tri. The Oly is a FAR superior race to the MTB. From what I could see of the MTB course last year it involved some cross-field riding and runnning....not much "challenge" really.
The event itself is fun, well-run and worth the effort. Bear in mind that the lake is very shallow and it's temperature will change very quickly. If it is too warm for wetsuits on Sat, don't be suprised if it is wetsuit legal on Sun based on air temps! DON'T LEAVE YOUR WETSUIT AT THE HOTEL!
The Oly features a flat, fast but potentially windy bike course, and a hillier that I expected run. As someone else mentioned, the crowds were great and the post race food and beer (yum!) made the race extra special...
If you want/need more info, let me know.
