This sprint is on 9/21 and benefits the Jeni fund and Dana Farber Cancer Institute.  Josh (bostonbeginner) has already signed up and I'm planning to.  The bike course is pretty flat and the run is on the beach (hard packed) so it should be a fun event.

I'm in. This is going to be my first tri in the big water (3rd ever; 1st in a pool, 2nd in a lake). I was pretty psyched to get an e-mail just this morning saying they're going to have a swim wave for "nervous and novice" swimmers. I'm both, so I'll probably register for this wave.

Every OWS I've done to this point has resulted in pretty interesting panic attacks, so I'm hoping this one is going to be better. It's been so bad I'm going to see a hypnosis therapist to help me with it. Any other suggestions from those in the crowd?

Sorry to hijack. Hope everybody (including me) has fun!

The lake creeps me out more than the ocean but I'd suggest getting down to the beach and swimming parrallel to the shore in as shallow of water as possible.  Not sure what causes you the most anxiety (distance from shore, aquatic life, seaweed).  Getting small doses of experience can go a long way in giving you the confidence on race day.

I just got an email from the RD saying that the are having a special swim wave for the nervous or new OW swimmers.  What a great idea.  This will be a perfect race for first times.  The bike course is flat and the beach run will be on hard sand.

Yeah Mav!

The more the merrier.  The bike route is very scenic and runs along the water.  Too bad Paragon Park is gone or we could ride the rickety old roller coaster after the race

OK, I'm in the "life vest and swimmies" swim wave, so that should make the experience at least a bit less stressful. We shouldn't have to worry about faster swimmers trying to get past/through us as we flail our way around the buoys.

Whoop!

Looked at it. 100$ is too much, for a sprint.

Yeah, it is.   I paid $90 for an Oly on Saturday and felt almost ripped off when they charged an extra $25 for post-race lobster...but it was really good lobster...

I could be wrong, but I figured the extra cost was because it was a fund raiser.  Regardless, it's the only weekend I have free, so the extra cash is worth it to be able to do another tri.
