Total Time = 1h 22m 31s
Overall Rank = 20/139
Age Group = w35-39
Age Group Rank = 2/12
Pre-race routine:

Got there early to set up the tri club stuff & because I'm crazy about not being late - even for a C race!
Event warmup:

Does chasing after my grouchy and difficult 8 year old daughter count?
Swim
  • 12m 34s
  • 820 yards
  • 01m 32s / 100 yards
Comments:

It was really crowded! Our wave was LAST - women 35 and up and relays. That sucked. Water was cold but I just relaxed, didn't really swim all that hard & concentrated on my form. Except for the masses it was a nice swim.
What would you do differently?:

Not have the last and largest wave? Nothing really, it was a nice swim.
Transition 1
  • 02m 15s
Comments:

Was I sleeping? My suit got really stuck, almost had to sit down with it.
What would you do differently?:

Not sure w/ the new suit how to get it off better, I used tons of body glide. I refuse to ruin a good suit w/ PAM!
Bike
  • 40m 22s
  • 12.43 miles
  • 18.48 mile/hr
Comments:

Well this was a huge mess. Starting in the back also meant riding through hundreds of slow, don't know how to change gears without swirving in to me annoying people! Seriously, at times there we were having to pass 4 bikes abreast. And then there was the car & trucks towing boats on the road. I refused to be a rule breaker and pass the cars on the LEFT like everybody else. I know it was a offciating nightmare but that was just horrible. I estimate that I lost a good couple of minuites stuck behind cars. Good thing I wasn't worried about time & and at that point just started cheering for others. Can't let traffic ruin a perfectly good race!
What would you do differently?:

CLOSE THE COURSE TO CAR & BOAT TRAFFIC!!
Transition 2
  • 01m 4s
Comments:

I did stop and take a swig of water here, I didn't bother w/ my aerobottle b/c of the short bike but I was thirsty!!
What would you do differently?:

Nothing
Run
  • 26m 18s
  • 3.11 miles
  • 08m 28s  min/mile
Comments:

Wow, what can I say here! I could feel the mono here- just couldn't keep the pace. I did what I could, talked to some very nice ladies then sprinted it into the finish.
What would you do differently?:

I feel like I could have swam faster, could have biked much faster but honestly this is as fast as I could have run on this day. Kind of a bummer but hey, I guess something had to give with 2.5 months of mono!
Post race
Warm down:

Helped tear down (we tear down after the race & race for free) then hung out at the tri club picnic. It was fantasic.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

2.5 months of mono, starting at the back of the pack & traffic - but mostly I just went out to have fun & see a lot of friends!

Event comments:

I always love this race b/c it is a hometown race for us.

Nice job!  Especially after 2.5 months of mono!  I was lucky not having to deal with traffic or slower riders.  Funny though... I was actually yelled at by somebody passing me while I was passing somebody else at the same time... "stay to the right please!"  There was plenty of room for all of us.  Not sure what I could've done for him other than run the other person off the road :-)  Kudos to you for cheering others on in your C-race.  That what make it fun!

Good luck on the 18th!
