Danskin Women's Triathlon
Total Time = 1h 31m 5s
Overall Rank = 386/3650
Age Group = 35-39
Age Group Rank = 86/510
Pre-race routine:

Got up at 4:15. Actually slept half decent. Had a glass of wine with dinner. We had racked out bikes the night before, so just had to set up the transition bag.
Event warmup:

Got the wetsuit on and went to the porta potty. Walked to the race start.
Swim
  • 14m 56s
  • 880 yards
  • 01m 42s / 100 yards
Comments:

The swim went pretty well. I was tired for some reason, but just kept counting strokes in my head, and for some reason, that heloed me out. It is amazing what stuff I think about when I am swimming!

I actually stayed pretty straight. Just kept a woman with my wave cap in my sights on the left the entire time. Started on the outside left and stayed there until the end. Started up front, and actually didn't get kicked or anything.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing really...
Transition 1
  • 04m 4s
Comments:

Next, time, I will try to be a little quicker, but I actually enjoy taking my time. It was low pressure so it was nice.
What would you do differently?:

Maybe not totally dry off. :-)
Bike
  • 39m 36s
  • 12.4 miles
  • 18.79 mile/hr
Comments:

The bike was my best event of the 3. My ranking was great there. The wind sucked, but I plowed thru it. The bike was really fun. Everyone encouraged everyone the entire way, so that was nice. Chit chatted with a woman on the bike for a minute...talked about her aerobars.
What would you do differently?:

Absolutely nothing
Transition 2
  • 03m 24s
Comments:

Had to pee from the start, but could not pee in the lake. I tired, but it would not happen. Had to stop and the porta potties were right on my way out. Besides the pee factor, it would have been a great transition.
What would you do differently?:

Pee just before the race!!! I would have broken 1:30 had I not stopped to pee!!!!!
Run
  • 29m 3s
  • 3.1 miles
  • 09m 22s  min/mile
Comments:

I am a turtle...But had a good time, ran into another "Team Milton" friend for a couple of minutes...we just named ourselves while we were down there. No knee problems. I was a bit nervouse about it, since I had been having knee problems before the race.
What would you do differently?:

Practice running and learn to enjoy it more!!!!
Post race
Warm down:

Had a banana, bagel and hung out with all of the Milton ladies.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Peeing at T2!!!

Event comments:

It was a great race. Had a blast!!!

What a great race you had.  Congratulations on such strong results.  Practice makes perfect on the peeing in the water thing.  Had to do it myself this weekend!

I was pleased about the bike!  You rocked it as well on the bike!!!  I was passing a ton of people on the bike also.  It was a really fun race!  We also went to the Olive Garden for dinner.  I hadn't been there in forever.  It was good.  I am a "Sally" orderer from When Harry Met Sally.

Thanks!  Did you do Danskin as well or another??  Just couldn't do it.  Need to get over it.  I would've broken a 1:30 if I had.  Where in Madison are you from?  I moved to Milton just over a year ago from Madison.  Used to teach at Harbor Athletic Club there.

Nice race report.  Yes, liquidating before the race is always a plus.  You'll break 1:30 on your next one no problem.  Is Bangs an Oly or Sprint?
