Total Time = 19m 22s
Overall Rank = 17/233
Age Group = 30-34
Age Group Rank = 1/10
Pre-race routine:

A couple cups of coffee, clif bar, juice. I was out the door by 8:15AM. Ate another clif bar on the way. I was at Portland HS by 9:30AM. Race started promptly at 10AM.
Event warmup:

Picked up packet, stretched, used restroom, ran about a mile. I decided to go with running tights, long sleeve air-max shirt, skull cap and gloves. Good call. Had a Crank Energy Gel 10 minutes prior to start and popped a jollyrancher when the gun sounded.

Comments:

Positioned myself near the starting line and got off clean. A few people passed me in the first 1/4 of a mile. From there on out I ran with two other fellows, both of whom pulled away from me at the 3 mile mark. No one passed after the 1/4 mile mark.

What would you do differently?:

Not much!!
Post race
Warm down:

Walked around. Ate a couple cups of YUMMY veggie chili. Met a fellow who I recogized from AA Turkey Trot. Talked with him for a bit (he finished 15th overall and was the grandmaster winner). Turns out he is from Kazoo too. Encouraged me to do track w/o's.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Somehow I had developed a blister from yesterday's run (I noticed it immediately when I pulled off my socks). When I was stretching before the race today my lower shin (achilles?) was rather tight and I had difficulty rolling my toes up. I think I might have over compensated for the blister when I walked about yesterday. For the whole race I pretty much felt like I was running on one leg. I might of even had a slight gimp. Injury got worse as the race progressed.

Event comments:

I felt much stronger today than I did at the AA Turkey Trot this past November. All the double digit runs I have been doing have helped my endurance GREATLY. Hamstrings and calfs felt awesome, and I STILL had some juice left in the tank upon finishing. Damn shin!! If I had not been hurt, I think I could gone SUB 19 rather easily.

Time is a PB. AT AA Turkey Trot went 19:55.

I was presented a plaque in an award's ceremony held in the school auditorium. Very cool!!

Nice run dude!  I know you rocked with the swim, but now you shown your running ability.  With a bit of work on the bike, you are a major Tri-ATHLETE !!!

Nice work and congrats on the AG!

WHEW, finally made it over to the RR, ATHLETE!

I am still smiling 2 days later about your win!  I would have really liked to have known what you could have run without the blister and shin issues....

As rkreuser would say, you're en fuego
