SbeatonNJ - 2008-04-15 6:59 AM Alright I'm out for Bassman. While changing my tires on my cross bike I noticed that the rear rim is cracked in several places, I guess 5 years and 10K will do that to an open pro. So it looks like my 100 entry fee will be going to new rims. I do plan on riding over to check out the race. Also, are you allowed to swim the day before during packet pick up? I see someone mentioned that and I wouldnt mind getting in a little open water swimming.

Last fall for HIM I swam as did other folks. I'm planning on swimming Saturday..need atleast 1 ows before the tri. Is it warm down there? I'm hoping some nice weather will warm up the lake/pond. It isn't deep so it won't take to many 70 degree days to make a difference.

Glad you found the rim crack.

Was warm all weekend and will be almost 80 (probably will be down there) on Friday. If it holds through next week probably won't be too bad.

Can anyone who's do a race here before tell me how spectator friendly the venue is? My Dad mentioned he might want to come with me and he's not real mobile any longer. Are there places for folks to sit/congregate etc.?

Real bathrooms rank up there high with my family.

You can sit a couple different places in the shade to see the out and back on the bike near transition and then move maybe 25 yds to the other side to see you start the run and almost finish plus of course the swim.

No food is available so bring something.

I'd bring a chair so he could sit on edge of the road for viewing run and bike. There are picnic tables and the like in the park general area as well.

I was there this past Sunday, and the water was surprisingly nice, I would say mid to high 60s. As long as the last 2 days hasn't cooled it off too much you should be fine with a full suit. If it is like it was last weekend, or even a little warmer, there is a good chance that I way swim without a suit (I used to be an ocean lifeguard so cold water isn't anything foreign for me)... I'm getting excited to kick off my Triathlon season this weekend!

#248 here. There is a reason I don't have a picture of my bike, it is nothing like the one above!!

No idea what I'll wear, may go long sleeve depending on the weather.

Wow Kathy, that's an awesome bike. Maybe in the next year or two for me. Weather's been near 80 for a few days and should be through Friday.

I will be wearing a black TRI Top and Tri Shorts, nothing special. I should be easy to find because I will be with my girlfriend and roomate, and we all have the same bike (Javelin Parma)

I swam today and it was lovely and 65. It may be a little cooler tomorrow as it was chilly today.

I honestly was surprised how nice the water was. They were putting out the bouys and I asked you measuring it with GPS and they laughed so swim distance is a guess.

It does appear that it may rain tomorrow which makes a little challenging what to wear. I'll be adding clothes to my BT top after the swim not sure what yet.
