Event warmup:

None
Swim
  • 05m 23s
  • 328 yards
  • 01m 38s / 100 yards
Comments:

Not my best swim by far. Just couldn't get a good rythm. Paul said my stroke was wierd. Swim is usally my strongest event
What would you do differently?:

Train more, haven't been in the pool much lately - oh yeah and don't get MONO
Transition 1
  • 01m 12s
Comments:

Pretty quick transition, wimped out on jumping onto my bike
Bike
  • 51m 23s
  • 15.53 miles
  • 18.13 mile/hr
Comments:

I cried when I saw the results! 10th overall (women) on the bike!! My best effort ever - and that is with mono for the last 2 months & getting stuck behind a car on the bike course. I did what I worked all winter on - I became a cyclist!
What would you do differently?:

No mono, no cars, less wind - otherwise a PERFECT ride!
Transition 2
  • 35m 21s
Comments:

No, that number isn't off, I had a 35 min. transition. My daughter was swimming for a relay. She's 8. I wasn't going to miss that for all the 1st place finished in the world! I left my chip on, went back into the pool & helped get her warmed up & ready then cheered her on. We met at her transition rack & then she ran the WHOLE 5k with me! She is awesome!
What would you do differently?:

NOT A THING!
Run
  • 40m 32s
  • 3.11 miles
  • 13m 02s  min/mile
Comments:

Ran with my sweet daughter. She was amazing. This was her 3rd 5k ever, first one after a 300meter swim. What a COOL thing to do together!
What would you do differently?:

Nothing!
Post race
What limited your ability to perform faster:

2 months of mono

Event comments:

I love this race, it is always one of my favorites. As a side note had I continued with the run I would have taken 1st place - but my prize was much better than a little medal!

Looks like you had a lot of fun with your daughter, that is so cool. It's also great that you did so well on the bike after being sick. You sound like a terrific mom.
