Anyone shop here?

I walked over to their store on 58th and 7th Ave. today - the place was all tore up as they're renovating. Also pretty cool as they have an endless pool in the store.

I used to HATE the place--went there a couple of times and got terrible service. Then, I got a gift certificate for Xmas last year, so I was sort of forced to go there to spend it. It's like a different place. I know you'll get lots of opinions about them, but I go there pretty often (once a month, at least), and in general, the service ranges from fine to very good. I've bought big stuff (a wetsuit) small stuff (goggles, apparel, nutrition) there, and used their services (had them ship a bike to a race for me). Consistently good service. I wrote an email to the owner and got a very prompt, personal reply.

I think, pound for pound, they're the best tri store in NYC. And I didn't always feel that way.

Good to know.  They seemed to have changed from thier humble beginnings in Times Square. I also had a terrible experience after they moved to CPW. Maybe they've reverted back.

I get almost all of my stuff on-line these days but in a pinch maybe I'll give them another shot.

Hi,

I live up in westchester.  Got my wetsuit there last year as I had never worn one and wanted to swim with it on to try out.  They were great.

Just this past weekend I picked up a Cervelo P2c.  They went out of their way to make me happy.  I wanted the ultegra model, but they were all sold in my size.  For the ultegra price, they built up a bike from the dura-ace paint schemed frame for me (which I like better) and they left of the CL fork and the R550 wheels.  Great service.

I would recommend them.

You know what they say about opinions.

I had 2 very bad experiences with them.

Amongst the people I train with we say that SBR stands for "Suckers Buy heRe"

I rented a wetsuit from them for my first tri, and once I rented an hour in the endless pool, but it was weird swimming in front of shoppers who could just sort of gawk at me anytime they wanted. I like the place, the sales people seem to take enough time to talk to you and answer questions.

Been there a few times last year -they seem to only be "nice" when you are spnding big money -may try them again, maybe things have changed. I usually shop online or at Jack Rabbit on 14th Street they no longer carrybike stuff but have evrything else covered and are always helpful!
