Talking and not paying attention on bike!

Yesterday on my weekly group ride, I was talking with a guy as we came upon a left turn, well I was talking and not paying that close of attention when I notice a van coming down the road. I could not get unclipped in time, if I turned left, I would have taken out my buddy (and he has a really nice bike, so couldn't turn left) and turning right would take me into traffic. Ultimately I had to lay my bike down (no damage to the bike or myself).  So I guess I learned that sometimes talking while riding can be a dangerous thing!

The thing we were talking about while all this happened you may ask??? We were talking about how it was not safe to listen to an iPod while riding because you can't hear oncoming trafiic! lol
