Subject: Weight training during taper
I enjoy lifting weights and was wanting insight on continuing a weight program ( low weight circuit format style of lifting) through IM taper. Throughout my IM training I have tried to get in as much weight lifting as possible as it's a stress reliever for me and am contemplating continuing it through taper. "IF" I continue it I will only be doing my upper body in a circuit training style format as to not harm the legs. So my question is this, through either experience or opinion is this a good idea? I certainly don't want to jeopardize the last 7-8 months of IM training but would love to continue if possible. Just as a disclaimer, I am not worried about the swim for IMKY as I have been competetively swimming my whole life.

Any thoughts!

You're not going to gain or lose any significant amount of strength in the 3 weeks or so of the taper. I wouldn't risk a pulled/strained arm muscle or dropping a weight on my foot at that point. I think I would be in wrap myself in bubble wrap mode.

If you need it to keep yourself sain, then go for it. Just be very careful.

thanks for the input....I think I may need it to remain sain as I'll need to fill the void of free time and not over train.
