Subject: Gas Price limit - looking for a bike trailer??

I've reached my gas price limit (3.16 and I'm in Houston FCOL)... need to start changing my driving.  I'm going to buy a trailer for the bike and use that to go to the Y and other close by errands.  I need it to carry 2 kids (100's lbs) and be compact for storage and less then $125 (w/shipping).

found a few online meeting my requirements but what are you using?

No recs, but maybe a PM to Autumn would give you some good info.

I bought gas this morning for the first time in months, and was shocked at the price: $3.59 for the cheap stuff.  And my friend, who was in the car with me, said, "Oh, this is the cheapest price in town!"  Holy cow!

You're not alone.  Seems lots of folks have found their tipping point.  My friend rides the bus into SF for work, and says that it's been packed to the brim every day for the last two months.  Eric's office's bike room has been full of bikes.  And Freecycle has had quite a few posts requesting bikes.

Oh and the record crude prices were for May delivery so the increases have just begun. Yippie!

I have already curbed my driving - a tank lasts me almost 4 weeks in my min-van.  I try to combine trips and stay local.... but $3.16 OMG, stop the insanity!  I'd love to have my van tank last me longer....

Read something recently that says the increase in fuel costs will hurt small restaurants the worst.  Since people who are forced to pay the price at the pump to commute can't really stop going to work, they'll have to re-adjust their budgets to accommodate it.  And, according to the article, the first place people cut back on spending is going out to eat, and going to the movies.
