Today in the NYT. Nice read. Points out how running too much too soon and in the wrong shoes leads to PF and stress fractures.

Good article...thanks for posting that. I found it interesting that the article emphasized striking more with the heel and/or midfoot, rather than the toes/forefoot to avoid stress fractures of the metatarsals. Seems like everything I've been hearing/reading lately, suggests to strike with the forefoot...hence all the new shoes (Newtons, Five Fingers Vibram) geared toward forefoot striking. I just thought it was odd that this article seems to contradict that line of thinking. Incidentally, I'm a heel-striker who is slowly trying to modify my running style to more of a midfoot strike. I'm finding it very difficult to break old habits. I have a hard time "feeling" exactly where I'm striking, so it's been a slow-going process for me.
