What are you planning on racing in this year? Any advantages or reasons you have to go either way?

Top and bottom cause it's what I own.

I used a tri-suit last year and then switched to the top/shorts.

Don't know about advantages/disadvantages,  but I can tell you that the one-piece tri-suit is a lot more encumbering if you need to use the bathroom. (Heaven forbid you got to do #2 - - the whole thing's gotta come off)

Tri shorts and tri top.

One-piece tri suits don't really fit me right, and having two pieces makes pre-race visits to the port-o-pot a little easier.

Wear whatever you want, as long as you in no way resemble Faris in his mankini:

I'm going with a 1 piece for racing this year so as to avoid the 'muffin top' when the top rides up.

I'm tall and thin, so wetsuits and other one-piece items tend to be too wide if they're long enough.  Large shorts and XL tops work best for me.

I too prefer top/bottom vs. full suit. Full suits don't seem to fit me right, either. I think my torso must be longer than most -- I always feel like I've got a wedgie, esp. in aero position... Ditto the comments on 2 pieces making prota-pottie visits easier.

I have a one-piece but will be switching to separates at some point this season.  As noted by others, tight fit in the lower regions makes it a bit uncomfortable.

Top and bottom...easier "access" in case of a pitstop.  I do have the 1 piece as well, but I don't anticipate wearing it anytime soon.  I wore it last year and liked it, but the 2 piece this year rocks.

Sounds like more are going 2-piece than 1. I am currently using shorts/top as well, but I like some of the ideas of a 1-piece (ie. no waistband, cleaner looking - top doesn't ride up, etc. ) but if it doesn't fit, then it just won't work, right?!

2 ppieces....I'm bigger on top than bottom so any one piece thing will not fit somewhere.  Also I don't want to have to get naked to pee.

I wear the tri top and tri shorts because I'm two different sizes and the one piece doesn't fit as well.  Plus, it's easier to go to the bathroom in the two piece.

Where's your sense of adventure?!!

I have both and have raced in both and actually think the one piece is more comfortable but the sponsor supplied clothing last year and this year are tri shorts with a tri top or tank top so I'll be racing in that again. I will be training in the one piece though. The roadside bathroom breaks are a bit more of a pain in the arse!!

I would try the one piece, but have not seen any in local stores, and that is something I think I should try on before buying. I can wear different sizes on top and bottom, so the one piece may not be great.

Always tri top and tri bottoms...they are way more cute tri outfits that way and besides it makes bathroom visits much easier. Looking good racing is important you know!

I'm going with the one piece.  Keeps my mommy-belly from hanging out.  And it prevents some indecent exposure when the wet suit comes off in TI!

I have never tried a suit before. I have been thinking of trying one, however, only because my tri tops never seem long enough. I am always trying to pull it down so my belly isn't exposed

If your long waisted a one piece tri suit will likely give you a nice wedgie

I would feel to much like a wrestler in a singlet if i wore a tri suit.

In that case, I would vote for the two piece or a suite with a wide pad.

I've raced in single & tri shorts for the whole race, I've worn bike top & shorts and switched in T2 to run shirt and shorts, and worn a tri suit.

I really like the tri suit and I'll probably do most or all my races wearing it this year. No sunburn strip on the lower back where a two piece separates, faster transitions since I don't change clothes, and it fits more snugly so it's more aero.

I'm on the long waisted side but still, the tri suit fits fine. And really, it's not hard to pee without removing it completely. With a little imagination you can figure out how it's done...

I've raced in both and I found one piece better because:
More aero
Less restrictive on the belly area
No plumbers crack and sunburn issues on the bike

I'm tall and sort of lanky. I started out in jammers, tried the tri short/random shirt combo and ended up in a tri suit by the end of the season. I feel more comfortable in the full suit than the 2 parts and it keeps everything (fat) in place when I run.

If you get a suit that is too short (shoulder to crotch), it will be uncomfortable

It's easier to get off in the case of a #2 bathroom break, than it is putting back on over sweaty/wet skin

I have used both, but like the fit and feel of the tri suit. Like everyone said the down fall is using the bathroom. Not fun...

I was just looking at the sizing charts for suits. According to my inseam, I'm an XL. By my chest size, an L, and according to my waist and hips, an M. I don't think I better order one of these things online.
