Since I am always thinking to join an Ironman competition in 2009 anywhere in USA, I had an idea and I would like to propose it here to you all.

I am ready to make an..."Ironman exchange" offer to somebody interested to join an Ironman in Europe, in this case Ironman Switzerland 2009 since I live here in Zurich. I can offer you to stay at my place and then I would come in US for another Ironman race, at your place.

Basically exchanging the stay for Ironman racing.

Does it make sense? Anybody interested?

You'd have to find someone local to the race for lodging, and then hope you can into the race to begin with!  Probabilities of that without being on site to sign up are getting harder and harder.

But it is definitely a cool idea, and not at all unheard of!

I've stayed at another BTer's place for Boston and have offered up a bed in my house for someone coming down to my area from out of state for local races.  Definitely a great way to meet people and cut down on the expenses!

OFF TOPIC:

I just returned from a wedding in Switzerland. We were in country for literally 30 hours. I am now suffering the effects of jetlag and am pretty miserable. When doing an IM out of the country and many time zones away, how do you folks adapt? Do you spend a week getting used to the area?

Thoughts?

I'd have to talk it over with the wifey, but we live 2 blocks away from the start of IM Moodison. I doubt there are any Europe plans in my near future, so if things work out perhaps you can take another BT'er in my place. The plan is to race in 2009 at the Moo, so it wouldn't be a problem the morning of.

I can almost guarantee she won't give me a direct answer immediately, but I'll see what I can swing.

I can even add that I am 2hrs drive from IM Frankfurt in Germany and 3hrs drive from IM 70.3 in Munich.

Here in June we have in Zurich (Rapperswil is 20minutes away from where I live) the 70.3 HIM too!

Anyway, I would consider only events where you can get up in the morning and drive to the event in 30mins-1hr max.

For me it is the case for IM Zurich (mid July) and 70.3 Rapperswil (first week of June).

In a couple of years I might be interested

I'm not ready for an IM and don't have a place close to one yet. Working hard on both!

I would have been up for it. I was thinking of IM Switzerland for next year. I did live in Ohio, which is just a few hours from Louisville. Now I'm living in Winnipeg, MB Canada and not close to any IM venue.

Would have been great !
