wurkit_gurl - 2008-07-08 12:09 PM A Specialized - but certainly not a model you'd see in TdF (for one, it's a WSD), if any of them even use Specialized.

Gerolsteiner and Quick Step both ride Specialized

I'm on a Scott for training/racing...but you won't see my low-end S40 in the Tour...

(We won't talk about my K2 roadie...now happily "out to pasture" as my commuter bike.)

Here is my ride.  I got her for $800, but spent some money to upgrade seat (to Specialized Alias) and pedals (from toe clips to Look Keo).  Aluminum frame, carbon fork and seatpost.  105/Tiagra mix.  Not a luxury-liner, but gets the job done at 20-21mph for Olys and 19-20mph on HIM with less than adequate T.I.T.S.

I have:

1. A Guru Cron'Alu for triathlon and time trialing;
2. A Colnago Master Carbon (steel w/ carbon seat stays) for road racing; and
3. A hodgepodged Motobecane Le Champion SL for crits, commuting, and some road racing

I just got a Specialized Roubaix - love it. Tried out the girl version (the Ruby), but I am approximately the same size as the average male tour rider (5'9", 150-ish according to something hubby read) so the girl one does not fit me - plus it had PINK all over it. Ugh. I want a bike that says 'I'm gonna eat your lunch" not "let's have a tea party".

Incidentally, whoever won the Paris-Roubaix last time was riding a Specialized Roubaix. He probably had DuraAce though, and I do not.

Enjoy shopping!

Felt - B2.
Klein - Quantum.
Felt - F1X
Trek - 730 (hybrid beater).

I do have the ability to buy a team CSC bike after the tour, though, as my (former) employer offers that deal. I will likely score a cervelo SL shortly. Can't wait to see whose frame it is....

'05 Cannondale R700 road bike with PD Carbon Stryke clip-on aerobars.  Good solid bike with good components (105/Ultegra).  Paid $1,200 for it at the LBS.  Since then have spent another $1,200 on a set of used HED.3's and a Renn 575 disc.  It's comfortable for long training rides and it's been pretty much bullet-proof mechanically.  I've replaced the cables once, and swap out the chain, cassette and front rings every 2K, as preventive maintenance.   Think I'm on my third or fourth set of tires (the original Hutchinson's only lasted about two weeks).

It's still faster than I can pedal it, which is the main reason I haven't sprung for a tri bike.  (I also like the option of riding on the drop bars, particularly on long rides or in hurricane-force winds).  Once the Cannondale is my limiter, then I'll look at another bike.

Mark

I have an '04 Cannondale R800. Love it as well. I did spring to upgrade all the components last year. I am now running it with full Ultegra with a compact crank. My Hutchison tires both got punctured about 1 month in, also.

Am looking at an upgrade... (perhaps an Orbea or a Guru) next year. We'll see.

I own a 2006 SUB Zero2. SUB stands for Sarah Ulmer Brand, she is a kiwi professional cyclist who teamed up with Avanti to make her own set of female-specific bikes. Its a great ride, very comfortable. I've added some clip-on aero bars to make it more triathlon-specific

He actually was not... He was on a Walser with Specialized stickers on it.

Also, I have a Pinarello Dogma and Specialized Tarmac that I am riding. The Dogma was ridden several years ago by Fassa Bortola.

Lance also rode a Litespeed in the TT's of one tour. Trek at the time did not make a TT bike so they painted it blue slapped on some trek stickers and voila a trek! It happens a lot... Jan Ullrich also rode a Walser painted as a Giant TT bike a couple years ago as well.

I have a 2008 Cervelo RS road bike, which you won't see in the tour but may see in Paris-Roubaix on the cobblestones with big ole 25 or 27C tires.
