I was just out for a 5-mile run and struck in the head by a huge pigeon. It felt like someone dropped a rock on me and I felt its feet in my hair. Gross! I gave the passing tourists a story to tell at least. And all I could think about was this thread.

Managed to hit a malard duck on my long ride this weekend ! Hit him with the front wheel; he flew up and hit me in the helmut; and then flew away. Seems we were both a little startled.

A Big Horn Sheep last week on the bike trail.  Nice big Ram with just more than a full curl.  It was better than the occaisonal rattlesnake I see on the path.  I can just see one getting caught in my chain ring or something.  I hate snakes.

Wildlife??? I was riding outside of town, and at the top of one hill there is a little small town bar that is a pretty crazy place. I went by there last wednesday and as I crested the hill I heard someone yell out, nice legs bicycle guy! I looked over my should and yelled thanks, 3 biker chics pulled up there shirts and flashed me.

NOW THAT IS WILDLIFE!!!!

My worst wildlife experience almost ended my cycling before I ever really got started.  I was riding with my husband and a friend of his.  My husband was a few feet in front of us and yelled "squirrel."  By the time his friend and I heard it, the poor fella was in 3rds...he took of the tail and I beheaded the little guy.  I almost cried, it killed me...I love animals.

Here in Utah, I've seen plenty of deer, moose, fox, and once in a while early will see a skunk or two.

On my run today I saw a turtle sitting on the trail. I like animals, and I knew there was a girl coming up behind me, so I was going to be nice and move it off the path so no one would hurt it. As I got closer I realized it was no ordinary turtle. I looked at if for about 2 minutes trying to figure out if I could help it. By the time the girl got there she looked at me like I was an a-hole because I was holding a stick right in front of the turtle's face. She ran off after it jumped at me and bit through the stick. Nice big snapping turtle. I warned everyone else on the path that it was ahead of them so I didn't have to find any fingers on the path on the way back.

"When did the Old Faithful Inn burn down? I've been looking for confirmaiton of this on the internet but can't find the story"

The original Inn burned down in 1991 thanks to a wild fire, I assume they would rebuild it but the orignal was like a giant log cabin. Very cool place but didn't stand much of a chance. Hopefully they rebuilt.
