Took my first ride with my 305 Saturday.

Over a 72 mile bike route it was within 0.11 mile of my old cycle computer... I can live with that.

So far I love mine.

More like your old cycle computer was within .11 miles of your new garmin - it's the one with the gps.

Does anyone know if the 305 hr strap is compatible with the 405?
The Garmin website has different part #s for the strap that comes with each, and they are not indicated as compatible.  Thought someone may have done a trial and error.  Just wanted to double check before I spend an extra $50.

Sorry, but it looks like the sale is over. I got mine from Road Runner Sports for the same price, but it looks like they don't have any more either. They do however still have the 205 on sale if you are interested in that.

That's OK - I just wnated to make sure I was nto missing it or that there was nto a discount code everyone was using.

I do have another question - what does the foot pad give you? If the wrist unit is the GPS, won't that tell you your distance, speed, etc?

It's for times when the GPS isn't functional (e.g., on the treadmill).
