after the race, random people congratulate you on doing your first triathlon and you've done more in the last year than they have in their entire life. (and they speak in that 'good doggy, have a biscuit' tone.)

*** the good dog...have a biscuit tone *** OMG...I laughed so hard I almost cried!!! Boy do I relate to that...

Comments from my last half ironman:

"...ohhh its so nice that you're here cheering on your friend...how sweet!"

My reply: "Yeah..Ill cheer him on when I pass him in the swim and he blows by me on the run"

I love being the "big girl" in the skinny 0% body fat world

You bike is taller than most people.

Racing flats look like ballet slippers.

You like your wetsuit because it is black.  You hate your wetsuit because it is VERY TIGHT.

Better a pair of titanium knees then a heart bypass.

...people have ever encouraged you to lift weights rather than swim/bike/run.

If I had a nickel for every, "Dude, you aren't going to have any knees left!"

You know you're a Clydesdale when you get drafted on the run.

... when the lady with the walker laps you on your 5k practice loop.

.... those of us who should realy wear a HRM can't because the strap is for the "masses" instead of those with mass

.... you have to have a special wheel built because you want to ride 700x28 tires, but you keep flatting due to pushing the engineered maximum for that rim to it's limit (yes this happened on my first road bike almost 20 years ago"

.... when you look at racing flats and realize painting your feet would offer more stability

.... when you are THE TRIATHLETE back in line for the post race meal

.... when faster runners draft you, not for drafting, because passing would be so much eaiser, but because you offer shade on the 100 deg. run

You have ever said "sure I was out there a long time but I got twice the value for my money as the fast people".

You have ever been on the course long enough to have your race number become a tan line...

It helps if you forget to put on sunblock due to a series of unfortunate events...

Been there, done that. On both accounts. It took almost three weeks for those numbers to disappear from my arm.

And that's actually my motto these days: at least I'm getting my money's worth.

You know you are a Clydesdale or Athena if someone tells you that you have a flat tire, when in all actuality, the tire just looks flat because of all the weight. That actually happened to me.

You lose track of how many on your lefts and you're doing a great jobs you got throughout the race.
