After 15 minutes of swimming this morning, I still started to feel sick. Even with SeaBands on. Will this go away with practice? Should I take something like Dramamine? It's starting to get really annoying.

Dramamine has always done me well.  Just make sure you take it an hour before going in the water. Or on the boat in my case.

A friend of mine has the same issue. She started using ear plugs and that seemed to fix the issue with her. I also think you'll get more comfortable with practice. Hang in there!

I forgot to mention I also wear ear plugs. I'm going to try to take it easy. Start with maybe 10 laps and get out of the pool. Do 11 next week, etc, etc and see what happens. Maybe I just have to get used to rolling my brain around in my head. I guess when you want to be a Triathlete, you must have a small brain and it bangs around in your skull too much.!!!

I think (although I'm not an expert) that with training, this (like getting your sea legs) will no longer be an issue for you.  Good luck!

I get seasick on real rough water on small boats (not a good combo for living in Florida). I have found that meclizine (trade name Bonine) works MUCH better than Dramamine. It also has no sleepy side effects. Not sure what's causing our seasickness but this might help?

It's now 10:30, 5 hours have passed since my swim this morning, I'm still dizzy and burping, this sucks!!! What sucks the most is knowing I probably won't ever be able to stop it. I guess I'm a landlubber!!!!

The best thing that my wife has ever found is Motion Ease.  Its an Herbal rpoduct that you put on the skin behind your ear.  It doesn't stop it, it just severely lessens the effects.  She gets terribly motion sick, but loves to dive.  this is the only product that has given her any relief.

Could it be possible that the ear plugs are making me sick. Could they somehow be throwing off my equillibrium? When I first started swimming, I didn't get sick(without plugs), then a month into training it happened and I can't get rid of it, even after not swimming for a few months(with plugs)
I'm going to try swimming after work rather than first thing in the morning, without plugs and see what happens

I'm voting yes that the earplugs might make it worse.

My reasoning (here comes the tirade of critics): Your vestibular system relies on a variety of inputs to tell your brain what the outside world is doing to you. This is the reason you're top go outside and topside and look at the horizon on a boat if you're queasy. As for earplugs in the swim, you're keeping your inner ear at a different temperature than the rest of your body. Your brain is conflicted between the two inputs.

Another thing might be your swimming form. Are you tossing your head an inordiate amount? Bilateral breathing to re-equilibrate rather than constantly flinging in one direction? Just some ideas about what might be going on other than the plugs.

I haven't had vertigo in years, but the one thing which still to this day makes me trigger is unloading the grocery cart. Down, up, twist, repeat quickly and I'm ready to go. I have to do this very carefully to keep it from triggering.
