I just saw the email address for them so I'm hoping that they still have the data from whatever chip I was using.

I might have gotten hardware then actually.  Does anybody know if they might send it?

Hopefully so. I've found that they're pretty responsive when I've reached out to them in the past.

I'm apparently going to be waiting by the mailbox for my medal.

...the other thing that backs this up is that when I crossed the finish, I am 90% certain the clock said 6:15:xx or somewhere in that ballbark.  I was in the 9th wave which started 24 minutes after the first was went.  6:15:xx less 24 minutes = 5:51:xx.  Pretty much right on with what my HRM time says....

I had the same sort of recollection, Wildee, that the event clock showed a time and working back from my wave start time, I calculated an approximate race time. Doing the math, the official results were about 3 minutes slower than my math would have indicated. So I'm thinking that I got the wave start time wrong, and it's a bit coincidental that it's off by the wave start time interval.

Going to the HRM, I get a result about two minutes faster than official, but here's the problem, somewhere between T2 and a bit down the path, I notice my HRM was stopped. I restarted, but I don't know how long it was out. So, given that my HRM says I was about 2 minutes faster than the official results AND it was shut off for a bit, I'd say the official results are probably pretty close in my case. Not sure how to explain your discrepancy, but the timing chip switcher-o sounds plausible.

Something to check as well is your Run pace compared to your actual run time. They stuck penalties in with the run time....so make sure you run time is the actual pace, if not, you got a penalty along the way.

You mean Bike time?  I know that it's possible to get a "drafting" penalty (ahem, Tammy), though, in the run.

I've read they just put the penalty in the run box....regardless of where it happened, so check your run times / pace

Actually their run time posted for me is 8 minutes faster than what I showed on my watch.  If there was some ryme or reason to the discrepancy I could chalk it up to HRM malfunction but this is just kinda crazy and due to the chip mix up I think that seems most probable.  I've sent an email to HFP so I'll see what kind of response I get.

It was great to meet a handful of you in transition!

Susie--I'm sorry I missed your call! I had left my phone in the car, but my friend eventually went back up to grab it for me.

Me too. After I called you I got all my stuff and then... left my phone in the car.
I was sort of looking around at the start for the green sleeved wetsuit, but to be honest, at that point I was seriously nervous, anxious etc and not really focusing on anything else other than my complete dread of the swim.

Alright, so the times are posted I'm quite confused.  My brand new Polar HRM has me at 5:52:28.  A time that my wife was monitoring throughout the day and seemed to agree with.  The official time has me at 6:00:26!  All the splits are off.  Official says 34:47 on the swim.  Last year on a longer course I think I was 35 or 36 and my HRM says 29:38.  A friend of mine who I am a better swimmer than he is was in the wave right before me and his swim was 31:53.  If he started out 3 minutes before me and yet my wife said I was right after him into tranisiton.

T1 the official for me is 7:27.  My watch has 2:53!  My watch is not that much off.  My transition spot was right at the exit to start the bike.  I was to me spot after the swim and moved pretty well and got out.  No way was my T1 7:27!

When I checked my bike in and got my timing chip my number, 1809, was not there.  Somebody else has to have gotten my timing chip.  They gave me another one and the guy wrote a note down on a piece of paper but I have to think that I have been given the times of whoever accidentally got my 1809 chip.  Thing is that the official report shows that I took 2nd in my Clyde 40+ 225+ AG and that's with a time I think is 8 minutes slower than I think I actually was.

The other thing that backs this up is that when I crossed the finish, I am 90% certain the clock said 6:15:xx or somewhere in that ballbark.  I was in the 9th wave which started 24 minutes after the first was went.  6:15:xx less 24 minutes = 5:51:xx.  Pretty much right on with what my HRM time says.  Arrrgggghhhh!  Better than last year though.  They never even posted a time for me last year.  It's like last year I wasn't even there although I've got the mental wounds to prove I was.

WOW, sucks to be you at SOR!! Race under an alias next year...they may get it right? They had times messed up by 5 min. a couple of years ago...waves were a bit messed up, no one could hear them anounce which wave they were on! (mixed caps in each group). Have a chat with HFP...they will try to fix it Im sure.

Everybody, take a look at the women's 45-49 results, in particular the first place results. Does anything look odd to you, like the run? I'm thinking only 1 loop here.

I don't think I will be doing this race again. This was my first SOR and I was not impressed. I have done 2 other HIM both were at Steelhead. Steelhead was better organized, had a better expo, and kept you more informed. The fact that we are even discussing if the swim was shorter and haven't seen anything on the website about it is crazy. If there was something that big they should tell us. And if it was short due to having to bring the buoys in then just extend the corner buoys 50-100 meters on both sides and bam your problem is fixed. The post race meal was terrible compared to the Ironman sponsored race. I did like the bike course though but I thought we were actually going to run through the zoo. All I saw were 2 empty cages and then right back out onto the path. If they advertise a run through the zoo it should be a run through the zoo. I don't think I will be doing this race again.

My wife is listed as a DNS, even though she did the whole race. I think they had some MAJOR issues with the timing. Sucks to pay that much and not have official results for your first half-iron.

I don't know what happened this year but I would say that this race took a step backwards.  Lots of timing issues but I thought even the check-in was goofy.  Packet pick-up had weird hand written signs, etc.  When they gave me my race number it didn't include a helmet number which I don't care too much about other than the impression that gives you.  I thought the expo was pathetic compared to last year.  Too crowded.  Parking was very difficult for me at least compared to the school they had it at before.  I thought the post-race food was better than last year actually.  What happened to the nice row of porta-pots at the start of the run?  That was bad for peeps to have to wait in line during a race!!  Volunteers I thought were excellent at all the aid stations!  They were aggressively trying to make sure that you got what you needed - that's a tough job!

Communication b4 the race with the delays was poor and if you haven't read my previous post I am very frustrated with my timing chip not being there when I checked in!

I hope this race doesn't continue to slide in the future since it's got a great base to it and we are lucky to have it in our area.  Oh, traffic control was excellent which is tough on the community too.

Well I would say that the race for me went very well...i finished in 5:24:XX and for a first HIM I think that was pretty darn good. The only thing that got me was some of the roads for horrible, there seemed to be a lot of random cones, and the post meal was really bad.

On the plus side I had a fast bike, there were a lot of aid stations with GREAT people at them that let you know what they had.  I had a blast and there was and always will be SNAFUs but thats in the sport

That is a great time no matter what. I was 5:18:xx but have a 3 month old at home so my training hasn't been the best to say the least. I felt it on the run where I was much slower than years past. IM Madison I think is in store for me next year. Wish me luck!

Boy I would love to know what #1815 did to get an unsportsmanlike conduct. What was it, a facemask, roughing the passer?

Did anyone else see the athlete in the speedo with the skunk on the front and "stinker" on the back? I wonder what his story was?

My guess is he ended up too cold after the swim. As I was going out on the bike he was walking his bike back down to transition. Poor guy...hopefully he's okay!

WOW!  That's an interesting one, and the same goes for #1557 for "3.4(a) Entire Course".  WTH is THAT all about?

I saw stinker and could not believe he was about to try the swim like that. He either has some balls or is a little slow. Not sure which.
