Hey all.  I'll be riding 44.  Not ready for the big hills yet, but thought I'd share this e-mail and see who is interested.

Hi Abigail,
I saw your email with a question about this ride in Cumming on October 18.    My name is Frank Felker and I ride some on the Wed night ride with the B2 group (did not make it today)   I am also the ride director for the Century Challenge ride.  This ride is organized by the Cumming Kiwanis Club, and I currently serve as President.
We have a 44, 75 and 100 mile route.   You were asking about the half century, so I guess you were asking about the 44 mile route.    The 44 mile route does not climb Burnt Mountain.   There are some good hills to climb along the way, but you should have no problems if you ride the Wed night ride often.   The 75 mile and 100 mile routes do climb Burnt Mountain near Big Canoe.   Burnt Mountain compares to Wolfpen gap in Dahlonega.
Attached is a route description of the 44 mile ride.  It is an out and back route that goes through Dawson County to Yellow Creek Road in Cherokee Co.     Our ride application is on our Kiwanis web site:  www.cummingkiwanis.org    or you can go online and pay by credit card on www.active.com
Let me know if you have other questions about the ride.   Hope you can support us on this ride, and encourage others to participate.  It is a fundraising event for the Kiwanis Club.
Thanks,
Frank Felker

This is an excellent ride ... and my first metric Century.  The Kiwanis put on a great, well supported Century.

Burnt Mountain goes on for quite a piece and has some nice grade to it.

I am not registered yet, but I am leaning toward doing it.  I need to ride since I have not done much in the last week.  We'll see.
