This race didn't ask my 300m time but rather my 100m time. Should I put what I know my 100m AVG is for the race or should I enter my fastest 100m? I have always just done OWS so I have NO CLUE on how to enter a time for a snake swim! It's only a quick 300m swim, but I just don't want to be stuck behind people who are significantly slower if it should only take me 4-4:20 to do it with flip turns.

Error on the faster side. Everyone does.

As for flip turns... good luck. Usually they are hard to do in a pool swim... too many people, lots of chaos at the wall... and if they make you come off to the wall to your left... versus your right side... ugh. I've always done flip turns coming off the wall to the right. So I have talent going to the left.

Agreed.  They're usually easier in open water.

If I thought it would take me 4-4:20 to do the 300m, I'd put 1:15 as my 100m time.

The last Tri I was at I believe quite a few people entered what they could sprint 100M in not what their 100M time while doing a 400M swim should be.

What happened was the pool was quite clogged in some parts after people finished one lap and started back-stroke/side-stroke and walking.

Personally I put what my 100M time was while doing a 400M swim.

Agreed ^^^

In a pool swim it is much easier to have one maybe two people past you, than having to pass 10+ people. I had a pool swim for an aquathon earlier this year, and I errored on the slower side. There were several times I would have three to four people in a group. Trust me, that was much more difficult than letting the one guy fly by me.

The problem is that everyone seems to do this which is what creates the log-jams.

Just say you average 50 second 100's then you'll be the highest seed

I would take your 100m time for a 300m TT and submit that but subtract 5 or 10 seconds.  Personally I would rather be passed than pass people.  Plus everyone else give faster times anyways.

As for flip turns I have done 3 pool races and see them done alot and they seem to work fine if you start near the front.  You will tend to get more log jams the farther back in the field you go so you have to time getting to the wall.

I am going to take my last timed pool swim at 425 meters which was 6:02 ~ 1:25s and use that to subtract 5 seconds and submit a 1:20.

Thanks for all of the input, I appreciate it!
