So, I've been talking about doing a bike commute to work for about 3 months now. Tonight, is the night, of nights. I'm going to trek the 25mi home and then 25 mi back tomorrow morning. It's strange. I'm usually not anxious about a 25 mi bike ride, but I am right now. Anyways wish me luck. I'm wearing the bright yellow U.S. Army jersey. I usually get the most respect (distance from passing cars) with it. Hopefully I won't become a hood ornament.

I would love to commute to work so good for you, and that is a solid commute.

I unfortunatly (down here in SC) would show up as a giant ball of sweat in a suit. Not to mention bikes are not allowed on the bridge on the way to work, so my 7 mile drive is really a 35 mile bike ride.

It's Plenty warm up here too. Don't worry. I got a membership at the University Rec Center. Going to get a good shower in before starting work.

For those who care.....

I've completed the 50mi round trip. The 25mi ride home last night took about 1:28 (17mph) and was awesome. The 25mi back to work this morning took 1:36 (15.7mph) and was a little more work. All cars gave ample room while passing.I will do it again. I'm not sure If I am (or even my legs) up to do this much more than once a week. We'll see how I feel after a month or so.

I rode in this morning about 13 miles each way, and when I was getting close I was looking for ways to add some miles.

I've been getting lots of questions from colleague's about the commute and with gas at $4 bucks, I think more and more people are considering it as a means to save $$$ and tune up at the same time.

Yeah, so its just an extra 3 -4 hours on the bike.

the bridge doesn't have a side walk?
