I'm out of control and I need help getting back on track!!!! How can I stay away from all of the yummy Christmas goodies? I'm starting to gain the weight I've been trying so hard to loose but I just can't stop myself from eating and my training is starting to suffer. Any suggestions?

I have the same "affliction", I love food.  Every day, after work, when I get home, I want to eat and eat and eat.  There is not much I can do about my desire to eat because I really have no will power.  Therefore the only thing I do is NOT stock my shelves with bread, pastries, cookies, candy, chips and all such "delights".  I don't even buy luncheon meats anymores ... sigh!  The fridge is well stocked with fruits and vegetables to nibble on and the closest I come to eating "fast food" or "munchies" is when I have a bowl of cereal with soy milk as a snack.

I stopped smoking 3 months ago! And I'm always hungry. The only thing I can do is drink lots of water (sometimes I think i'll drown) or eat good food (fruits, carrots etc.) I give myself one gift a week a chocolate bar or something like that but no more. Good luck and be strong, you can do it!

What I do is, if I eat one bad portion of food, like a piece of cake or bowl of icecream or a big mac, my "punishment" is 1/2 hour more cardio time.

So, for example, my regular cardio workout regimen is 1/2 hour a day (I know it's not that much, but I have to work full time and attend law school at night). No matter what, I will still make the 1/2 hour a day. If I eat something bad, I will tack on a 1/2 hour. If I miss a day, I will then have to tack on the 1/2 hour of regular workout to the next day.

This way, if you eat bad, you will hopefully and technically work it off with that extra 1/2 hour workout you added.

If you can't get to the gym for whatever reason, the way I do it is, I won't ever take a shower at home. So, i'm forced to go to the gym to take a shower. Since I drove there, I might as well do my 1/2 hour workout.

I've been trying to write down everything I eat in my training logs... and making them public...  makes me think twice before I eat...

Thanks everyone for the support and all of the great ideas. I stopped logging my food intake and I think I really need to get back on that. I'll have to put some of these strategies in place after I have cake this afternoon for our receptionists b-day (blush).
