Ok, I'm terrible about getting to the pool. My grand plan is once a week swim during the week and then ramp up 3x a week a month before the race. I know it's not the best plan.

I was wondering if anyone else swims at Cobb Aquatic Center (Central, Fairgrounds). If so, if anyone would be interested in meeting up there (or Mountain View) on the weekend. If not, Fairgrounds in the AM during the week? I could get my lazy butt there at 7am. There's just something about swimming in the early AM that does not appeal to me.

Anyway, I need some motivation. Fear of drowning usually does it but I need more

I know I could do masters but I've been a little turned off by the ones I've gone to (not around here). Like too much of other strokes, I'm too slow, too long, etc.
If anyone knows of a good tri-focused masters group, let me know.

I'm trying to start going to LA Fitness 2 mornings a week to swim.  If you're a member, you should join a few of us.  We do go earlier though.. around 5:45  Have you checked the lane availability of the 2 Cobb pools in the mornings?  I used to swim at Fairground with my club team and we pretty much took over in the mornings before school.   (How I made it to AM practice at 5am back then is still a mystery to me!)

Oh dear, 5:45 may be pushing it for me. Ok, I'll be honest, I probably couldn't do that one. I did join LA Fitness for a week to use the pool on the weekends but quit when it was really crowded and went to the Aquatic Center instead. I haven't tried the Aquatic Center in the AM yet, I work around the corner from it so I've gone at lunch a few times and on the weekend. Always availability. 5am practice is exactly why I was never on swim team!!

are you talking about the LA Fitness at Akers Mill?

I go to the la fitness in Roswell off hwy 92. I would be intersted in swimming with you as I am in quite the 30-1hr steady swim rut. I certainly could use some drills and what not but am not motivated to do it on my own.  But 7 am is too early  for me as I can't drop kids at school till 8:30 and my husband leaves for work at 6 am. I can do afternoons when the kids club is open or (assuming I don't get a job anytime soon) I can meet mornings or around lunch time. Gotta get the kids at 2. Right now I am in the taper for ING so I pretty flexible about the when and what of my workouts.

Steph of browndogus swims at Mt. View at various times so she might interested too.

Where are you guys meeting up. I usually swim at either Alpharetta or Dunwoody. I am anxiously awaiting when they open up a club in Cumming. I have heard there should be one by the end of the year

I am interested in group swims! I usually swim on Mon or Wed at 10am (after dropping kids off) or on Tues, Thurs or Fri when the regular lap hours begin (6am). Both times seem to have a lot of lane availability right now. The only problem with T/Th/F early is that you have to be out by 6:50 to beat the high school kids to a shower.

Hey Beth I actually think I have just missed you the last two times I have gone to Cobb Aquatic to swim, I saw you name on the log in sheet.

Let me know when you are planning to go, I work shift work so my schedule changes weekly.

I wish I could swim mid-morning!  I've been going to LAF Atlantic Station and starting at a torturous 5:45am..going to try to stick with that.  Most likely Tuesday and Fridays.

We are almost to the point of where we could do a group open water swim.

Lake Acworth?

    Brett,
Thats funny we were there at the same time, even more amazing you read my handwriting. I may try to go today at lunch assuming my swim bag is in the car. I have a feeling I forgot it by the front door today :-(

I went to Mt View today at about 10:30 and the place was FULL!!!

I always check the log in to see if anyone I know is swimming. Makes it  a little more fun when you have a training partner to push you a little during the swim.

I was there today too and was wondering what was up! It's unusual for it to be so busy on Mon morning.

Doug came in about the same time as you and lane-shared with me.
