After doing some research I havent found an ACTUAL website for the resort. Ive found all kinds of reports about this place, but no HARD facts.

If anyone has any info... estimated completion date.. or if it will even happen let me know

Originally I heard that it was supposed to open in 2009, but as far as I know, they have not even broken ground on it yet.

Yes it's true.. I lady I work husband's company is/has bid to  dowork on the project. He is in the geology field and they are checking out how it's all going to work.  At our last happy hour he was there and explaining some of it to me.. way over my head though

I almost posted a  "what are they going to do, have fake snow and fake mountains..." but now I just looked at that site...and umm, not so sarcastic...interesting though.  If they can do it in Dubai, why not DFW...

We can't wait for this to become reality, although I am guessing it will take a 2nd mortgage on the house to actually visit there.

Since it's being built in DFW, I'm sure you could just drive from home and pay to ride the slopes. If you just go to ski, you could probably get away relatively cheap. The expensive stuff is the hotel room/massage/spa treatment/etc.

And besides, think of all the gas money you're saving by not driving 10 hours to Santa Fe...

I am betting they do the same thing that the new Great Wolf Resort (indoor waterpark) is doing here.  We were so excited that it was coming to town, and then they announced that only overnight resort guests can get into the waterpark. So....even though it is less than 10 miles from my house, we have to get a room for the night just to use it.  Room rates last weekend were $425 and up

It will not be a surprise if Bear Fire does the same thing.

I am in the hospitality industry, more specific hotels, and I can guarantee you that when they open up they will try to do the smae thing that Great Wolf is doing. They will change their tune a few months in when they realize that the demand from the locals is too high to pass up. The last that I heard on BearFire was it was looking more like 2010 for the opening, but that was a few months ago.
