Age Group Rank = 6/14
Pre-race routine:

drank one ensure plus and gatorade
Event warmup:

quick spin + 10 min run + 5 min swim + active stretching
Swim
  • 20m 31s
  • 1500 yards
  • 01m 22s / 100 yards
Comments:

i swam way too easy the 1st half. I guess I didn't think I was ready to push from the getgo. once I began pushing the pace I passed many guys/gals on the elite wave who were wearing a wetsuit.
What would you do differently?:

push hard throughout
Transition 1
  • 01m 56s
Comments:

long run to T1. it was ok nothing to spectacular
Bike
  • 1h 03m
  • 24.9 miles
  • 23.71 mile/hr
Comments:

ok ride. 1st 20 min my legs felt weak with no pop and I felt like I was done. After 20 min someone turn on the power switch and the legs came around. I felt good and managed to push at a descent clip (235 watts, 24 mph) for last 40 min which also are the ones with most hilly/rolling terrain.
What would you do differently?:

nothing much I am still getting the cycling legs back and I did two intense sessions during the week.
Transition 2
  • 01m 13s
Comments:

again nothing too relevant to report other than I am a bit rusty
Run
  • 36m 20s
  • 6.2 miles
  • 05m 52s  min/mile
Comments:

I felt good and strong throughout. I didn't run as fast as I can when in shapoe but I was ok with it and I didn't risk ushing more of what my fitness would allow me. Surprisingly as the race wnet on I felt better and the legs felt good besides swom calf/tendon tweaks. I ended up with the fastest run of the day which is strange :)
Post race
What limited your ability to perform faster:

fitness. but happy that it is coming along back and that i managed a good result.

Event comments:

nice race as always

"RUSTY"???  Whaaaaaa???  You FOPpers make me chuckle.  Taking it "easy", he says.  Gasping with every fiber of my being to keep from dying is what I would be saying.

Most excellent job, Jorge!!

Great work Jorge.  Your run split is just amazing to me.  I'm not sure I could do one mile sub six minutes nevermind after swimming a mile, biking 25 and running five WHILE BEING "OUT OF SHAPE".  Amazing, great job!
