Pre-race routine:

Up at 4:45, eat a powerbar, gel, Gatorade G2, pria bar and banana. Head to race site and stood forever in a porta-potty line, had to rush to get to the new swim start that had to be moved because the lake level was down. It was nearly 3/4 mile from T1.

Good swim but chose the wrong feet to follow from the start. I need to learn to sprint the first bit and latch onto a good set of feet.
What would you do differently?:

Better choice of drafting and sprint the first 200 or so

Well, getting out of the wetsuit did not go great and I dropped my timing chip and had to stop and reattach.
What would you do differently?:

Better wetsuit exit.

Dropped my water bottle and had to stop and go get it because I was thirsty and it was the only one.

Save myself a little in the out and hold onto the water bottle.

Took the helmet off on the long run from the dismount line to TA. Smooth and fast, one of the fastest of the day.

Well, the right foot did okay but it definitely has something wrong. I struggled through the first bit on the uphill and then on the last two miles or so but still had a negative split on the run. I was hoping to break 50 minutes but still was pleased with the overall effort on the day.
What would you do differently?:

Run faster:)

Warm down:

Clean TA and load the truck, rinse off and change clothes. Went to play mini golf with Shelley, the kids and two friends from Knoxville.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Well, with the missed workouts over the last three weeks with Dad's funeral but that is life and that is what happens and I still improved over last year if you take away the long run from the swim finish to T1.
