I am sad to say that I just found out I will have to have season ending surgery. I had previously signed up for the Longhorn and hopefully I will be able to transfer my entry to either a later 70.3 race (2009) or to another deserving triathlete.

The surgery will keep me from working out for 3 months! I am not sure what I am going to do to keep from going insane but I hope to be back and in better shape for the 2009 season.

On the Longhorn 70.3 site I was told to contact a person named Claire regarding further questions about not being able to participate - IF one of the options is to transfer my entry to another triathlete I will obviously look to this forum first.

Good luck to everybody at the race - I hear it is a wonderful race.

I'm really sorry to hear that.  If they let you transfer to someone else, let me know.  I'm thinking about registering.

Well, it sounds like you have a good attitude about the injury and I am sure you'll come back strong for '09.

Consider coming down to Austin for the race, anyway.  There are going to be a ton of BT'ers down there and we'll be tailgating all weekend, including race day!

Sorry to hear it man, though I think with 3 months off you'd still beat me.

I emailed Claire on Monday and have not heard back from her yet - I figure they are very busy and will wait until the end of the week to send a 2nd email.
