Many of us have discussed going up to Lake Placid to train the weekend of June 20-22nd. I thought we may want to make some loose plans.

It may be fun to pick a central hotel to all try and stay at. Any suggestions? I think we should plan on having dinner both Friday and Saturday night. Any suggestions as to location?

Here is what I plan on doing:
Friday: Swim 1 or 2 laps
Saturday: Bike 112/very short brick run 15-20' and swim 1 lap
Sunday: Bike 56 miles and run 13.1 miles/1 lap of run course

I am going up that weekend as well! I already put in for the vacation time. Not sure if I am traveling on Thurs or Fri, though.

I will determine my training schedule as it gets closer, but I am sure I will do a long ride, long run, and take a dip in Mirror Lake at some point. I can't wait to finally see those hills .

No time right now, Kathy, to look up possible places to stay, etc. But, I'll get moving on it soon .

I will be there as well that weekend - probably arrive Friday early afternoon and leave late Sunday afternoon.

The workout plan looks good - my only suggestion is to make sure we do the swim before the bike on Saturday.

That was my plan I just typed in the way I wrote it after talking with my coach.

It will be great to meet many of those I've only know via BT in person.

Hi Kathie,

I mentioned to you that I will be going up to LP for a training weekend on June 13-15 so it's too bad that we couldn't meet. I've posted a thread for a similar "training camp" for that weekend. You can find the thread here - http://www.beginnertriathlete.com/discussion/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=109018&posts=1&start=1

Feel free to use the proposed schedule, info, whatever you would like for the weekend of June 20-22.

Hi Kathy and all fellow BT IMLP'ers!

I am an infrequent poster, but I am very excited to meet up with all of you in Lake Placid! I will also be there for this training wkend.

My schedule calls for a 2 loop swim on Friday, 2 loop ride on Saturday with a brick run, and a long run on Sunday (which will include one loop of the course and then adding on). This fits nicely with what Kath has planned...

I have a pretty long drive so I will get into town on Thursday and try to leave early afternoon on Sunday. I haven't yet made reservations... I will keep checking back here to see what you all are thinking about places to stay...

It will be great to have this IM adventure with all of you!

Darn! Even though I'm not doing LP this year (will be volunteering and signing up for 09 though), I would have gone up to train. But I'll be in LP the following weekend to do Tupper Lake. Enjoy the training. Wish I could join in.

A group from local tri club and coaches are going up for a training camp the week after (25-28).  I signed on to go up there with them, so I will miss you guys by a couple of days.  I would come up early and train with your group and then stay and wait for them, but I think my wife would kill me if I left her alone with the kids that long

Have a great time!

Wish I could make it as well, but it looks like Memorial Day weekend will work out better for me from a logistics standpoint (I have in-laws that live about 90 min away).

If we can get free room at the Hilton with my husband points we are staying there. If not I'm not sure.

Northwoods as an IM rate that needs to be requested of $100/night I have been told.

  • June 1st - June 31st $79.00 for a standard room, $109.00 for a kitchenette suite.

Hey Gang -

Ran across this forum and was wondering if I can join any groups/folks on the bike course or run course during the weekend of June 13.

Best Regards..... Frankie
